  1. We had penalty in our game for "tackling too hard" - exact words. Flag was thrown by female ref - (may/may not be significant) but, I was not aware of that being a penalty
  2. "the latest issue"??? I don't know what you mean? But, I do believe you just confirmed previous issues. Again, just a word of warning to any and all opponents of HCHS. Seasons have ended in the past only to discover something fishy in the water
  3. Who said "MTCS" ? I have known of multiple issues that seem to always involve Houston County clock keeper, score keeper, official book, etc , dating back to the 80's. I don't think it's a coincidence! So, congrats to Lady Irish. They didn't do anything to earn that rep -but, it is what it is! I'm just offering a warning/word to your opponent. Check out everything!
  4. What about open zoning? How is that different? Everyone has a choice. No one forces parents to send their student to a certain school.....not even zoning rules (cough, cough) So, pot, meet kettle!!!
  5. Don't let Houston County use their personal clock keeper. Just saying! #lessonlearned
  6. The boy from MTCS has led the league in scoring 2 yrs in a row. As in, scored the most points in the district as a Jr. and as a Sr. - And had 2 games cancelled in that snow that didn't get made up. One was a district game. How does a player like that get passed on - oh, I know - I answered my own question - MTCS
  7. I witnessed 2 public schools playing basketball last night and listened to crude obsenities in the form of cheers being yelled from the students - that's one reason people choose something different. The multiplier has nothing to do with recruiting. That makes me laugh! The multiplier was put in place to "level the playing field" or to punish schools that are private. I know that 10 of the 14 girls on the MTCS jr high team have been there since K or 1st grade, so whoever their recruiter is - is doing a miraculous job! Most people don't send their kids to christian schools for the Lord's sake - they make that choice for their kids' sake
  8. You do know that MTCS is a "christian" school? - right? There are many reasons for parents to send their children to a christian school besides good sports. Some parents believe so strongly in those principles that they are willing to travel long distancs to have their children be a part of that environment. I know from experience that being at a christian school is very hard. NOTHING is paid for by the state, county or city. Everything they have - uniforms, socks, shoes, basketballs, - anything at all- they have to pay for themselves or raise the money to pay for it. Most christian schools are very small and end up playing against schools that are sometimes 3x's their size because of the multiplier. Small christian schools have a hard, difficult task that no one really appreciates. But, to the people at the school, the task is worth it because of their convictions. So, hurl all darts you want at them, but they will withstand -it's been going on for years!
  9. Fyi to south pitt: Keep the gville flag "girls" off the field. Refs need to know: first time on the field is a sideline warning and after that it's a penalty. Pretty bush to send them out on the field during game anyway - especially to the opponents sideline.
  10. We kind of invented the "blackout." As a matter of fact, it was at a homecoming on Halloween night in 1980 against the #2 team in Class A. Guess who the visiting team was? The Pirates won 36-6. You invented "black out"?? is that like Al Gore invented the internet?
  11. Is it not a little odd for grown men to "heckle" 15, 16 and 17 year old boys? Seriously! That's what I was thinking - Why would gville complain about visitor seats @ MTCS when they didn't even use them. All the "hecklers" (probably wanna be players) stand around and put down HS kids. There is something seriously wrong with people who think like that. Sounds like the gville / SPitt game is gonna have a lot of hot air.
  12. MTCS has been the underdog in every single game all season, even when they shut out their opponent. So.....
  13. the fireworks?!? Per TSSAA handbook - no explosives @ high school football games. They will be confiscated!
  14. Where did this come from? Did you just make this up? That is so wrong. The previous quotes came directly from this thread. The MTCS people wouldn't be talking smack like that. But, I guess free press allows you to make up anything you want. Have fun with that!
  15. I agree with all you post as far as the problems with the Z-plan. And, no one was more surprised to get a bye in the 1st round than MTCS. Of course, deserving a bye is simply a matter of opinion, but qualifying for a bye according to the Z-plan is more closely what happened - and, the bye for MTCS is evidence that there are some underlying problems with the plan. That said, it is good to know that MTCS is undefeated against 1A teams this year. They played the three other 1A teams in their district. The rest of the teams on their schedule were 2A and 3A. They shut out one pretty bad 2A team, and the rest of the teams are all in the play-offs in 2A and 3A. Playing up in out of conference has been considered a way to make teams better. The Z-plan has really put 1A teams in this dilemma. What do they do? 1)Play a tough schedule, end w/ an unappealing record, but be a tougher team -or- 2)travel the state playing cupcakes, ending with a mediocre record and be a mediocre team. One question I ask is - Do we want really good teams in the play-offs or do we want teams who have protected their records in order to appear to be good teams? I don't think the Z-plan is an improvement.
