  1. Yep. Zulli will be missed alright. A lot of the seniors will be missed. Especially the offensive line. It had a lot of good kids that were seniors - Crane, Flowers and Wesh. They worked hard all year and continued to get better. It is a shame they all had to end their careers like that. When zulliger got hurt again on their second drive of game, it kind of hurt their offense for the night.... After the Powell game when his kidney was bruised, seems like he never really recovered... we had that game, if........ Clary said he missed the Career Total Offense record by about 100 yards..... Also need to mention they had a few great senior players on defense too. Jarnigan and Williams were great on line, Ingham was special. He came up with some big plays all year!!! He and Hull were three year starters as well. As for next year, they will be inexperienced at QB, but with Hall and Moore in backfield, they will do just fine. They will have some very experienced receivers in Wheeler and Gray - both started as sophomores I think. If Gray gets aggressive, colleges will be all over him! Coach Younger always gets the line going and there are a few younger guys there that will be the big leaders next year - Ramsey. AND Normand will be back! Maybe some college prospects in the bunch. I think they will play with Maryville and Farragut better next year, just because I expect both those programs to be down a bit. Powell will be down for awhile. OR will be back on very top soon. They are getting there. The coaches are bringing OR back to where we used to be. It's GREAT!! Anyone know if any of this years seniors are getting any serious looks?
  2. I hate to hear that the McMinn QB will not be playing. It is a hard lesson, but kids have to understand that there are repercussions to all their actions. Similar thing happened to OR two years ago when they played McMinn in round 1 of playoffs. However it was not due to an ejection - their sophomore QB (who is still the same kid playing QB now) was injured in the last game of the regular season and missed the McMinn game. His brother had to play in his place (who had not taken a snap in a game all year....) I'd prefer to see the two teams playing at full strength!
  3. Thanks for the info. Yes, I noticed the same trend about Siegel being the first to go west every week when there was a change. Still does not make sense. It really should be Oakland then Siegel to Quad 2 before Riverdale even... as Oakland and siegel are further East than Riverdale. On the Quad 1 side, OR seems to be the first to go to quad 2 when quad 1 fills up (which makes sense as they are the furthest west), but they do not follow same logic when Quad 2 fills up. and... now that I am thinking about it, Harden Valley should be the next to go to quad 2 from quad 1 instead of Farragut as they are further west than Farragut. If you use the logic of who is closer to interstate, then Farragut and Harden Valley should go to quad 2 before OR. Go figure??? They need to state a hard and fast rule other than setting trends as the weeks move along!
  4. For Quad 2, why wouldn't Oakland be in it instead of Blackman? Oakland is further east.....?????
  5. OR is playing at MTSU on Saturday, July 16 (over 30 Teams), then 3 day FCA team/7on7 camp at TTU next week. I know they are playing in some the following week too, but not sure.
  6. I saw west play 2 games last year and they improved a great deal from the beginning of year to the end. I thought they shut down Anderson county better than anyone ac Played all year. Seemed like they had a young team. I look for them to be in the mix of their very tough district with Farragut and maryville.
  7. Bradley Zulliger from Oak Ridge did a terrific job last year! He had almost 1,700 yards passing and 1,000 yards rushing. He is a great dual threat. He has started for OR now for two years. I hear he is getting some looks from schools already. If he has a good year in 2011, he should smash all the OR records.
  8. ORidgeKat: #10 did not run track. He's quick side to side, but not super fast straight ahead.
  9. I think Quad 1 will be as you state above and Quad 2 (unless they really split out DB and Maryville into different quads to be #1 seed in each) will look like this: Quad 2 1 Blackman 2 Bradley Central 3 Riverdale 4 Soddy D 5 Cookeville 6 Oak Ridge 7 Lincolin Cty 8 Franklin Cty
  10. Is there anyone out there that can explain how the playoff quadrants are determined. Only thing I can find is on TSSAA website in the football regulations section III D. It states: "Once the 24 teams have been selected in the Class 1A and 2A playoffs, the teams will be geographically grouped into four six-team quadrants. Once the 32 teams have been selected in the Class 3A, 4A, 5A, and 6A playoffs, the teams will be geographically grouped into four eight-team quadrants. This grouping will be done without regard to district/region alignments. Seeding for the quadrants will be based exclusively on how the teams are ranked in the standings for each classification. No priority is given to district/region champions or runners up." I can not find a thing that is written down about how the quadrants are determined (or grouped). Anyone else have info on this? Seems like this would be something that would be well defined!
  11. Wow. AC's offense is scary. OR did a great job keeping the game close so the young offense could get ahead. Path forward looks good for OR. However, heard OR had some injuries though including their QB. Heard he may have broken his jaw on 1st or 2nd play of game. Does anyone know anything about this?
  12. Hey scots.... I am not for or against anyone, just stating what I saw. I heard that OR struggled against CAK last week and wanted to see what Alcoa did against a similar opponent. From what I heard last week and saw yesterday, CAK/Alcoa will be good match. Yes coaches typically do hold back in scrimmages, but the Alcoa coaches seemed pretty upset with their players later in the scrimmage for letting down. There was definately a drop-off in their play. Maybe they felt they had proven their point or it was just too hot... don't know. Again.... just stating what I saw...
  13. One thing I noticed was that OR got better as the scrimmage went on. Alcos's #1s could not do anything after the 15 min "heat break". OR offense came alive, almost scored a couple times on some big passes (that were dropped). Alcoa's #1s seemed worn out. I noticed they had a lot of players going both ways. Could be their achilles heel! However, Alcoa looked unbeatable their first 2 drives.
  14. OK - the other OR vs. Maryville game postings were all messed up with comments back and forth between bladerunner and stars something. Let's stop all the trash talk and discuss the game. For all you that want to continue the trash talk, stay on the other post. I think it is great that these two teams are playing - what a great tradition it will be. I'm looking forward to the game and the great rivalry of the future. Good luck to both teams and I hope both come away from the game w/o any injuries. Maybe this game can truly take the place of the great rivalry game OR used to have with DB. Someone else asked a good question in the other post: When was the last time these two teams actually played a game and what is the series record?
  15. Any chance that Dowdy (QB that got hurt in car accident) can be back for this game?
