MBA v Ensworth in finals. Not a more polished and balanced offense than MBA. They match every score in every series against their opponent. You are required to score at least 50 point to beat them. The QB is smart, athletic, and never wilts under pressure. However, Ensworth has the horses to do the same plus their defense may be a slight more experienced. If MBA's defense tighens up a tad, MBA wins it.
He doesn't have to say it. Riverdale's schedule isnt as tough as FR, McCallie, Baylor, MBA, Cleveland, Bradley, Soddy, etc.
They have some really good wrestlers though.
It doesnt't matter to me if a D2 or A-AA kid can win or place in D1. Bottom line is is every division on the second weekend of February is watered down, and there will never be a true state champion. Have the Region tourney the 3rd Saturday in January, the feel good state tourney for the sensiive the last Saturday in January, and a true state consolidated tourney with no team scoring shortly after that.
-113-Murphy v Novarrro- Murphy wins. King (106) of FR beat Novarro. Murphy is better than King;
-138- Connell -Russo- Connell wins;
-152- Sutherland over Warren;
-160- Popp (One of the best in TN P4P) over Dooley;
-182- Parker v Soloman is a toss up. Leaning toward Soloman.
I just don't see winning your weight class at the state individual tourney the ultimate accomplishment anymore. The D1 tourney is tough because of the 32 man bracket but lacks the other two divisions competing. D2 is almost like wrestling in a district tourney in the 1970s-1990s. A-AA looks more like a 1988 Region tourney. I may be wrong but it seems that the proponents of the split are teams that have a history of being weak or are weak now. The current format is not as exciting to me and reminds me of the YMCA. Does winning state individual tourney mean you are the best in your weight class in Tennessee?
What if a D1 freshman beats the retuning state champion in the Region tourney the week before...is the freshman seeded in the state? And could it be possible that the freshman Region champ draw the reigning state champ the first round of the state tourney?
Heard a rumor of quadruple hearsay proportions that the D2 state bracket will only be seeded by previous state placers. If so, we may see the #1 and #2 kids wrestle first round in a weight class or 2. Please tell me no.
There may be separation due to a few years in age but not as much of a differnece between Murphy and Oliver. No way. Love to see them wrestle tonight when King was well and hydrated.
