  1. Thanks to all the Hendersonvile folks for another great tournament. Andy, Chic, Dave, and everyone else involved great job! This tournament is always one of the highlights of everyone's season. Everyone measures how they do at this early tournament. Great facilities. We would play there every weekend and not complain. Again good job!
  2. CAT pitched a perfect 4 innings. Retired the side each inning. Christin Swan has improved greatly. She pitched a good game.
  3. Riverdale is looking for a couple of scrimmage games. Possible dates are Feb. 20, 21, 26, March 1, 7 These could be home or away. 1hr drive or less from Murfreesboro. call Jeff Breeden (931) 607-0956 or Dennis Weaver (931) 808-7107
  4. Cobracoach Word is that you have some high quality dirt on your new field. I'm sure you'll be outside today. Can your hitting instructor handle weather is the question?
  5. These are the ones that I know of that were selected. MVP - CAT Hosfield (pitcher) Ashley Dodd (1st Base) - Riverdale Jessica Whitens (3rd Base) - Riverdale Kelsey Woodruff (CF) - Riverdale JP Edwards (Catcher) - Riverdale Siegel should have gotten four players, 3rd place team 3 players, 4th - 2, the rest 1 player each. (I think those numbers are right. It may be 4th - 3 players, 5th - 2 players.) Those listed from Riverdale are for sure. I have not seen the entire list. I only know the ones I've listed. It was not announced at the tournament.
  6. Franklin 4 Riverdale 1 Top of 7th
  7. First, Blazingspeed, your team has been out for over a week. Good luck to you next year. Second, Riverdale knew that the game at Soddy was going to be close and they would have to play perfect to win. There were two very, very good teams playing that night. Riverdale had a plan of attack to face Waters and for the most part executed that plan well. As for the play where the ball bounced over the third basemans head goes, you could not break for the plate on contact because there was only one out. You also think that when the ball takes a high bounce over thirds head that the ball is now in left field. Runner then breaks toward the plate. This time the SS makes a great play and gets us out at the plate. Next batter hits exactly the same ball and it goes into left field. As far as 11 hits goes, we had a no hitter into the 7th inning. Our defense played excellent on the night. In the seventh inning the strike zone tightened up(That is a fact!). We were unfortunate on two calls that would have gave us two outs. Were they right or wrong? Who knows, but I'm sure the umpires called it the way they saw it. If those two calls go our way does it change the outcome, probably so. The fact is two teams laid everything they had on the line Friday night for the right to play for a state championship. One team won and one team lost. I for one am proud of the way the Riverdale Warriors played that game. I also am proud that I could be a part of such an intense game. It is one of the best ones I've ever been in and I've been in alot of them. If Riverdale had of taken care of business on Wed. night things would maybe be different, but that is why you play the games. Bottom line Riverdale is looking at the tournament from the outside, unhappy with the loss and an end to great season, but not unhappy about the way they played at Soddy. On Friday night everyone there got their monies worth and some. When you win games like this, it makes getting to the state tournament something very special. Riverdale went back to work yesterday to get better and hopefully make the state in the near future!
  8. Gary Davis (David Lipscomb) for sure. Clifford Kirk (Soddy Daisy) Don Fruedenthal (Ezell-Harding) Coach at Gibbs.
  9. Games have been moved to Oakland tonight. 5:00 Warren Co./Lebanon (Loser's bracket quarter final) 7:00 Riverdale/Siegel (Winner's bracket final) Friday will be 2 loser's bracket games at 5:00 and 7:00 in Cookeville. Finals on Saturday.
  10. I agree STD, these teams probably should not be released until the season is over. The problem is that the all star game team had to be contacted and made sure that the players were available on the game dates. Those of you that think there are hidden agendas and a conspiracy against schools or players are wrong. In the AAA part of the process there were over 80 players nominated for All-Midstate alone. The players were selected by position starting with pitchers. Stats, coaches comments, team record, strength of schedule, and opposing coaches comments were all taken into account when making selections. Unfortunately, everyone that is nominated can not make the team. This does not by any stretch of the imagination mean that a player is not a good player. I can assure you that there was a thought process and adequate time was given to each player that was nominated. Imagine that you are the one that will take all the all-star team players, (three teams), and make one 15 player team to play Kentucky. Do you think some very good players will be left off that team? That answer is yes. The bottom line will be filling the best team that has a chance to beat the Kentucky team. The only way to keep people from feeling slighted is not not pick any all start teams period. I for one think that the Middle Tennesee All-star game and the soon to be TN-KY game is an honor to compete in and coach in. We talk with our girls all the time about making memories. I was fortunate to coach in the first all star game and the young ladies we dealt with had a blast and made lasting memories. Let me just again say that the selection process was done as fairly as possible. If anyone has constructive ideas about this process for the future or the MTSCA in general, please contact a MTSCA member or coach Conditt. This organization has a sole purpose to better the game for the girls in middle TN.
  11. Riverdale defeated these teams in route to the championship: Manual,Ky. Hopkinsville Central Danville, Ky. Wilson Central, TN. Henderson County, Ky. Henderson County had a pitcher that is as good as we have seen in Tennessee. This was a very good tournament that people in Tennessee should consider attending. Tennessee teams this year that attended: Bolton, Wilson Central, Ezell-Harding, Riverdale.
  12. Riverdale now has 20 on the season. Wade and Lyons go yard tonight.
  13. Riverdale has hit 18 as of 4/17/06. Seven different players have went yard.
  14. It was Brentwood 1 Coffee Co. 0, not Millington. Pools got changed around.
  15. I really don't know how many of the new calendar rules will be adopted by the TSSAA, but if TSSAA is an organization that is supposed to work for the betterment of schools coaches and administrators, they will leave most things with spring sports alone. This is a middle Tennessee perspective from me. Over the last 10 years the level of softball in Tennessee has skyrocketed. Not only is good softball played in Chattanooga and the Brentwood area, but it is played at a high level in the rural areas as well. The big thing that TSSAA thinks is going on is abuse of open facilities. The answer to that is to punish those schools in which the abuse occurs. Those schools and teams that are building indoor facilities should be able to put those to use. It is also unbelievable that a governing body would want to play preseason games without umpires. This is a liability issue. You are asking for trouble if no umpires are present. Number of games change. It was only a few years ago that the number of games were chaged to our current format. What is wrong with it now? If we have to give up something, let it be fall ball. Have your 10 days in the fall, pick your team, but do not play any games. NCAA is getting ready to ax fall ball also. My point in all of this is: leave spring sports alone and let them continue to get better. Our kids are already at a disadvantage to those from warm weather states that get to play year around. Coaches, Administrators, and the Coaches Association must be ready to take a stand in the fall when the regional meetings take place. You must let TSSAA know your feelings and voice your opinions.
  16. Guru, Has the Riverdale pool changed from first posted? Riverdale was scheduled to play Shelbyville, Summertown, and Brentwood. A new post has Riverdale playing Millington instead of Brentwood. Which is it?
  17. Thanks, Guru! My red has changed shades, but I guess still red.
  18. Someone list pools and times.
  19. The All Tournament team was announced immediately following the championship game of the tournament. If the individual coaches did not turn in their ballots, then take it up with them. Good tournament and excellently run by quality people.
