  1. I wouldn't say Ensworth is a one man team. Their defense is impressive, they have good receivers, and to say that Bowers doesn't hold a candle to Parker is pretty ignorant. He has done everything they have asked of him this season. His numbers aren't off the charts nor is his arm strength or size, but there is something to be said for his efficiency and intangibles. I'll take Ensworth in this one, only because they lost to Baylor earlier this year. Oh, and they have a kid named Corn Elder.
  2. A couple things while watching the game: -Corn Elder is very impressive -BA secondary very impressive -BA live stream commentators are very, very hard to listen to. Unprofessional(obviously) and so biased that I had to mute it so as to even generate my own opinion of the matchup. EDIT: also horribly racist and ignorant. I am embarrassed for Brentwood Academy. Truly embarrassing.
  3. May be old news, but just got word that the game will be aired on CSS on friday. EDIT: Its been a long day. Just had to read the first post more carefully.
  4. Corn Elder. Numbers are as impressive as any on both sides of the ball and if you've seen him play then you have seen how he takes over a game on offense and defense.
  5. Agreed on the personal fouls, but the refs might have put on their red glasses today. Two things from the game so far: 1.Ensworth needs to learn to tackle 2. The refs need to learn to call a decent game
  6. Haven't seen much of Baylor and have only seen a little of Ensworth. If Ensworth's defense plays like it has been and Elder has a typical game, I'd take Ensworth. How is Baylor's offense this year? Obviously the loss of Huesman is huge, but are they a mainly a running or passing attack this year? If it's anything like the state championship last year, it will be well worth the price of admission. I'll take Ensworth in a nail biter, 28-24.
  7. That was Rumble with the W. Campbell predictions, not Hdcastle. As for the Matthews move, I'm not sure what position he got. Can anyone clarify if it was in fact the Offensive Coordinator job or just the OL coach? Either way, he left Ensworth not because of being unhappy, but because he lives right next to BA and it was a good opportunity for his kids to go there. He enjoyed his time at Ensworth, and I can say that for a fact.
  8. Ditto on the "Gentleman, Scholar, Athlete" for Caldwell. Great student, great kid. And of course, great football player.
  9. Didn't realize we were playing those cards RRR. We can play this game all day, back and forth, back and forth. What ever happened to the big red's highway sling-shot heroes?
  10. Ensworth pulls it out. Personally looking back on the last 3 years, this is the one year I'd least expect them to win state. But they did it and they deserve credit. There will always be people looking back at the BA game saying that the catch wasn't inbounds, and always people saying that the game winner in the championship game was an interception or out of bounds. Either way you slice it, give credit where credit is due. Right now, Ensworth deserves credit. Great season to both teams. Huesman had a fantastic season, and deserved every bit of the Mr. Football voting. My best of luck to him and his future, and my thanks to him for exciting football this year and last year. Again though, congrats to Ensworth on getting the first state championship, and my best of luck to both Baylor and EHS in the future.
  11. I have to go with Ensworth on this one. I don't think any team can shut down Elder right now. If they do, Bowers seems to have plenty of confidence in Parker throwing the ball. (and rightfully so) This will be a good one, but Ensworth comes out on top. EHS-35 BA-27
  12. First off, congrats to both teams on good seasons. My take on this game: Elder is a darn good athlete. I don't think that's debatable. No team has been able to really shut him down. VandyHoosiers, I'm not really sure what your beef is with Coach Rod. It really isn't necessary to pin this loss on him. I was impressed by Ensworth. I think this is the most balanced team we have ever seen from them in their short time playing varsity football. They will never have another Darkwa or another Jefferson, but they have found a way to spread the field and open holes for Elder. Even without Richardson. I tip my hat to Ricky Bowers and coach Wade. Excellent job. I had my money on MBA before this one started. But this could be Ensworth's year. Maybe starting out as an "underdog" and running the table is more suited for them. We all know Ricky is a good coach, but he does an especially good job of making the best out of what he has, and I think so far that has been proven this year. He came into the year without a Darkwa or a Jefferson, and look where his team is now. I cannot wait to see the next Ensworth game. Best of luck to all teams, hopefully nobody on any team gets hurt. This is a good year of Tennessee high school football.
  13. "What's up" is that Ensworth just beat one of the best teams in the state without Richardson. That's whats up.
  14. This is horribly inaccurate
  15. Shocking News. Dropped out of EHS this morning is the word on the street. Will be headed to Pearl Cohn. The move was necessary for him to get his GPA up in order to play college ball. Proves that Ensworth isn't all about football, as they let a kid go who could not keep up with the academics but happened to be an Army All-American player. Sad to see him leave DII, but wish him the best of luck.
  16. This will certainly be worth the price of admission. I think it boils down to who controls the line of scrimmage. if Ensworth can pressure Huesman then the quick defensive backfield will be able to make plays. On the offensive side for EHS, they will need to try some new things against a solid Baylor defense. I wish I could make this one. Baylor-24 EHS- 14
  17. This is, without a doubt, the dumbest post I have read on here. Ever. If you are close-minded enough to judge a school or a coach by some kids wearing earrings then you don't deserve to donate your $1,000. Get your grand in rolls of quarters, put em in a bag, and beat yourself upside the head with it.
  18. We all knew Orleans as a great back and class act, but I came across some links that I found interesting as well as affirming of our previous knowledge of OOD. http://www.nola.com/tulane/index.ssf/2010/09/orleans_darkwa_quietly_off_to.html http://www.abc26.com/videobeta/?watchId=04a62416-27ef-4b55-a7bd-bbee4322a31d http://greenwaveblog.com/2010/08/14/tulane-rb-orleans-darkwa/
  19. EDIT: That post may sound snobby. For that I apologize, I typed it out quickly from my Blackberry while driving my Porsche to Belle Meade Country Club. Actually, it might have been because I have no real world experience, being a graduate of EHS, and I have no clue how to communicate outside the EHS bubble.
  20. This is correct. To make the argument that EHS has not had any pro athletes is stupid. They have graduated 3 classes. As far as college recruits go, I'd like to add a few to your list. Daniel Mcfadden: Basketball, Birmingham-Southern Myers Beaird: Football, Wesleyan University Jacob Carter: Football, University of Tennessee Corey Sacks: Football, Texas Christian University Michael Dunn: Football, Texas Christian University Teddy Reeve: Football, Centre College Cody Tollison: Baseball, MTSU Garrett Carmichael: Track, Cross Country, University of Colorado Genny Mayden: Track, University of Colorado Brandi Byner: Lacrosse, Vanderbilt University Jackson Nuismer: Football, Ole Miss Chela Green: Track, Georgetown University Watson Sweat: Wrestling, Lehigh Sophie Bransford: Soccer, Southern Methodist University Tavarres Jefferson: Basketball, Football, MTSU Miles Asafo-Adjei: Basketball, Cornell Gary Pope: Basketball, Elon KP McDermott: Football, UCLA Emily Perkins: Soccer, Ole Miss Eliza Morgan: Lacrosse, American University Alex Rudd: Tennis, Samford University John Shulz: Tennis, Wooster College Marie Carpenter: Basketball, Eastern Kentucky University Molly Vaughn: Soccer, ETSU Anna Bowers: Basketball, Lipscomb University Daley Hill: Baseball, Belmont University These are a few off the top of my head. That is from only 3 graduating classes. And now on to the academics debate... The Ensworth School Class of 2010 (96 kids) earned 9.4 Million Dollars in scholarship this year. Acceptances and enrollment include: -Yale -Harvard -MIT -Princeton -GWU -Georgetown -Boston College -University of Southern California -Cornell -Columbia -Brown -Vanderbilt -New York University -Pomona College -Colgate -Tulane -Virginia -Penn -Stanford -U Chicago -Duke -Dartmouth -Northwestern -Emory -Johns Hopkins That's just a few. Find a student in the Rutherford County system that can spell all of those schools and I'll be surprised.
  21. You are embarrassing. I don't know if this is Bradley, Joy, Boehm, or Caplan, but anyone associated with EHSRumble doesn't know their stuff, and that's why you lose credibility on these boards. You haven't stated the facts. You don't know the facts. You thought Carter played corner. You thought Sacks was out all year. He wasn't. I don't dislike Wirth, in fact, I don't know him. But I did watch him play against Hillsboro yesterday in a scrimmage, and I can confidently say that he is not a good quarterback. He never throws to the open receiver. Instead, he generally chooses to test his 5+ forty speed against a defense with 4.5-4.6 guys running around. Strong arm? Absolutely. Ingle Martin (As you say he is)? Never in his lifetime. Get over yourself and whatever love crush you have on Wirth and the sub-par tigers this year.
  22. My apologies for continuing to split hairs rollredroll, but I couldn't help but reply to this post. Carter and Sacks certainly got more snaps then Watson. Batey got the same amount. Carter played safety with Batey and Sacks at corner. The starters on defense leaving are Sacks, Carter, Beaird, Grigsby, Cooper, McFadden, Settles and Smith (started off/on) On offense the team will play without starters in Darkwa, Reuther, Reeve, Cooper, McFadden, Tollison, Sacks, Carter, Settles (played most of season before injury) In addition, Beaird and Grigsby took alot of snaps at fullback. So get YOUR facts straight before posting, please. EDIT: And Wirth Campbell has yet to prove himself. Sure, he is strong, and fairly athletic, but he has a career completion percentage of 36. That's not exactly superhero statistics for the man you hype up to be the next Barry Brunetti.
  23. @Rumble Wirth Campbell is 6'4", yes. But he is certainly not as proven as you describe him to be. He is a strong kid and a hard worker, but has no game experience at the varsity level. He will have one heck of an offensive line, sure, but it's too quick to say he will be the best. As for my pick, I'd take rising Junior Aaron Simonis from MBA over anyone right now. Dual threat, and appears to be an excellent competitor. Can't wait to see how this year plays out.
