  1. You need glasses. That was #23 you were watching in the 4th qt not #33, and also not that you even deserve this info, but that wasn't an onside kick...trust me. I know. Think about it...would it have been so high?
  2. Bearden's #42 was a treat to watch tonight. I've coached for a bit now, and what a player!
  3. FYI...this is not my writing (I am not that good) This was in todays Knoxville News Sentinell.
  4. Here is what really happened. "Questionable calls mar Bearden loss at Smyrna 17-14" One could tell it was a first class operation. Upon turning off Nissan Drive onto Bulldog Drive, visitors were greeted with light wand-waving attendants who directed them to the next available parking space. The stadium had ample concrete bleachers on the visitor???‚¬?„?s side that rivaled many local schools???‚¬?„? entire complex. The home side was huge. The restrooms were immaculate. The Smyrna Bulldogs are the reigning state 5A champs. The infl uence of Nissan money and that of other fringe businesses that support the huge auto plant just across the street was apparent. Smyrna High School runs a fi rst class football operation. This championship experience became noticeable early in the game as the Bearden Bulldogs exhibited a mild case of the jitters. After the fi rst possession, Bearden punted and the coverage broke down, which allowed the Smyrna speed to set up the fi rst touchdown. Just a little over two minutes into the game, the Bulldogs in purple and yellow drew fi rst blood. Questionable calls mar Bearden loss at Smyrna 17-14 On the ensuing drive, Bearden experienced what was to become a recurring theme for the night ???‚¬??? the hospitable ???‚¬?“home cooking.???‚¬?? After Brandon Pemberton burst through the middle of the Smyrna defense to be dragged down on the Smyrna 26-yard line, Dawson Halliday completed a pass to Madison English to the 17-yard line only to see the ball turned over on a questionable fumble call. The fi rst half ended after a series of Bearden mistakes that could be attributed to the ???‚¬?“championship jitters???‚¬?? with Smyrna on top 17-0. The Bearden ???‚¬?“Wrecking Crew???‚¬?? defense settled down in the second half to contain the vaunted Smyrna offense. The offense seemed to gain its rhythm and the Smyrna cooks in striped shirts opened up the kitchen. First it was a series of unfavorable Bearden spots on short yardage situations and then it became blatantly clear when a Halliday to Darious Dubose pass was caught for a touchdown and was ruled out-of-bounds. But it was a touchdown. Neither team scored in the third quarter. And as time was ticking away late in the fourth with 3:52 remaining, Cory Eichholtz caught a Halliday pass that had been tipped by two Smyrna defenders to tumble into the endzone for Bearden???‚¬?„?s fi rst score. Bearden kickoff specialist, senior Jon-Michael Craze, set the ball for the onside kick. The Bulldogs in white executed it to perfection as Craze???‚¬?„?s kick landed precisely on the 50-yard line and the Bearden assault team demolished the Smyrna receivers while the snatchers covered the ball. Bearden worked the ball to the Smyrna 9-yard line with passes to English and Torey Works. Halliday hit C.J. Gunn over the middle for Bearden???‚¬?„?s second touchdown with 1:17 remaining. Brandon Reagan???‚¬?„?s point after kick was good and the score stood at 17-14. Craze again precisely placed the ball near the 50-yard line. The Smyrna receiver made the mistake of jumping forward to the 49 to catch it, only to be upended by the Bearden assault team. Matt Williamson and Works combined to recover the kick, only to have the chefs in striped shirts rule that the ground caused the fumble. Unless the ground had mysteriously been elevated a foot in the air, this was not the case, as the ball clearly fell out of the purple-clad Bulldog???‚¬?„?s hands on his way to the ground. The Wrecking Crew once again stuffed the Smyrna offense and after some dithering about by the cooks, Smyrna fi nally punted with 13.7 seconds remaining. The piddling around by the offi ciating crew had cost Bearden more than 11 precious seconds. And so the dream ended as English caught a Halliday pass deep in Smyrna territory and was shoved out of bounds as time expired. If you???‚¬?„?re ever in Smyrna, stay away from the Zebra Caf???© located at 100 Bulldog Drive. The food is really lousy there. All Bearden fans, parents, players, students etc... Don't worry, TSSAA is aware of this game and it is being investigated. Although we all know that it changes nothing, at the very least those officials have worked their last game. Also, if you haven't allready done so, go to the TSSAA website and click on feedback and say your peace. SMYRNA FANS: realize that no one is blaming you all for anything. You were also robbed of a clean win with no controversy.
  5. Don't trash talk the coaches. They work very hard. Besides, Martland had no time to throw, and the o.c. knew that. Bearden was just better than Farragut on both sides of the ball and at every position on Friday night. Go DAWGS! We BELIEVE! FINISH THE MOVIE!
  6. He had a "horrible night" because Bearden's defense is SUPERIOR!!!!
  7. ineligible player? can you elaborate for the bulldogs curiosity? maybe position?
  8. These two teams have different definitions of "discipline." You could see it in the warm up. The owls stood around in packs with helmets off, looking every which way and the dawgs stood in a line with helmets on watching the starters go thru the plays. Even the socks said alot. The owls had black, red, white or none...again, the dawgs were all the same. I know these things are minor, but if you can't get the easy stuff accomplished, the game discipline will never be there. Great job Bearden! Way to hold #5 to 11 yards, and the entire team to under 100. Your defense is something else. Offense, way to get it done once again, you all are solid. Good Luck next week.
  9. Not sure you know as much about the Dawgs as you think. I can maybe see the comparison to Works, but Halliday and Williamson? You are really reaching. Just take a look at their stats. The passing game doesn't even compare to BHS and 38 tackles to Williamson's 72 and according to WBIR, he has 10 sacks with the AC kid having 4. I might be wrong, but does Williamson even play TE? I know he has gone in a couple of times...he probably should. I am sure the AC is a strong kid and very talented, he is big, but I wouldn't say "he is better on both sides of the ball." Maybe get your facts straight before you make such strong statements, however, you are entitled to your opinion.
  10. FHSFOOTBALL...quit your crying. Do I need to remind you about the touchdown that the refs gave you in the Bearden game when the Bearden QB's arm was clearly in forward motion (even Farragut fans were shocked at that call.) That also "definitely had an outcome on the game." You lost. Great Job McMinn County.
  11. keep thinking that way......maybe even 1000 yards...GO DAWGS!
  12. Any word on the injured player?

ok, i have held off in commenting on this thread, but i can't any longer. I will be brief with my comments: 1. This years freshman qb was not even on the winning supermidget rec team. I think he played for Karns. 2. It sounds to me that the people writing on this thread don't know the freshman team very well. The starters could not be more supportive, they were at almost every varsity game, and felt the loss just like the v. players did. They even make comments like "the freshmen don't matter, no one cares about our record, we are a part of the varsity team" 3. You don't need to worry about "paying their dues"...they know that. They are a smart, supportive, and aware group of kids. Also, lets not blame the kids...did they demand the "advantages" that they got this year? NO! It was not their decision to go to camp...many did not even want to go. So lets give credit where credit is due and blame where blame is due. 4. Given the right coaching, BHS will be back in the "ballgame" 5. About the blowouts and playing time...well, you obviously weren't at the games. The third string was in by the end of the 2nd quarter in the 57-0 game. Please get your facts straight before you make accusations. 6. The last thing, we ALL need to become more unified. If parents cant do it, then how can we expect it out of the players? Maybe I wasn't so brief afterall. Sorry
