  1. I think it be lookin good! Just couldn't resist.
  2. Its good to know there is someone out there working to promote the sport. I would suggest you do a match of the week. It seems to me it would be to hard to follow if multiple mats are going at one time. Will this be a video broadcast or audio? Do you charge to do something like this or is this something you do for fun? I would bet you could do some big matches over the year. If you have never been to see a McCallie vs Baylor match you would be in for a treat. Something like that would be fantastic. I think that Soddy Daisy and Baylor, Bradley vs Cleveland, Franklin vs Brentwood, Ravenwood vs Brentwood, Ryan vs MBA, Clarksville vs Ryan would all be fantastic matches. Are there any matches on the west coast that might interest people? Chime in! I am only making suggestions as to what might be good to see. What is the rivalry for Notre Dame now? I don't think they wrestle Ryan anymore, so who is their rivalry? I sure hope this webcasting works.
  3. Not quite sure if he is still on the staff or not. I heard he wasn't coaching as much last year, just used mostly as a consultant. Did his boy graduate?
  4. I am sure you do carry his bags. Problem is, he is the only one you carry. I thought you had 13 others on your team. :justwrestle:
  5. Maybe I am reading this wrong. Although, I don't agree with the bluewhilygig often, I think he was complimenting Coffee on his accomplishments so far. The only disparaging comments the gig had, was to the lack of coaching he was getting at JPII. One must remember, because you wrestled before, this doesn't make you a good coach. If you compare the success of the JPII program to others in the area you will find out it is struggling at best. Yes, it is a young program, but how can you say that Coffee was taught well by his coach and that is why he is successful when the others on the team have not had the same success. I believe that is what the gig is referring to. Coffee is on a young team and he is accomplishing many great things because of his athletic ability. Once the others on the team have more time under their belt they might experience more success. Just a thought.
  6. KnightTime, Do you also carry his bags?
  7. Bump diddy Bump diddy Bump Bump Bump!
  8. Animal, Don't feel left out. I didn't know either. CBG, Did you wrestle for Drennan at Ryan? Sounds like a good coach in his day. I thought Al Posnak was a great coach in his day. Has anyone ever given a thought to him. He had some great teams at Bellevue High and Hillwood High. If I remember right I believe Coach Posnak lead a team from Hillwood to beat one of the great Overton teams when McTorry was wrestling during the 90's. I sure thought he was one of the best in Middle Tennessee.
  9. What the heck does that mean? Holmes might be one of the most successful wrestling coaches in all of Memphis.
  10. Can you list the top 5 wrestlers from each division?
  11. Rigger, can you list those 2 and 3 time state champs who did well? Even better, what 2 and 3 time state champs have won less than 2 matches at the nationals? This might be hard to compile. Maybe someone can. I do have a comment about Junior Nationals and what it might do for you. If this tournament is so important to the development and hopeful recognition of these kids, then someone tell me what happened to Manson of Baylor who placed second at this all important tournament last year. I don't believe as good as Manson is and what he did last year at this tournament (placing 2nd), did it help him in national rankings or achieve the recognition he deserved.
  12. Was Harlow from Tennessee? I remember that Sewanee was a boarding school during those days. Can anyone tell me if he was a Tennessee boy or did he come from somewhere else? Either way I think Harlow was a 2 X placer and a stud on top of that. Some great wrestlers here in Tennessee.
  13. Well said CBG. As a former public schooler myself, it is tragic to all kids who compete. This reminds me of the 60's. I don't like them because....... well you get the picture. Thanks for a good post.
  14. BL, I have to disagree with your assessment of ND and its "several champions over the past several years". Who for them have won a DII championship over the past several years. I am not here trying to downgrade the ND program. I am trying to bring reality to your post. I believe if ND were to have had several champs in the past several years there might be a chance to compare. But being realistic about this whole thread you can't compare no matter how much your try. In some years there are weight classes that are deep as can be on both DI and DII. In other years there are weight classes that are just down right pitiful and that includes DI and DII. So how can you really compare oranges and apples!
  15. WV, I agree with you on this. It is quite interesting to see BB comment on this. D1 voted to separate into two tournaments so your guys could have a better chance to win. Enough said on that. Now you want to tell them how to run their tournament. Priceless! I guess you will want a Master Card next.
  16. SBA, don't think it is a shoulder problem because he has wrestled in open tournaments already this year as an unatached wrestler. Word from the Cornell followers is that his dad wanted him to take the medical redshirt year. Although I don't know that for a fact it is only what I have heard on other boards. By the way how did your team from SBA do at the Black Horse? Good luck this year.
  17. Word is Medical Redshirt year.
  18. Who were the stand-out performers this weekend? Did anybody catch your attention? Who were the surprise performers? Sounds like this was a good tournament. Do the Houston coaches ever invite teams from Chattanooga?
  19. News flash- even though there might be a match the night before the tournament, this doesn't automatically mean everyone gets a pound for the tournament. The coach of the team who wrestles the night before must have contacted the tournament director and notify them of the situation. That coach must give the tournament director enough time to contact the other schools in that tournament. I don't know this for sure but I have been told that each school must have at least a 48 hour notice before the tournament or no one gets the additional weight. So I guess, one must not assume any pounds will be allowed at the tournament unless his coach tells him so.
  20. I don't know much about Bartlett but they must have won the biggest match of their schools history. Beating Houston I would say is big for anyone. SBA, please throw some water on Bartlett Dad and cool him down. I like his excitement but Please!
  21. Sommers, take it easy guy. You need to take a breathe, eat a dog bone and not fluff your coat of fur. It seems you are a little defensive too early in the year. Good luck to the Symrna Dogs this year.
  22. Hespinnedref cool the jets. Sommers was just offering some love for the "Dog Pound". Ruff Ruff! I think that all these tournaments are pretty good but none tougher than McCallie. Remember 1 team doesn't make your tournament the best. It takes more than that. Now on the other hand I haven't heard anything about the toughest dual meet tournament. This one goes to Cleveland hands down. We have such a strong tournament and teams coming from all parts of the state. Just think, we do have DI and DII teams competing. If I recall a couple of years ago McCallie came to this tournament and was handed a quick exit. Although I did hear most of their boys were taking SAT's that morning and were not there. Anyway, Cleveland Duals get my vote for strongest Dual Meet Tournament.
  23. Sanchez, did you mean crud or crunk? Maybe that is the problem.
