  4. Bulldog86, just to throw my two cents worth in. I understand about the disparity between TN and OH as relates to the top recruits as you pointed out, but is that really relevant when talking about different teams? That would seem to point to OH winning an all-star game, but not necessarily that TN teams could not compete with top OH teams. Riverdale has had a few really good players over the years, but mostly it was the team that got it done. Team speed, team tenacity, team discipline in knowing their responsibilities that allowed Riverdale to beat teams that had one or two great players. Now if one of the OH teams you mentioned had several of the blue chip recruits, that could be a different story. Just for the record, I like Mississippi HS football. Some pretty decent players came out of there back during my day. Rice, Favre, Manning, Payton - just to name a few!
  5. Riverdale gets the bad taste out of their mouths against Antioch. Warriors by 17.
  6. the game after a big emotional win is always a scary one to me. The Oakland coaches know this and will keep the players focused on the next game, so I think Oakland wins. I should have gotten two hot dogs before the game Friday night - i only got one and couldn't get near the concession stand the rest of the night.
  7. Oakland (you can't believe how hard that was) Blackman Smyrna Lincoln County Wilson Central BA MBA Dekalb County Hillsboro Ravenwood
  8. I agree, unless the team i saw against BA doesn't show up again...
  9. I already changed my username once, from Riverdale to something i have used for several years. I hate to keep changing everytime a new team comes into the picture. I guess I could be warriorredraiderindianrangerrebelpatriotdawg, but can you imagine typing that to log in? I will stick with the one shirt for now and likely pick up a hoodie when it gets cooler. I am ready for football and hot dogs!!!!!!
  10. I bought my first Oakland t-shirt at the BA scrimmage. It really looks strange hanging in the closet with all the Riverdale ones. Biggest weak spot i saw at the scrimmage was punting (for BA as well), other than that i thought the Patriots were VERY impressive.
  11. I think you and I are the only UK football fans in the state! /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" /> In this state or in Kentucky?? Just kidding, i can't talk much being a Mississippi State grad. 2p, will you be at the BA scrimmage?
  12. funny stuff - add Jackie Sherrill as motivational consultant
  13. Well, i have figured out one big positive about rooting for Oakland this year. I will save about a million dollars in gas over last year, which was spent following Franklin County.
  14. 2p, i just don't want you to bail out on Oakland before you buy me that hot dog! We got into Riverdale about the same way you did Oakland it appears. We moved here from Mississippi in 1999 just before my son's 9th grade year. Didn't know Riverdale from Oakland from Smyrna from anything else up here. Just happened to buy a house on 231 South and that meant Riverdale. I will always pull for them just like I do for my old high school back in MS, but my butt will be in the seats whereever my son is coaching - and this year that means Oakland. I completely understand what you have been saying. I probably could eat two dogs, though, just so you know.
  15. Supposedly there was some jawing back and forth at the end of the scrimmage and a good size group got into a "scuffle" Boys will be boys. Nothing serious, brawl was probably a poor choice of words. I heard the Oakland kids were taking up for each other, which I would count as a positive. You supporting Riverdale, me supporting Oakland. So THIS is what Bizarro world feels like!
  16. I was there for the first hour. Bet you're wondering why - suffice it to say I will be following the Patriots this year. Amazing how things can change when family is involved. That is another reason I changed my screen name from Riverdale. I will pull for the Warriors every game but Week 0, and that is gonna be really weird. Defense looked good, although they gave up a couple of big plays in the 7 on 7. I don't know any of the kids yet, so I can't report. I did count 109 dressed out, which was impressive. I left before the brawl broke out. Guess I will learn all the subtle things about the hot dog this year. Funny feeling to be on the same side as you, 2p, but that's where I am for now.
  17. Sorry to butt in, but I love Company Aytch. I have probably read it through 5 or 6 times. I especially liked the parts where he tried different foods for the first time and got terribly sick. I remember rats and mussels from the Duck River I think. I have searched all over parts of where he fought at Stones River and Franklin - even found a CSA belt buckle where the new mall was just built in Murfreesboro. One of my employees was just named historian for the state of TN SCV. I know this is a football board, but I couldn't resist. Just to keep it on topic, go Maryville!
  18. If Maryville goes 60-0 in 5A, or even just 15-0 their first year, then I expect to hear about how they never play any quality out of state competition. Riverdale used to get beat up for that all the time on these boards. No matter how well the Rebels do, someone will think they should have done it differently. Most folks will recognize what an accomplishment it is and give the Rebels their proper respect, but some won't - and without those these boards would get boring pretty quickly /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> As for me, I hope the Rebels go 14-1 with the loss being to Riverdale in the BCB.
  19. Congrats to Coach Mac. Oakland may just have a fire lit under its tail this coming year. This seems to be a good hire to me. 2p, if you're happy, then I'm happy.
  20. South Panola is absolutely the real deal, but just up the road is North Panola -and whoever heard of them? It is more than just something in the water around Batesville. SP has even gone through a change of head coaches and still keeps on rolling. I don't know about them challenging the all-time win streak though - that is an amazing record to beat. Maryville is also the real deal, and it doesn't matter who you play or what classification you are in - win 60 in a row and you have to be recognized as something special.
  21. I've tried them all - and then some! No cat, not born in 31, but somedays it feels that way
  22.
