I do think this is the year. I'm not one of these fools buying into the 50 points or mercy rules crap, hopefully the GB players aren't either. If GB plays their game, they win. Doesn't matter to me if it is one point or 5 td's. What this Greenback coaching staff has done the last 3 seasons has been nothing short of amazing. In my not so humble opinion, before the season started 3 years ago the program was getting ready for a trip to the toilet. It took almost divine intervention to get the right coaches in place and since then coach Ryan and company have put up Quarles and Rankin type numbers. The only thing missing is the gold ball and I believe it's coming.

I agree with you on the coaching. Best GB has had in many years. Their record since taking over from the one coach who never coached a down has been outstanding. Different eras and before my time, while it may be premature, I'm thinking Satterfield has a serious rival for greatest GB coach.

There was a lot of beef on the o-line for CF. The guarding against a QB run makes some sense though by mid game it looked pretty obvious he wasn't running anywhere. No matter, GB took care of business and on to the next round. Again- nice win, fun game for the home fans on what could have been the last great weather night of the year

Nothing new with the Knox rag snubbing GB. Nice win and fun game to watch. Tell me , weren't you a bit concerned at GB's lack of a pass rush ? Not looking for fault in a 3 td win but CF's QB had all the mobility of the tin man before he got oiled and we couldn't get to him. On several plays he had time for a smoke break in the pocket and he threw some pretty good balls. I saw at least 4 that should have been caught, I am certain GB's receivers would have caught at least 3 of them and scored. Had CF's guys been able to catch them, we have a basketball score and he who has the ball last wins.

Yeah- we'll call it resting. Plenty of rumors some " rest " is being considered for 4 or 5 folks but until I hear it from a more credible source there is nothing to add.

I think it's more than coaches being coy. Way too many variables. The larger , better programs are likely still wrestling off to see who gets the start and this can change several times, there is still the issue of who makes weight and how long it will take him to get down to the final weight towards the end of the season. A few wrestlers are still playing football ....

WB football about as exciting as watching turtles mate. Probably should leave the phone in the car and enjoy the game you are attending.

I don't care who goes. Take a team from another region who has a winning record and give them a chance to play for gold. There must be some region who has a decent team left out in the current format. It can't be that difficult.

I'm not so sure. It appears WB has gotten so comfortable losing it will be tough to turn off the switch.

Somebody should go in their spot . GB out a home game and byes tend to break momentum of teams on a roll. T$$AA should be able to figure out a substitute for GB to play

Greenback wins big. Midway's record is WAY better than they are and GB isn't going to let down at home against a pretender. ( of course I had Clemson winning big last night too so I could be wrong but I would empty my wallet on this one if there are any takers. )

Sounds bad but I've learned through painful experience not to get too invested when I only hear one side of a situation. Something tells me there is more to the story than some heartless administrator kicking a guy while he is down.

I haven't seen anything official but my guess is both McMinn county and Greenback wrestling programs will cease to exist this year. Greenback has been struggling for the last couple of years and McMinn has been on life support for decades. Neither school has much if any support from it's administration.

I can think of at least 2 in east TN that have been circling the drain for a few years that will likely get the final flush this season. Any more in middle or west TN ?

I see the freshmen and a couple of eighth graders playing before halftime. I guess you have to play the game before you can bank the win, and there is always the one in a couple million chance the entire GB team could come down with dysentery or some other debilitating condition but baring that - GB romps

CAK looks to be awful this year. A glance at their schedule says 0-10 is a real possibility for them.
