  1. The TSSAA website has a final score of Germantown 21, Houston 0.
  2. It's final! Kingsbury scores on a 20 yard pass with 7 seconds left to defeat Covington 20 - 14.
  3. Covington still leads Kingsbury, 14 - 13, at the end of the 3rd quarter.
  4. Milan 17, Carver 16 at the half.
  5. Covington 14, Kingsbury 13 with 1:22 left in the 2nd quarter.
  6. Greenbrier 7, Jackson Southside 7 with 1:29 left in the 2nd quarter.
  7. This link to the TSSAA website might help some. Hall of Fame sites and teams
  8. According to Haywood's schedule: Haywood vs. Jackson Northside @ Bolivar - Wed. Nov. 17 - 6:30 Haywood vs. Nashville McGavock @ Bolivar - Thurs. Nov. 18 - 6:30
  9. I guess you can call me a fair weather fan. Actually, I left for my car after the punt. So I was trying to tell the story based on what I could hear over the PA system while in the parking lot. Sorry I didn't get it exactly straight. I knew all was lost after the punt. I think I might try to go to the USJ - JCS or Jackson Southside - Greenbrier game. I believe the USJ - JCS game will be best. You can be sure both of those teams will bring their A game, and it will be intense!
  10. One of Haywood's poor punts gave Ridgeway the ball around mid-field. The Tomcats held the Roadrunners who then attempted about a 45 or 48 yard field goal. The kick was short, but one of the Tomcats ran into the kicker giving Ridgeway a first down. From there, Ridgeway scored their second TD to go up 20 - 7. I agree, that penalty was a killer. It sealed the deal!
  11. Yes, I did make it to the game. The Tomcats were flat, especially in the second half. The player who was not able to play would have given the Tomcats more power on offense. He is one of Haywood's leading rushers. On defense, he is a starting linebacker and the team's leading tackler. He is also the 1st string punter, another area were the Tomcats hurt. I'm not saying he would have changed the outcome of the game because Ridgeway played great, but the Tomcats definitely missed him. However, controlling your temper is part of the game. As others have mentioned, he has had a problem with that this year, and it finally caught up with him. It is ashame he couldn't have channeled that energy (anger) into being a stronger, but more sporstmanlike, team player.
  12. Ridgeway kicked two field goals to go up 6 - 0 in the first quarter. Haywood tied it 6 -6 with a TD in the 2nd quarter. Haywood could not generate much on offense. From the post game stats I heard, Haywood connected on 2 of 16 passes for 52 yards with one interception. Ridgeway did a good job of shuting down the running game too. Haywood had about 128 yards rushing. Haywood suffered with its lack of a kicking game also. The Tomcats had 2 punts for very little (maybe negative) yardage. Ridgeway had 268 yards rushing. The Roadrunners scored their first TD in the third and their 2nd TD with about 7 minutes left in the game, and it was all downhill for Haywood from there.
  13. Melrose 20, JCM 12 Ridgeway 27, Haywood 6
  14. Congratulations Ridgeway. You played a great game, and I would like to wish you good luck against Melrose.
  15. West Tennessee finals: Melrose 20, Jackson Central-Merry 12 Covington 28, Raleigh-Egypt 18 Memphis Carver 32, Memphis Treadwell 24 Memphis Kingsbury 14, Ripley 7
  16. Its final. Ridgeway 27, Haywood 6
  17. Scores as announced on 101.5 in Jackson. (All scores are games in progress.) Melrose 14, Jackson Central-Merry 12 USJ 35, Fayette Academy 6 Kingsbury 7, Ripley 7
  18. Ridgeway leads Haywood 27 - 6 with about 3 minutes left in the 4th quarter.
  19. If any Ridgeway fans are interested in eating after they get to Brownsville, the restaurants are slim in town. However, there are several choices at Exit 56. There is a Huddle House, Subway, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, McDonald's, Dairy Queen, and Kentucky Fried Chicken. Take Hwy. 76 into town, go straight on Anderson at the 4 way stop (By-pass and Anderson Ave.), turn right at the traffic light (Anderson Ave. and East Main), take a left on Boyd Ave. (immediately past the WOW building), and you will be at the stadium. Have a safe trip and good luck.
  20. I guess the coach thought it was to his advantage to lie about the incident. Coaches do that, you know. I don't know why he thought he could get away with it. Hundreds of people were either there or heard about it on the radio, and it had to be a matter of public record with the TSSAA. Craigmont was there and they knew it happened. I knew it happened, but I was tired of my integrity being challenged. Anyway, tonight is the night! Looks like it is going to be cool, and the field will be wet. We had some very heavy rain in Brownsville yesterday evening, and today's weather forecast calls for drying conditions to be low. Be careful, there is road construction from Exit 56 into town (a distance of about 4 miles). Have a safe trip to Brownsville, and good luck thumb
  21. Yes and no. I live in Haywood County about 6 miles from Brownsville. The head coach is the one who has been here since Coach Massey left.
  22. I don't think he was being entirely honest, but the coach should know! I'll stop posting about that particular incident, and I will let Haywood damage control handle it anyway they see fit! I am looking forward to the game, and I will be there for most of it. Good luck to both teams. Have you heard anything about the TSSAA taking any action against East for the incident that happened at the end of their game with Jackson Central-Merry?
  23. I can't remember playing Ridgeway in football either. Until recently, I think we have been in different classifications. I'm looking forward to an exciting game too. I may not make it until halftime because of a family obligation that I have in Jackson Friday evening. However, I will be able to listen to the first half of the game on Brownsville radio.
  24. I believe maa37maa is a Hardin Co. fan, and Haywood would like to thank him for his vote of confidence. However, he doesn't speak for Haywood. I can gaurantee you that no one at Haywood is taking Ridgeway lightly. We are well aware of Ridgeway's athletic tradition. We know the that the Roadrunners' 4 loses came against very tough competition. Melrose, Briarcrest, Rogers, and Hopkinsville have a combined record of 34-9. In fact both Melrose and Hopkinsville are undefeated at this time. The Tomcats have had a problem of putting together 4 good quarters of football in any one game this year, and there have been some discipline problems as well. Ridgeway may win, but it won't be because we are taking you liglthly. We know you will be ready to play. I'm just hoping the Tomcats will be able to solve some internal problems and play four good quarters of football. If we can, it should be a good game. Good luck to both teams Friday night thumb
  25. I was told today that he was ejected for foul language and that there was no head butt. The word around town is that he was ejected and that he will not play Friday. Good luck to both the Roadrunners and the Tomcats Friday night.
