  1. Unless Gordonsville has enlarged their seating capacity you might want to get there at four oclock on Thursday if you want a seat. Last time I caught a game up there the jacket fans had to bring their own chairs cause there was only one tiny section of bleachers. Of course that was a few years back. The Jackets and Gordonsville is always hard to predict. When you think the Jackets should just blow them away the Tigers keep it close. I predict 28 - 24 Jackets in a barn burner that goes down to the last play. At least that wold be fun to watch.
  2. Well all the old cliches (sp?) are out there but for WC it has held true the first two weeks. WIN THE TURN OVER BATTLE WIN THE GAME. Beech is starting to click on offense and the D looked good on paper but I thought they would kill WC last year and it was a close game. With the game being at Beech this year you have to give them the advantage but WC is playing bend but don't break football on D and doing just enough to win. Should be fun to see how the young men from Gladeville handle their first road Trip. Also the WC coaches name is Brad Dedman he Coached for a while I Lavergne I think back about 6 or 8 years ago.
  3. Thanks for the info, I am looking forward to the game. Your new D vs the Wildcats new O this could be another close one like last week for the cats. Come on over to the Glade Friday Night and hopefully we can return the hospitality you folks showed us last year, although I hope the result of the game is different from last year. There is plenty of parking but I would get here early b/c we do boast a pretty good student section. Cracker Barrell, O'Charley's, Ponderosa, and a slew of fast food places are available in Lebanon for dinner and its not far from the school. Thanks again for the info.
  4. Hey Rhea Co. can you turn that information machine you got back on and give us po' middle tennesseans some infor on the eagles. YOu guys whooped up on us pretty good last year and I have looked at some of the posts on the other thread and by the looks of some of those posts you guys couldn't whip your way out of a wet paper bag with a hole in the bottom. Of course I do not believe that at all and am sure it is not the real story. Any insight you have for us fans would be greatly appreciated. You have got the gist of the Wildcat players down and as far as I saw on Friday the only thing I would add is that special teams are a big plus for the wildcats this year. We had a couple of good punt returns and one real good kick off return. The big play did bite us on D however. I did read correctly that you guys have one game under your belts as well and were not as fortunate as the Wildcats. I know your boys will be hungry to get their first win. Thanks in advance for the info.
  5. Have a safe trip jackets and good luck to you. Bring everyone back safe so you can continue your dominance where it counts in the district and TSSAA playoffs.
  6. Neither team looked great in their opener. The Wildcats did scrape out a win while Rhea County lost by a big margin. The winner of this game will be the team that can win the turnover battle as usual. I would give the Wildcats the slight advantage since it is a home game and in a different time zone. The Rhea County boys will be starting at 8:00 eastern instead of their usual 7:00pm kickoff. Also, the extra time on the bus during such a long trip could play a factor as well. I know both teams have struddled in the off season and neither is at what you would call peak form but I give WC the edge 24-21 final.
  7. Lost old Dad you are wise, and have obviously seen Lebanon play a few times. The wildcats seem a little sluggish on the offensive side of the ball learning another new offensive scheme this year. The D looks far and away to be the strong point of the team but I do not feel they will be as talented as in years past. They have some fine young players and are moving in the right direction. If this one comes down to kickers the WC kicker is pretty dang good. He hit some long range bombs last year and as I hear tell he has gotten stronger over the summer. The only major concern for the Cats will be how long the parents will give the new coaches to turn it around. Not one of the head coaches in the history of the school (all 10 years...) have had a winning season in their first year. Good luck to Coach Dedman and the boys this year. You may not win'em all but at least let the other guy know he was in a fight.
  8. You know a good rule of thumb is if you don't have anything nice to say keep you mouth shut. Have you ever coached a sport? You seem to hate on every Head Coach WC ever had. Either support who you got or get a new team.
  9. How did the scrimmage go on Saturday? Everything in 9-AAA has been pretty quiet this off season. Did the guys show improvement over last season?
  10. As of Friday evening May the 7th No Principal has been named at Lebanon High School. THis being the case Bobby Brown is still the head coach for next year. If the Director of schools names Coach Brown the Principal then he will have to hire a new Head Football coach if he is not named Principal and remains an assistant principal then he can continue to be the head coach just like he did last year. Hope this helps clear up some confusion. Good Luck to all the teams having spring practice this week in the Wilson County area and I hope everyone comes through injury free.
  11. Where did you hear that from? I saw the list of all coaches that applied and were considered, and Coach Elrod was not on that list. I also did not know he was not going back to Hunters Lane. My sources are letting me down and I do not believe that HC offer.........but if it was true; I know several parentsand players that would have liked that!! Dedman will do a fine job! go glade kitties I'm sure Dedman will do a great job, the information I heard was that Elrod was offered the job, not that he applied for it so take it for what its worth. In all seriousness I doubt Elrod will return to WC but the fact remains that with him the kitties as you call them were more successful than they have been in his absence! Just look at the records. If Dedman is going to be successful he is going to have to get his players on board with the program and I hear a lot of kids that quit or did not play last year have chosen to return under his leadership. I wish the cats the best next season.
  12. I posted this on the WC thread too! Will Dedman ask Elrod to come back to coach at Wilson Central? I heard that Elrod was offerd the HC position at Wilson Central but turned it down?
  13. The question I have is will Coach Dedman bring back the great and powerful Oz aka Wes Elrod. I hear he is available since he no longer coaches at Hunters Lane? I also heard that he (Elrod) was offered the head job at WCHS but turned it down?
  14. Rumor is they offered the position to Dedman today and he accepted! No official announcement has been made yet but should happen this afternoon or tomorrow morning.
  15. I hope your right then the TSSAA can investigate Mt. Juliet for recruiting....(sarcasm intended) lol careful you know thats excatly what people will say... Until wilson county schools makes a commitment to allowing all schools in the district to have sports 4th block and starts to pay a fair wage to its coaches this county will not get big name coaches to leave places that will pay more. I do not know how MJ landed coach Perry when there are other places that would pay more for his abilities. I am glad that we have good coaches in this county in many sports, I just wish we would do more to support our players and coaches.....
  16. Scuttlebut around the glade is that the top two candidates have turned down the job. The coach from Rutherford apparently turned down the offer made yesterday, and the leading candidate turned it down last Friday. Intersted to see what will happen next!!!!! Maybe they will just cancel football at WC and turn the stadium into a soccer venue!
  17. Big question now is who's gonna grab the reigns and take over for Creasy. Needs to be done quickly, so the players know who the boss is. And so offseason conditioning can begin. Is this a done deal has he resigned? I have not heard that he has only the rumor that he will? I know some people have talked about him applying for other Jobs but why leave two state championships for what is open on the highschool level?
  18. The wild wild west wins round one....Now TC needs to do the same tomorrow. Remember to wrap up warm football fans gonna be a cold one on the plateau tomorrow. And yes I know two games were played yesterday but they don't really count since they were private schools who recruit........since none of the private schools who play in the public league recruit the real games are today and tomorrow. Go Jackets
  19. Interviews started yesterday. Not heard a time line on naming a new coach but they want whoever it is to start the first of January. Have heard the DC might be the leading candidate going into interviews. Of course that is only hearsay. Whoever gets the job has a mountain of work to do to right the attitudes of the parents and players at WC. The school has some talent comming back but the last three freshmen teams have 5 wins over three years. This is not a powerhouse school but if the parents and players get behind the program it could grow and become something successful but if the parents jump on the blame train again and have parent meeting with the principal then WC will only ever be low to mid tier team in region 9AAA. IMHO. WIth that and a Buck you can buy yourself a soda.
  20. Finally the T$$AA got one right. The best two teams in a classification are finally getting to play for a Championship. It also comes down to a Public vs Private battle on the field. It just doesn't get any better than this! Good luck to both teams on Saturday. Go Jackets
  21. Well, It is good to see that some things never change...the trash talk continues west vs middle vs east my team is better than your team... ahhh football on the Friday after Thanksgiving. It means that two worthy opponents will face off for the opportunity to play in the State Championship game. Alas, I will not be able to make the short trip from West Wilson County to the booming Metropolis that is Hartsville to cheer on my adopted team so I will listen to "Cheese" call the game on WTNK. I would like to let our friends from the West know if the drive is to much for you, Lebanon offers a plethora of fine eating drinking and sleeping establishments. You might also want to arrive at the Game a couple hours early as parking is difficult to come by close to the stadium. Of Course you may want to park as far away as possible so you can make a fast exit after the game. Go Jackets!!!!
  22. Well, Tomorrow night will finally bring about the end of the FCS vs TC trashtalking about football for another season but take heart both teams will meet again next year and we can always continue the debate: "is the sweatervest ever a good fashion choice?" Good luck to both teams may each player honor themselves, their families and the lord by playing with good sportsmanship and integrity. Win or lose may they face the future with their heads held high and with a humble heart.
  23. but I do know we have several that can "MAN UP" to any TC player. We won't pull a "Spikes Moment" on anyone but we will HIT'EM hard come Friday night. We have plenty of Maet & Tatters on our D............ Did FCS get a new helmet for the young man who got his knocked off in the first game? That could have been why the other players did not get many touches cause they say what happend to him and were skeered! I have no doubt of the ability with which both teams can play, I question the execution on the part of the boys from wilson county. Once you have been man handled by an opponent, (and yes they were man handled from the first play) the doubt that creeps in when you face that opponent again can propel you to victory or leave you crying for your mama!! So the real question is can the young men in green and gold handle the mental whooping laid on them after the first game or will they fold like a "sweater vest" on the shelf at Dillards?
  24. I have no words to express the humor I feel as I read this! Go Jackets!
  25. I highly doubt Ford will play this week. Don't know of any other injuries to speak of. I see where you stay on the 5A/6A boards for the most part. What team to you follow? Lebanon, and WC used to teach at TCHS a few years back. And married an Alumni so kinda got adopted into the Jacket family.
