  1. Great story, very touching. I must say I really didn't know much at all about Coach Weis but he obviously is a truly caring man who honors his word which seems to be a rare commodity these days.
  2. I can't remember the last time I had so much fun reading a thread as I have this one (I guess that says alot about my social life huh? LOL) I would love to go to this game but I will be at the LaVergne vs Oakland game cheering on the Wolverines. I do hope the RHS/WC game will be on 104.5 so I can listen to it as I watch the LHS game. I really don't know which team to pick in the RHS/WC game because I have not seen WC play this year but they are obviously doing something right to still be undefeated. I suppose I will have to go with Riverdale in a close one just because they are defending state champs. As I said a couple of weeks ago in a different thread, I really believe LaVergne could have pulled out the W against Riverdale IF they (IMO) had not had the imtimidation factor of going up against Riverdale for the first quarter and a half before realizing they could actually play at the same level as them this year. By the time they recognized that it was to little to late. Also, I said before, RIVERDALE DESERVES to have that intimidation factor most all of their opponents feel at the start of the games, they have earned it over the years. Until someone dethrones them and they break their winning streak (which could happen this weekend) then they will probably maintain that factor. Remember, these opinions are mine and not necessarily that of the staff and management and cannot be rebroadcast or reproduced without prior written consent. LOL GOOD LUCK to Wilson Central and Riverdale on Friday night and may both teams have a safe game.
  3. Brentwood at Blackman-------Brentwood Columbia at LaVergne---------LaVergne Lincoln County at Oakland----Lincoln County Mt. Juliet at Lebanon-----------Lebanon Riverdale at Dickson County--Riverdale Siegel at Independence--------Independence Smyrna at Ravenwood---------Ravenwood Wilson Central at Gallatin------Gallatin Cookeville at Cleveland--------Cookeville Hillsboro at Antioch-------------Hillsboro
  4. I know for a fact that La Vergne is for real this year as a lot of the area teams are finding out as well. I think at the Riverdale game last week, the LHS players probably had the inntimidation factor working against them to an extent for the first half. (IMO) It was in their minds somewhat and rightfully so because Riverdale has earned the respect and intimidation status of a dominate team week in and week out from their previous years and championships. With that said, I think the LHS guys realized, hey, we can play on the same level and even beat these guys. But it was a little to late in the game for that at that point. I was a little surprised that they (coaches) didn't make adjustments to stop Gaston up the middle a lot sooner than they did but I am just a fan and supporter and that is their call. They did a good job of slowing down the run in the second half. Riverdale did help LaVergne alot with the penalties they had (112 yards vs LHS 2 penalties for 21 yards). As always, there were some uncalled penalties for both teams that were borderline. I really look forward to the playoffs and hope LHS gets to play Smyrna or Riverdale again or both teams. Granted this is only if LHS continues to play the way they have been and make it to the playoffs which I truly believe they will. As for Scott, I think either the coaches or Scott himself were a little timid about the passing game but then again in the first half, Gaston was running wild so why go to the air. Scott is a good scrambler and most likely will improve all aspects of his game as he matures.
  5. Lavergne @ Riverdale Wilson Central @ Oakland Lebanon @ Siegel Smyrna @ Blackman Brentwood @ Ravenwood Columbia @ Dickson County Franklin County @ Lincoln County Cumberland County @ Coffee County LaVergne--I have to pick my boys, I am hoping for the 5A upset of the season here. Wilson Central--Looking good so far this year Lebanon--Hungry for a W Smyrna--Bad year for Blaze, not sure when it will turn around for them Brentwood--This will be a good game, close one Dickson County Lincoln County Coffee County
  6. I know it is unimaginable for most everyone that LaVergne could beat the almight Riverdale, but stranger things have happened. I am extremely hopeful for a Wolverine victory but I am also live in reality and know that it is an extreme longshot for that to happen. I still stand by the fact that ANYONE can be beat on any given day. Riverdale did win in another shutout last week but also they did not show their usual high powered domination that they usually display. They had over 100 yards in penalties against them, obviously that could haunt them if they continue to play like that. When a team finally capitalizes on the mistakes Riverdale makes like last week, then thats when their streak will end. Can LaVergne do that this Friday? We will know the answer to that Friday night. I am not trying to talk down on Riverdale or anything of the sort, sometimes people just need to be reminded that Riverdales players are in fact ( after many studies and government funded research LOL) human. I wish LaVergne the best of luck and wish both teams an injury free game.
  7. You are probably right, I was just thinking of overall records, Sorry about that Lost Old Dad. I do have to disagree with you Boro, on the finishing positions though, I feel that LaVergne will finish 3rd with Smyrna in 4th. Maybe that's just me hoping but we will see.
  8. Lost Old Dad, Where are you getting your standings information for region 4? Currently, there is a 2 way tie for 3rd in region 4. The current standings are: Riverdale 4-0 Wilson Central 3-0 LaVergne 3-1 Siegel 3-1 Smyrna 2-2 Oakland 1-3 Lebanon 0-3 Blackman 0-4 As for the game, I see Smyrna winning this one fairly easily. Blackman has alot of injuries (from what I have heard) and they are just having a bad season so far.
  9. Oakland @ Franklin County Cookeville @ Lebanon Blackman @ Centennial ( Hot pick of the Week: Blackman over Centennial ) LaVergne @ Glencliff Lincoln County @ Riverdale Siegel @ Mt. Juliet Columbia Central @ Smyrna Bonus Games ____________ MBA @ CPA Oak Ridge @ DB Gallatin @ Beech Oakland Cookeville Centennial LaVergne Riverdale Siegel Columbia Central MBA DB Gallatin
  10. Of course how much better than last year remains to be seen but I think they "may" be playing a stronger team this week but Lebanon also likes to blitz alot. That may come back to bite Lebanon since LaVergne is running the 4 wideout offense AND they have a QB who can scramble pretty well. If Lebanon blitzes alot, there usually is 1 or more open receivers at any given time. Even if it is a short pass over the middle, just pick them apart with 5-10 yards passes, eat up the field and the clock. Of course, everything you see on here is opinion and speculation so the truth will be told tomorrow night. I know last year, Lebanon walked all over LaVergne but LaVergne has a whole new offense, attitude and outlook this year so we will see who the real LHS is and who the LHS annex is. Good luck to LaVergne.
  11. I have not seen WC play this year but I have seen Smyrna play. I read yesterday where Smyrnas starting QB is out for a few weeks from his injury so I think I have to lean towards the WC side in this game. It should be a fairly close game but I believe WC will come away with the W.
  12. I keep hearing about how strong Lebanon's linemen are, I will have to take the word of some posters on here that it is true. The more important question though, is, does the linemen know how to properly use their strength on the field? I don't know how many linemen Lebanon lost last year but if they are inexperienced, as I have read on here, then I have to wonder how much good the strength does for them. I guess it will all be answered this Friday night at Freedom Field. I know that Lebanon used LaVergne as a door mat last year but not this year, I'm thinking Lebanon does not have the stamina for the no-huddle offense and the strength does you no good when you are worn out and exhausted. LaVergne by 10
  13. Oakland Riverdale Wilson Central Lavergne Jefferson County Franklin Collierville
  14. I'm not doing much better, tied for 110th. The leaders better look out for us huh? LOL
  15. Who is the kid that wore # 4 in Fridays game? He looked to be their main go to guy. He was definitely a threat if he could have gotten some better blocks. Good luck to Centennial the rest of the way.
  16. Actually, Lavergnes field is in the best shape it has been in for years. They did alot of work to it over the summer. I am not going to say there are absolutely no holes at all because I have not walked over every inch of the field but it is in tremendous shape. As for the game night conditions, it's anybodys guess as to what the conditions will be come Friday night but like the reply before said, lots and lots of rain this week. Lebanon was a good team last year, I am not sure if they lost many players to graduation or not but I think this will be a very good game. As usual, I am going to pick Lavergne in a close game.
  17. rhsvball I do give Centennial alot of credit, there was an hour halftime weather delay due to the thunderstorms in the area but they did come back out and finish. It rained from the start of the second half up until about half way through the 4th quarter. Neither team really tried passing much in the second half due to the conditions. I think Lavergne tried about 3 passes in the second half, 1 completion, 1 incompletion and 1 interception. Centennial looked like a different team on their first couple of series in the second half but just couldn't finish it off with a score. Lavergne's defense made some big plays when they needed to and that is something they haven't been able to do very often in the past. I wish Centennial good luck the rest of the season, they played with alot of heart till the end even being down by 28.
  18. Why is beating Centennial (who was 6-4 last year) 28-0 not something for the Lavergne players to feel better about? Maybe Centennial didn't live up to the fans or coaches expectations last year but they were 6-4 and Lavergne was 1-9. The Lavergne guys have worked their tails off this offseason to better themselves and get into better condition because they are sick of losing seasons. This was a great win for the guys after a very close loss to Smyrna in Week 0 and the score easily could have been 42-0 at Centennial if not for a few mistakes on Lavergnes part. They will work on it and continue to try and better themselves each week like the every team wants to do. I really don't know alot about Centennial, if they are alot of younger players, but have read that they are a veteran team. Anyway, not trying to stir up anything just wanting to give the Lavergne guys a well deserved pat on the back and tell them tokeep working hard.
  19. Franklin @ Oakland Riverdale @ Worthington Kilbourne Blackman @ Lincoln County Lebanon @ Gallatin Brentwood @ Smyrna Wilson Central @ Mt. 20. WEEK 0 Oakland-close game again this year Riverdale Lavergne -nail biter Hendersonville-WC might keep it close Cookeville- should be a good game to see Brentwood Franklin- too fast for LC
  21. noregrets, The Wolverines were 1-9 last year. Their schedule for this year is as follows: Aug 19-- Smyrna Aug 26-- at Centennial Sept 2-- Lebanon Sept 9-- at Glencliff Sept 16-- at Riverdale Sept 23-- Columbia Central Sept 30-- Oakland Oct 7 --- Bye week Oct 14-- at Siegel Oct 21-- Blackman Oct 28-- at Wilson Central I think the Wolverines have a great amount of potential this year and I look forward to the season getting under way.
  22. TDCman, I cannot remember who ran the "region 4" pickem last year but we definitely need to do that again this year. If I am not mistaken, everyone in the region plays week 0 except for Lebanon. They open up on week 1 with Gallatin. Where did the region 4 pickem coordinator go?
  23. watchfootball, do you go to the Lavergne practices much? If so, I probably know you because I am at the school everyday to watch them practice. Anyway, I am really looking forward to the Smyrna game and for the season to get started. I can't wait to see if all this hard work and additional conditioning for the Wolverines is going to pay off. 82Cat, I agree with you about the Coaches, I really think they are all on the same page for a change and meshing really well and I think it is showing. As with any team, high school, college or pro, there is always room for improvement. Anxiously awaiting the kickoff >>
  24. I agree with you about the win/loss doesn't matter in a scrimmage, Lavergne just didn't seem to play as well as they did last week in the scrimmages. I understand also that they have been the at the bottom for some time now and I am really hoping that changes this year. If they can beat Smyrna next week, they will definitely be a team the others better keep an eye on. I really think Coach Thomas has the right offense, defense and game plan in place for this team this year and also a good coaching staff around him (not that he had bad coaches before but it wasn't the complete ideal package). That is my opinion and not necessarily that of staff or management
