my two cents It is hard sometimes for a team to come off an emotional win like WC had over Riverdale and be ready for the next game. I predict Smyrna gets up early and holds on for the win. It amazes me how far WC has come since the first game of the season against Franklin County. Either way, the winner of this game takes the gold ball. my two cents.

I guess I am surprised no one has mentioned the guy down at Franklin County - unless i missed it in a post somewhere.

don't expect much of a crowd. Last night was senior night for FC and the crowd was pretty sparse. Mostly students walking around and not watching the game.

FC could easily be 4-3 right now, but they don't seem to know how to finish. They are certainly not as bad as their record might indicate. Don't know if they will show up against Cookeville or not, but the Cavs better not take this game for granted. Once FC gets used to winning games at the end instead of losing them, they might find out they like that feeling a whole lot.

I saw WC against Franklin County in week 0, i think it was. Although WC won the game by 21, spread out over two nights due to lightning, they were not terribly impressive when compared to Riverdale's usual standards. I assume it was just first game bugs and kinks, because you don't get to be 7-0 without being pretty danged good.

But if the spelling is wrong, you have technically rated a team that does not exist, so it could not be a 100% correct poll. I think you are probably right, though - it was likely misspelled all those other times. The extra "r" makes it a lot more fun to say out loud.

The FC - WC game was very unusual. The game was called because of lightning right after the half, and the rest was played on Saturday night. I only saw the Friday night part. WC led 21-7, but it really wasn't that impressive. First game for both teams, and it showed. Oakland's defense was pretty dominant against FC. I really don't know what to make of the Oakland offense since they only had to drive 10-20 yards for most of their scores against FC. They fumbled one in the backfield that Valentine then picks up and runs all the way in. Oakland needs some consistency on offense if they are going to be a contender for a playoff spot. I think they put together a complete game this week. Surely they are working on the exchange! Oakland 17 - WC 14

I've seen WC and Oakland both this season, and it is hard to make a pick. Oakland has got to protect the football. They had at least 8-10 fumbles against Franklin County, mostly on the center - QB exchange. If they can hold onto the ball, I believe the Patriots will win this game.

The link in the previous post is a good one. There are forums just like on CoachT, and a lot of good information is on there. I don't know if Shannon has a web site devoted to past teams. They have at least one state championship and several deep trips into the playoffs over the past 10-12 years. Always seem to have a great QB and good skill people. They moved from 3A to 4A several years ago. They are ranked pretty high in the latest polls. Mississippi has some pretty good teams, most notably South Panola. I think they have the current longest winning streak in the nation at over 60 games and at the 5A level. Shannon is not at that level, but they are certainly a top team in MS 4A. JCM better be in shape!

Speaking of hot dogs - FC ran out of those and burgers before the game began 2 weeks ago. Took a little while to restock the stand. They were pretty good once they put them out there though. I usually grab a burger and a dog on my way into a game. Kinda threw off my rhythm when I had to find a seat and then go get food.

FC has gotten a little better every game. Hopefully they can get a win against Oakland.

I have seen all the FC games also, and I would have to give Tullahoma an edge over WC. If you think about it, WC did not do a whole lot against FC after the first few minutes. I say Tullahoma by 10. Congrats to WC for their 3-0 start, and you never know - it could be 4-0.

I graduated from Shannon back in 1978, in fact my father was the head coach there for years. I keep up with them pretty well. I would say you are going to have your hands full with the Red Raiders. They are always explosive on offense, and this year is no exception. I think they returned something like 9 of 11 starters on defense. They should go far into the playoffs this year, as they do most years. Shannon is an established program with a winning history. I would love to come see that just to visit the home folks!

I've seen all three FC games, and they are hard to figure out. They seem to dig themselves into a big hole at the start of games, and then outplay their opponents the rest of the way. They were down 14-0 after three minutes against Warren County, then outscored the Pioneers 19-6 the rest of the way. If they could ever start off strong, who knows? I honestly think the Rebels should be 2-1 right now, but after two heartbreaking last minute losses, who knows how they will respond. They did a much better tackling job last week. They get to the football pretty well, but have not tackled well. They are pretty decent at the skill positions, so Oakland better not take them lightly. Based on what I have seen, I have to pick OAkland in this one, but I hope I am wrong. The FC kids need a win to get over the hump - if they win, they might find out they like it. 2P, hate you will miss it. I guess I will be there - gotta support my boy.
