Maryville beat Bearden tonight 6-5

Maryville beat Halls pretty good tonight, 11-5.

I am super jealous. Maryville has the most state football championships in Tennessee history, so that's pretty impressive for a band. Alcoa by 21.

And you wonder why everyone piles on Farragut when they lose.

I think its pretty obvious that Maryville is gonna come out pumped.... its Maryville and they know what they have to do. To say that Mcminn playing with emotion means nothing I think is wrong. Just think about the Alcoa game for the past 10 years before this year... Alcoa come out jumping around all rah rah, after about the first couple series all that adrenaline starts to slow down, and the big red machine just keeps rolling I think 101 hit the nail on the head earlier. This game will come down to the QB play. Its all about decision making and whoever does a better job of it friday night between Juhlin and Ables will put their team in a better position to win the game. That being said, I think Maryville is good enough for Phillip to struggle and still win. I do not think Ambles can play bad and Mcminn still win. Maybe it is a blowout, but I like many others, don't see this one getting near as bad as last time. Thanks Stars for refreshing my memory on the the old Central teams... I honestly had forgotten how much talent they had. Boy those were some fun games to watch. No doubt about it Region 3-4A was tough. One of the best games I have ever witnessed was the 2002 Maryville-Central game. There would have been another epic battle in the playoffs that year if they had made it to us (I still think that Central team was better than Cleveland that year). Those Central teams were GOOD, like someone said, I think they would have won state multiple times if it wasn't for Maryville.

Did someone just say that Maryville isn't a well-coached team?

that literally may be the worst joke of all time. i would be mad if 1. this was the playoffs. 2. maryville was actually better than Farragut. so im not worried at all. bring on the playoffs. Yes, bring them on. Can't wait for the playoffs. If I was a Farragut fan I wouldn't want to face Maryville again.

Farragut lost. Sorry. I'm laughing at this epic meltdown. Don't think I've ever seen one as bad on this board (WB '07 maybe).

Maryville - 23 West - 10 We are down. But our dips (down periods) aren't like other dips. We will be back shortly, I think next year. SO and JR classes coming up (they are FR and SO this year) are really strong.

I will say this. If, somehow, we win state this year, it will easily be the sweetest state win since 2000.

Maryville is not going to lose as many games as some of you are starting to think. Their QB is real nice, they will gel and GQ will have them on point. I think we'll lose to Farragut, Catholic, and maybe Bearden. But we will be absolutely loaded for the next couple of years.

Honestly it's hard stomach 2 straight losses after winning 74 in a row. And the first regular season loss since 2001. This sucks.

Y'all got a running game? Alcoa didn't attempt a pass. Yes. We have a very good offense with both the run and the pass. We are very well balanced. We ran for nearly 300 yards on Dobyns-Bennett and we had a similar good running game tonight against Oak Ridge. On top of that, our all-state QB Reese Browning is back and he throws extremely well. We scrimmaged Alcoa and held our own pretty good with them. D'Andre Purdy our tailback ran an 80+ yard TD against Alcoa in our scrimmage with them. Our weakest link in my opinion is pass defense. A really good thowing team might give us some trouble. Going ahead and calling a 45-24 Admiral victory. However, I shouldn't be posting right now. Too raw a game.

Maryville is going to drop a few this year. But I know the next few years we have some really, really strong classes coming in. Congrats Alcoa. This has been a long time coming.

Probably the worst defensive performance I've ever seen from a Rebel squad. We shouldn't have even been in the game.
