  1. Bledsoe and Chase are on fire. I like the way they play as a team and do not always put self first. I expect to see them at the next level.

I am talking about how he acted like an idiot. He was the cockiest jerk I have ever met. He may have not liked how the parents of Antioch behaved, but he contributed to the horrible behavior of his young players. It is all about him - not the players. The game on television from the Arby's Classic (when they got destroyed by a team that wasn't as talented as them) was a perfect example of what a class act he is not. He was making comments for "TV" to make himself look good and not to encourage and instruct his players. Sorry that I offended you. You are probably his clone brother.
  3. OK. Then, ther answer is no, he is not playing in college,
  4. You may be surprised by the final 2006-2007 Sagarin rankings and where your favorite TN high school players are going. Individual team ranking is one thing, but sometimes, the conference ranking is more prestigious because of who they play year in and year out. Not meant to say anyone is better than anyone else. Just interesting. Rank Player Team 06/07 Sagarin Team/Conference Ranking 1 Phillip Jurick Tennessee (12) (2) SEC 2 Elliott Williams Duke (24) (1) ACC 3 Terrico White Ole Miss (57) (2) SEC 4 Quinche Dowdell Appalachain ST (67) (18) Southern 5 Laurence Bowers Missouri (73) (6) Big 12 6 Tyler Cutter Indiana State (130) (7) Missouri Valley 7 Erik Buggs Valpo (142) (12) Horizon - new this year 8 Arnette Moultrie UTEP (150) (10) C-USA 8 Jason Jones UTEP (150) (10) C-USA 10 Jarvis Jones ETSU (157) (28) A-Sun 11 Tyrone Caldwell Austin Peay (170) (26) OVC 11 James Harris Austin Peay (170) (26) OVC 13 DeMario Williams MTSU (187) (12) Sun Belt 14 Zach Ricketts Army (234) (21) Patriot 15 Jon Primm UNC Asheville (265) (27) Big South (cannot verify commitment by Rivals) 16 Carter McMasters Liberty (268) (27) Big South 17 Kevin Giltner Wofford (269) (27) Big South 18 Martino Brock SEMO (286) (26) OVC Any surprises based on rankings from other sources? Doesn't mean this is how good they are. Kids make personal choices and coaches have different needs each year, but I thought this was interesting. We have about another 10-12 more players that will sign D-I - IMO. It will be fun to see where they decide to go.
  5. Nice addition to MTSU. However, at one time, most AAU coaches and even local college coaches would have told you he was going to be a high major. Still think he is very good and will be able to get some playing time at MTSU, but he is an example of a player who may have been better off spending more time focusing on basketball. Either that, or spend more time playing football. He tried to do both, but it did not work out for him to make it to the highest level in basketball. I hope he is happy to be where he is and I am sure he is. I am just saying that he did not achieve what everyone thought he would. Good luck to him. He ha a real shot at A Mr. basketball this year!
  6. I agree that Maryville will be good without Douglas, but not good enough to win this tough district. The top 4 teams in this district may match up with the top 4 teams in any district in the state.
  7. You must know someting we don't. That is a bold prediction for a team that barely won 10 games last year.

This does not surprise anyone who saw them play. I am surprised they did not get more technicals based on their language, taunting and overall dirsespect. However, their coach was a total idiot last year and did not know how to handle them. The new coach will do a better job of keeping their trash talking and rude behavior in check. Their fans are just as bad and probably fuel their behavior on the court. All that being said, they probably have the best starting 5 in the state. Talent, that is...........
  9. Should surprise some teams this year.
  10. Jurick is the best big man in the state. I agree with you about McMasters, if you asre talking about a true 4 or 5. He is a very good shooter for his height and is not a bad shot blocker. He is weak and does not have the tenacity to be a good post player. Yet, I still think Liberty got a steal and do not think he is that overrated. After Jurick: Drew Kelly Laurence Bowers Arnette Moultire Michael McAdoo Tajh Wells Ferrakhon Hall Johnny Williams Aaron Douglas Carter McMasters (even though he is not a true 4 or 5, I still put him on this list because of his height) Rogers Gaines Daryl Miller Brennan Torstrick Zach Ricketts Kyle Binder Patrick Shaughnessy Joe Meady Nicholas Livesay
  11. Franklin will do very well this year. I think Young is a good college prospect. I expect him to be a D-I player and could be a major if he continues to work hard. I predict Franklin will win 25 games this year.
  12. Anybody know if Jordan Damron is being recruited by any colleges? After his performance in the state tournament last year, I would have thought he would be going D-I.
  13. I agree with this ranking. Without Douglas, Maryville drops to #4.

If the new coach would have been hired 2 years ago, I would say that they would definitley win this year. Unfortunately, you can't make everything right in one season. If they do win (and they ahve the talent to do it), then the coach deserves the "coach on the decade" award.
  15. Best Dunk Ever - Terrico White Most Dunks on a consistent basis - Tahj Wells Most spectacular on a consistent basis - Rayshawn Walker
  16. Not fair to compare how Cutter's team did when White County was far more talented than Siegel- top to bottom. Cutter will be playing in the Missouri Valley Conference next year. Name 100 other players in the state that have the ability to even play college basketball - let alone in one of the top basketball conferences in the country. Don't get me wrong, I love White County's team. They are going to have a hard time keeping everyone happy this year, because they are so deep. I wouldn't be surprised if they make a run at the state title this year. I don't think Siegel's team will be able to hold a candle to White County again this year. If you are a player or fan of White County, good luck and I hope to be watching you in Murfreesboro come state tournament time. Delaney plays like a winner. He hits the open man and plays hard on defense and can score when called upon. I think he is the engine that makes that team run. Greene is a scoring machine and plays that role very well. I like the one guard that has long side burns and is quick and has a nice shot. Their big young post player is very fundamentally sound. And I know you have more players that are good too. They might have been my favorite team to watch all year - including Maryville. Then, next year, I hope to catch one of Cutter's games on TV.
  17. ?????????????? Are you talking about Elliot Williams? Collierville? Did he transfer? DeMario Williams? Doesn't he go to Culleoka? You are either confused or there have been some major changes in TN high school basketball this year.
  18. No interest in play days? This will be a showcase of talent and very good teams.
  19. Post players? What about your boy from Blackman. He will have a good year. Player of the Year - Cutter is the best player, but too many politics and other factors to give that up too easily to him. Maupins will not be in consideration because he will average about 10 PPG, but what people don't relaize is that he will get 8 APG and 2-3 spg. I like that kid! Michael Young should be neck and neck with Cutter. When you look at what a player does for a team, Young is almost as valuable as Cutter at the high school level. Cutter is obviously a better player, but Young is one of those guys you do not want to play against. He is very special. Tyler Greene made All-State last year and wasn't the best player on his team. Politics obviously play a role in that award, so he could win MVP this year, because he plays on the best team and he will probably average the most points. Give me Delaney over him any day. Alex Carter - May have a shot, because he will put up some points and has more grit than what people think. Judah Akers - May have breakout year. Could put up 30 multiple times - the boy can light it up. Coach needs to give him the green light. Chris Weitzel - Tall skinny kid from Warren County could be hard to stop this year. McCarver (I think he is back) - He is a little better than Maupins, because he can shoot better. Great overall PG - Shoots well, sees the court and handles the ball very well (Nobody handles it like Maupins - except maybe Twilley from Shelbyville). Cutter - If young Siegel players hold up their end of the bargain, Cutter could have a phenomenal year. He did great last year with double teams and box and ones, etc., but he needs to be able to dish to other scorers, so teams will have to play him a little more honest. If summer ball is an indicator, watch out. He may not score as much, but he plays a complete game - rebounding - assists - steals - points. He will play to win and stats will be secondary.
  20. This is a good year for Middle TN AA Basketball. 1. CPA 2. White House - Gaines is huge - How can you stop him? 3. Livingston Academy 4. Station Camp 5. Harpeth
  21. Wish I could be there. Great Playday with great players and teams. Briarcrest is by far the best team and should win all of their games handily, but then again, at playdays, we all know that lineups are mixed and matched, etc. Questions for anyone who knows: 1. Will Terrico play or will he have to sit out due to football? 2. Are there any other key players that play football from other teams in this playday? 3. According to Rivals, Hamilton has a transfer from Texas, Nathen Garth, 6'3" PG, that has committed to New Mexico. Is this true and how good is he? Must be pretty good if Alford recruited him. Top teams at playday: 1. Briarcrest - McDonald, Lee, Williams, Wooten - are you kidding me? 2. Union City - M.J. is not the only talented player on this team 3. Craigmont (If White plays) 4. Christian Bros - May be the deepest team of them all - not one real standout 5. Siegel - Cutter is very good, but will struggle at this playday because team is young (3 Sophs - May be the strongest Sophomore class in the state) Watch out for them in February. 6. Liberty - Great coach and great shooter in Holt 7. Haywood - Taylor is very strong and I like Pickens 8. Hamilton - Could be way better if Garth is for real 9. Covington - Don't know them well enough to comment Others? Truth be known, it is very hard to predict how good a high school team will be. There maybe 5-6 sleeper players from these teams that no one knows about - that either grew or matured, practiced to get better, etc. That is what makes high school basketball so much fun! I would be surrised if there are not tons of AAU coaches there trying to make their presence know so they can start jockeying for position for talented youngsters playing on this day.
  22. Don't envy the coach from the attitude perspective. If the new coach can somehow get all the players to stay out of trouble, play unselfish and get the parents and fans to stay under control, then they should be very very good. If they do all of that, I would still see them getting beat by Maryville in the state tournament.
