  1. This BA team was very good, but best ever? You may not want to forget the 72 Tennessee High and I believe the 86 Jefferson County team. This BA team may even be the 4th best BA team (88,95,& 96). I personally saw the 95 & 96 teams, and would venture to say no one in this state could have ever beat those teams. I rooted against them, but was amazed by the talent they possesed.
  2. What about the BA scrimmage then? If we are going to play that game.
  3. Can we stop the better than BA/MBA talk for this year. Maryville should focus on getting Ravenwood( the 3rd best team in Williamson Co.) kicked out of the IFL. Indy may have an argument, but all of us around here are use to seeing great football teams.
  4. Look back at the post. Please inform the others after you talk to him! It's not a knock on him or the program. We wouldn't want to play Allen, Tx if they called, but the IFL thing drives those of us that know nuts.
  5. It was a renewal year and schedules aren't set until may, but you already know this. I will leave you all alone to live in your world. 1st person accounts could ruin your perception. Maryville obviously has taking care of their business and know how to dominate. Good luck to you all at state, which is more than i can say for my Tigers!
  6. In the football office of BA last spring to talk scheduling for a kickoff classic that was to be played at Vanderbilt. Coaches said that it couldn't happen because team A and team B would never play us. I thought we could make it very lucrative for those teams, but i guess not. GQ was called on speaker phone, pretty much as a joke, and when asked he told the BA coach that "it would be more competitive for them(BA) to play an out of state team". Followed by "we couldn't give you a game". So the IFL has nothing to do with facts.
  7. That IFL junk is a great crutch to always hide behind. Play the game, and quit dodging. Ask GQ what he said when BA called on April 24, 2015 to schedule a game for this year.
  8. I have tremendous respect for Maryville since they have decided to scrimmage us, but ya'll may want to watch the game next Thursday in Cookeville. I, for some reason, paid to watch this game. BA and MBA would be way to much for either of these teams. Maryville/Oakland would not match up on either side of the line of scrimmage, and the athletic ability isn't even close. Quarles is a great coach, but he wouldn't be able to save them.
  9. I was more of an MBA fan then, but that BA team was the best I have seen in the 46 years I have followed TN high school football. With the big uproar now over financial aid, let's remember then you could only have 3 football players on financial aid actually play. They had the best coaches and unbelievable talent! That BA team had the most dominating defense this state has seen. The starting defense was loaded with college players. Here is their lineup and college they played at: DE Air Force DT MTSU NG nowhere DT Memphis DE Tennessee LB Nebraska LB Georgia Military ( Tito Lee. The best player on the team, but didn't qualify) CB Virginia Tech CB Tennessee SS Vanderbilt FS Tennessee Most of these guys played on offense too. An offense that had receivers that went to Ole Miss and Army, and a tackle that went to Texas.
  10. Congrats Maryville! I don't know what went on in the stands, but I know that football team is first class. I would love to be able to play you guys, but I can honestly say that you guys may have finished the season as the best in the state! Believe me, there will always be people who say you don't do it the right way, but those are probably the ones that lost to you. You worked hard and you deserve it!
  11. Great post. We have all been deprived of seeing everyone together and a great game. Maryville vs. Ensworth would be great! It would be a lot closer than the scrimmage at the beginning of the year. Of course you all know I think we would win, but my top 5 regardless of class would be: 1. Ensworth 2. Brentwood Academy 3. Maryville 4. MBA 5. Alcoa
  12. You mean the defense that gave up 34 to us in the first 18 min. We should never hear about fulton being the best in the state again. They are a very good team, but let's not get carried away.
  13. I watched Fulton play last night on the tssaa network. Let's not feed the trolls. It is a complete joke. i saw maybe one D1 guy (Hawkins). He is the speed guy and would have gotten fourth in the DII 100m. If you watch last weeks Ensworth-BA game you will see about 20 D1 guys on the field. I would encourage you to watch their game to see what they see though. The people they are playing are awful, so i understand how they can feel so dominant. I believe they are a very good team and would probably consistently be the 5th best team in DII.
  14. Out of the teams I've followed and seen, I would say the 1972 Tennessee High team, or the 1995 Brentwood Academy team. The Tennessee High team were national champions and BA was the most complete team I've ever seen. The BA team had the most dominating defense this state has seen. The starting defense was loaded with college players. Here is their lineup and college they played at: DE Air Force DT MTSU NG nowhere DT Memphis DE Tennessee LB Nebraska LB Georgia Military ( Tito Lee. 16. excuses! don't make it close, and you don't have to worry about the refs.
  17. We are equally an academic and athletic instituition.
  18. Looks like they should. What would you call "Open Zoning"?
  19. This is funny. Can we stop the talk now. There is no way they could keep up with the speed of Ensworth. They are a great football team, but it's a different level.

  21. Well I can say for a fact, since I am a full pay parent, that I pay for my children and public school kids to go to school. The fact of the matter is that all public school kids are on full financial aid, paid for by tax payers such as myself. Outside of lunch ( not barring reduced lunch) these kids don't have to pay anything. So if a parent wants to pay, full price or not, for their kid to have this education then who cares how much they pay. The truth is that they are still paying a lot more than public school parents.
  22. BGA beat them, and I would say that BGA is the 4th best team in Middle/East DII(Ensworth,BA,Baylor). So that makes them 5th in the Middle/East. I also believe that MUS would beat them. Which would make them 6th out of 12 teams. I would say that is middle of the pack. But nonetheless, Smyrna is a very good football team.
