  1. I hate to change the subject a little but I heard that Tellico scrimmaged Copper Basin. Just Curious to see how Tellico did vs. a 2nd round playoff team from last season.
  2. I know Chat Central was there and their defense stole the show.
  3. A lot of us in the Valley are getting anxious for spring ball, but you are probably stating the obvious about your Pirates. You have been the bully for a couple of seasons now and I do not see any new contenders for the title this year.
  4. I do not see a clear front runner in this tournament. Any of the top four teams have a chance. I have seen several of the schools play this year and any of the top four (Signal, SP, MC and LV) can beat each other on any given night. I do know that Finnell from SP is on fire and he should have SP in the finals. Beyond that it is a crap shoot...
  5. Thanks for the heads up on the forfeits! I found them on tssaa's region standings page. When I give Copper Basin credit for a win against 1A Brainderd with a (0-0) record a (5-4) Copper Basin that finished 27th out of 24 now is 18th and 18 on down slides down a spot, sliding a (3-7) Greenback team out of the post-season. This also changes the seedings and pairings for Pod 1. Now I get Pod 1 5) Sunbright (D4) (5-5) 4) Copper Basin (D5) (6-4) BYE - 1) Knox Grace (D3) (9-1) 6) Whitwell (D6) (4-6) 3) Harriman (D3) (6-4) BYE - 2) Lookout Valley (D6) (7-3) Seems fair to me - how about you? That would have been nice. I think you are on to something!
  6. Aren't they trying to qualify for the 1A post-season? a 4-2 record against 1A competition sounds pretty good. I can't see me find Copper Basin's 6th win? I have them at 5-4? And if every team in 1A-6 played a tough non-district schedule compared to another district that did not how is it not fair? Who do you have in instead of Whitwell from my list of 32? Copper Basin probably would be higher if I could find their sixth win? I believe that Copper Basin's 6th win was a forfeit from the closing of David Brainerd. As far as other schools, I'm not sure. I guess it would be Moore county or Whitwell. No matter how you look at it, this new system that the TSSAA is running is too confusing. I would love to see a new system in place but I do not hink it will happen until the 2011 season.
  7. I never claimed to be the brightest ray of sunshine, but Signal runs a wing-t set. They do not need to pass a lot in order to move the ball effectively. They have three quality running backs that have improved since the beat down by SP. However, Cascade wins this game because signal is too young of a team to know how to win the big one.
  8. I believe a healthy #21 will be the deciding factor in this game. He will run hard on offense and blitz even harder on defense. MC 14 - BB 7 in the best playoff game this week.
  9. Since some people are venting, here's my 2 cents... Most teams that were close were left out for a reason. Take Whitwell for example. They were 4-2 versus 1A teams this year and 0-4 versus 2A and 3A schools. Unfortunately they did not win a district game all season and two of the teams they beat are still alive in the playoffs (Copper Basin and Sunbright). They also lost a critical game to CCS which is a first year program. Even though Whitwell makes it on your formula, they did not deserve to be in the playoffs. If they did then every team from 1A-6 would have been the playoffs. Where is the justice in that?
  10. How does a team become eligible to play in a bowl? 5-5 record as a minimum, but you can get in the playoffs with a 1-9 record. Thanks. Whitwell would love to play again but they won 4, losing to 5 playoff teams in te process...
  11. I agree and here's why: Copper Basin lost to Whitwell Sunbright lost to Whitwell Whitwell decides to fill its schedule when David Brainerd closed - Copper Basin did not Copper Basin gets a forefeit win, Whitwell loses to CCS (a 3A school) Whitwell gets left out because they played a game when they could have taken a forefeit. If they did not play CCS, Whitwell had the tie breaker over both teams... Copper Basin had six wins, including the forfeit, so Whitwell's five would not have helped. But it would have gotten them over Sunbright and also Cornersville to the #23 overall seed. Sorry about getting Copper Basin's record wrong. The bracket says you are 5-5. I guess they screwed up that part of the bracket too.

  14. Also, why did the state begin to post the 1A bracket if it cannot be completed anyway? I hope no one gets eliminated from the bracket before the games on Friday.
  15. The only way to get this right is to go to a different system. I know we are stuck with the system in place now. The T$$AA needed to see these issues coming. This is my first year in Tennessee but in the other two states I have been in, the district champion and runner up make the playoffs. The T$$AA had good intentions with combining classes to reduce travel expenses, but this is nuts! We need to go to districts that have one classification. If this system continues, schools will begin to load their schedules with as many poor teams as possible in order to qualify for a wild card if they cannot compete in their assigned district.
