  1. I wouldn't say Ensworth is a one man team. Their defense is impressive, they have good receivers, and to say that Bowers doesn't hold a candle to Parker is pretty ignorant. He has done everything they have asked of him this season. His numbers aren't off the charts nor is his arm strength or size, but there is something to be said for his efficiency and intangibles. I'll take Ensworth in this one, only because they lost to Baylor earlier this year. Oh, and they have a kid named Corn Elder.
  2. A couple things while watching the game: -Corn Elder is very impressive -BA secondary very impressive -BA live stream commentators are very, very hard to listen to. Unprofessional(obviously) and so biased that I had to mute it so as to even generate my own opinion of the matchup. EDIT: also horribly racist and ignorant. I am embarrassed for Brentwood Academy. Truly embarrassing.
  3. May be old news, but just got word that the game will be aired on CSS on friday. EDIT: Its been a long day. Just had to read the first post more carefully.
  4. Corn Elder. Numbers are as impressive as any on both sides of the ball and if you've seen him play then you have seen how he takes over a game on offense and defense.
  5. Agreed on the personal fouls, but the refs might have put on their red glasses today. Two things from the game so far: 1.Ensworth needs to learn to tackle 2. The refs need to learn to call a decent game
  6. Haven't seen much of Baylor and have only seen a little of Ensworth. If Ensworth's defense plays like it has been and Elder has a typical game, I'd take Ensworth. How is Baylor's offense this year? Obviously the loss of Huesman is huge, but are they a mainly a running or passing attack this year? If it's anything like the state championship last year, it will be well worth the price of admission. I'll take Ensworth in a nail biter, 28-24.
  7. That was Rumble with the W. Campbell predictions, not Hdcastle. As for the Matthews move, I'm not sure what position he got. Can anyone clarify if it was in fact the Offensive Coordinator job or just the OL coach? Either way, he left Ensworth not because of being unhappy, but because he lives right next to BA and it was a good opportunity for his kids to go there. He enjoyed his time at Ensworth, and I can say that for a fact.
  8. Ditto on the "Gentleman, Scholar, Athlete" for Caldwell. Great student, great kid. And of course, great football player.
  9. Didn't realize we were playing those cards RRR. We can play this game all day, back and forth, back and forth. What ever happened to the big red's highway sling-shot heroes?
  10. Ensworth pulls it out. Personally looking back on the last 3 years, this is the one year I'd least expect them to win state. But they did it and they deserve credit. There will always be people looking back at the BA game saying that the catch wasn't inbounds, and always people saying that the game winner in the championship game was an interception or out of bounds. Either way you slice it, give credit where credit is due. Right now, Ensworth deserves credit. Great season to both teams. Huesman had a fantastic season, and deserved every bit of the Mr. Football voting. My best of luck to him and his future, and my thanks to him for exciting football this year and last year. Again though, congrats to Ensworth on getting the first state championship, and my best of luck to both Baylor and EHS in the future.
  11. I have to go with Ensworth on this one. I don't think any team can shut down Elder right now. If they do, Bowers seems to have plenty of confidence in Parker throwing the ball. (and rightfully so) This will be a good one, but Ensworth comes out on top. EHS-35 BA-27
  12. First off, congrats to both teams on good seasons. My take on this game: Elder is a darn good athlete. I don't think that's debatable. No team has been able to really shut him down. VandyHoosiers, I'm not really sure what your beef is with Coach Rod. It really isn't necessary to pin this loss on him. I was impressed by Ensworth. I think this is the most balanced team we have ever seen from them in their short time playing varsity football. They will never have another Darkwa or another Jefferson, but they have found a way to spread the field and open holes for Elder. Even without Richardson. I tip my hat to Ricky Bowers and coach Wade. Excellent job. I had my money on MBA before this one started. But this could be Ensworth's year. Maybe starting out as an "underdog" and running the table is more suited for them. We all know Ricky is a good coach, but he does an especially good job of making the best out of what he has, and I think so far that has been proven this year. He came into the year without a Darkwa or a Jefferson, and look where his team is now. I cannot wait to see the next Ensworth game. Best of luck to all teams, hopefully nobody on any team gets hurt. This is a good year of Tennessee high school football.
  13. "What's up" is that Ensworth just beat one of the best teams in the state without Richardson. That's whats up.
