  1. I heard that the Union City fans are chartering a bus (or two) to the game.
  2. Scouting report for you Wayne Countians. UC will run 40 different offensive plays with 3/4 of them being passes. The O-line's so uncoordinated they can't tie their own shoestrings. The fullback's a wet paper sack with slot's on each side nicknamed "turtle" and "tortoise." The QB's got an IQ in the single digits and has receivers that are scared to cross the line of scrimmage. Oh, an about the defense. You talking about a pacifist mentality. Their motto is "Please don't run my way!" These guys won't touch a weight during the offseason, much less during the season. They definately won't practice more than two hours a day. Heck, we've got a "fan" that says Milan would "beat our brains out!" Wayne County's going to have a walk in the park. Just trying out some satire. I look forward to travelling to Waynesboro to play you guys. It's a fun time of the season.
  3. You've got to be kidding. UC vs. Milan or UC vs. Alcoa would be a game to watch.
  4. The colder it gets, the more Union City rocks! Temperature does make a difference. Buckle up, Wayne County. These Golden Tornadoes are becoming more intense.
  5. Heat and humidity were a factor in the first game because nine of the UC boys were playing offense, defense, and most of the special teams. They looked gassed by halftime. The 28-7 lead was no fluke. The fluke was all of Huntingdon's unanswered points. It's cooler now, so endurance won't be as big an issue. Also, UC is substituting a little more now than they were at the beginning of the season. Buckle up, boys.
  6. Since the tragic, accidental death of Peter Wilkes, this Union City team has seemed to have started a new chapter in their season. They have flat put the hammer down against their opponents, more so than before Peter's death. There are a few other factors, such as healing from injuries and modifying their daily practices somewhat, that has improved their play. I really think they're going to take Huntingdon to the wood shed.
  7. It's possible. I could see Holder getting 175 plus yards in the fourth quarter if Union City is up by a considerable margin and has started significant substitution.
  8. Unlike the first meeting, Huntingdon will be playing without their 12th player (Mr. Heat) and 13th player (Mr. Humidity). Union City will be playing with their 12th player (Mr. Homefield) and 13th player (Mr. Healthy). Union City wins by 14.
  9. I saw McKenzie beat us in the jamboree at the beginning of the season and saw Huntingdon beat us in the first half of the season. McKenzie has the defense to stop the two Huntingdon running backs. McKenzie wins by 13 (There's got to be a missed PAT in there somewhere with the wet weather.). I have to hold my nose and root for McKenzie anyway because their win would give us home field advantage in the playoffs.
  10. I read a post that said if Union City wins out and Huntingdon loses to McKenzie, Union City will be the home team in the playoffs when/if we play Huntingdon. Not only, "Go Tornadoes!", but "Go Rebels!"
  11. Jorge Guerri, junior kicker, of the Union City Golden Tornadoes is 40-41 on PAT's (Had one blocked against TCA on a wet field). 2-2 on field goals. He's kicked 50 plus yard field goals in practice. Jorge is an exchange student from Spain. He'd never kicked a football until two weeks before the season started.
  12. Services will be 1 pm. at Second Baptist Church in Union City. Friends may call at the church from 4 to 8 pm. Tuesday. Peter was an organ donor. He has enabled several people to have an extension in life.
  13. With the Peter Wilkes tragedy occurring Friday, I didn't know what to expect from the Union City team when they faced Humboldt. After that impressive performance, I think the Golden Tornadoes are on a mission. Buckle up, Halls.
  14. Peter graduated from Union City High School this year. He was the UCHS kicker, cornerback, and wide receiver last season. He is a great young man.
  15. UC will never pass very much under this coaching staff. One of the Coach's favorite sayings is, "Three things can happen when you pass and two of them are bad." UC's two losses this year have everything to do with the two "H's". "Heat" in the first loss and "health" in the second loss. Time has taken care of fixing both of the problems. Only concern now should be how bad they bang themselves up in practice each week.
  16. I agree with Atlas. Let's keep the injury status to ourselves.
  17. Washington's passing accuracy was by far the most impressive part of TCA's team. UC's offense inability to deal with 8 men in the box was discouraging.
  18. Not sure what your logic is because Wayne Co beat Mt.Pleasant,a 1-3 team 29-0..Union City beat Trenton ,another 1-3 team that's a 2a school 48-0 if you wanted to go by that..And Union City did beat Wayne Co..the best of my knowledge in a scrimmage 3-0..Whether Wayne Co may have people out doesn't really matter.Union City beat the players wearing a Wayne Co uniform that day..Anyway..it will work itself out.I'm from Lake Co and I'm not sold on the Falcons being in the top 10 myself..But ..I will say this..Have seen Union City and they will be a tough game for anyone in Single A.. The morning and midday before the Wayne Co. scrimmage Union City had just finished their last practice of full contact at football camp.
