  1. CSAS was also missing about 25+ as well for the second night in a row as PG Alex Stallion tried to play but couldn't due to a shoulder injury. Would love to have seen the Cartwright kid and Stallion play against each other. Coach Smith does a great job at SCHS but the Patriots are and were the stronger team. After "laying an egg" on Monday against Hixson it was good to see a better effort by CSAS.
  2. CSAS is playing Hixson but I don't know who else or what times.
  3. Another Saturday night has CSAS and East Third Street "rockin" as the Patriots beat Howard and Brainerd on two Saturday nights in a row!
  4. Since there are only like about 5 schools in D II and you only have to win one game to make it to the state I would hope that they could make it that far!!!
  5. I agree that Howard will improve as the year goes along. Moose is too good a coach for them not to get better. But for the "record" CSAS did not play all that well. Their guards took too many bad shots and had too many turnovers. Howard scored inside whenever they wanted. The Patriots just have a lot of depth and a lot of experience and a win is a win!
  6. East Third Street was rocking tonight when the CSAS Patriots defeated the Howard Tigers 63-54 in a game that was standing room only!
  7. Clay County beat Grace Academy by about 20. I thought Clay played better in their second game they played Saturday. They could have a pretty good year.
  8. Is Clay County going to be the top team in their region this year?
  9. Grace was missing their two inside guys but this score is still hard to believe. A great win for Whitwell especially after getting beat by CSAS by 45 in the jamboree.
  10. You might learn a little about them if you visit 865 East Third Street this Saturday. Clay County plays both Grace Academy and CSAS in Hall of Fame games.
  11. Does anyone know or have opinions about the play day at East Ridge today?
  12. CSAS Boys beat Whitwell 55-10, Richard Hardy and Signal Mtn. tied 25-25. Don't know any other scores or even who played.
  13. The '92 CSAS team would have won the single A state had they not been bumped to AA that year where they won twenty games and beat AA and AAA teams. The '98 team has already been mentioned on here as a single A team that was bumped up to AA and instead of winning the single A state they were beat in the AA substate but competed well winning 20 games again that year. The 2005 team was AA and went to the substate again as one of the smallest AA teams in the state. Finally back in single A for a while CSAS has won been to two states in the last 4 years and four substates while beating bigger schools with good teams like Mc Minn Central, Mc Callie, Ooltewah, and others. There are other single A teams across the state that have had similiar success as this. You don.t have to be a big school to be a good school.
  14. I would also ask the same about Grace Baptist. Significant losses from last year and their best player returning is injured. Have they got some new players?
  15. Don't know where the James kid is from......I guess he could be from anywhere. The bigger question is whether or not he is paying his way for school. The Atlanta kids are being "steered" to Mc Callie by a Mc Callie alum who is coaching them in AAU and then as a "representative" of Mc Callie funneling them to his old school. I would say that D II or not this is not legal and should be looked into.
  16. Who will be the top teams in Region 4-A next year? Who has what coming back? Pickett? Clay? Friendship? Red Boiling Springs? Someone else?
  17. I am not complaining or whining, I am simply stating how the Patriots have played all year. They should have taken and made more outside shots and they would have beaten Clarksville without question. The gameplan they followed was a solid one without knowing how the game would be called. The game was officiated in a way that was an advantage to Clarksville. I would love to see the two teams play again, maybe before the state tournament. Think Clarksville would agree to play a home and home next season? Tell their coach to call ours and I will tell our coach the same.
  18. The gameplan for CSAS all year and against Clarksville Academy is to attack the basket, getting the opposing team in foul trouble and getting to the free throw line. What had worked all year for them did not work in the semi-finals because the whistle was not blowing when contact was repeatedly made on the Patriot end of the floor. Clarksville shot two or three times the number of free throws (35-12?) and was called for fewer fouls. CSAS shot a low percentage in large part to the fouls that were not called underneath the basket. The stats on paper show a winning game plan executed with the exception of the non-calls. End of game, but not end of discussion.
  19. CSAS has everyone back but two seniors who averaged less than a minute of playing time per game this year. They should be one of the favorites to win it all next year. They just need to work on their outside game and continue to improve overall and they will be a tough team to play. Clarksville will be good again but I believe they are losing a couple of starters. Grace loses a lot. I think CSAS is the only team at the state who does not lose anything.
  20. A sign of a good team is when they do what they are capable of doing against another team or in tonight's game.......when you can play really bad and still win! RBS played as well as they could and we played as bad as we could.....but we showed a lot of heart and hung in there long enough to win!
  21. Who comes out on top and what are both teams chances on making it to the final 8?
  22. Arts and Sciences beat Grace Academy for the second time this season yet Grace is still ranked considerably above them. The Patriots have also beaten Mc Callie (ranked in the top ten D-II) and have three of their six losses to #2 Howard in AA. Why no "love" for the Patriots?
  23. Nice win for Baylor. Good coaching always has a chance against GREAT TALENT!
