Whatever...I know we had a good early season scrimmage last night against Claiborne Co. We played alot of younger guys and were working on player development more than trying to look impressive in a scrimmage..The next scrimmage is vs Halls in abt a week and a half. Probably alot sharper scrimmage.

Well I will try again to get back to a football discussion since the season starts soon... Grace scrimmages Claiborne Co.(I think anyway) tonight and Halls next week. I am admitted Grace fan and supporter but I also know my football and I see alot of opportunities but also alot of challenges for Grace this season..We really won't know alot about them until several weeks into the season...The CAK game will be very difficult to win..Last year our O-Line had a heck of a time stopping their pass rush..We should be improved on defense but until we show team discipline on the field in an officiated game I will continue to think we play very loose in that regard. We were not able to stop S Pitt last year after the first quarter and I attributed that to about three "special players" they had..I know they return at least one of those three this year but frankly we won't play a team as strong as they are this season or next due to the penalties. Greenback will be another tough game based on recent history..I don't know enough yet about our other opponents but "predict" wins/losses and I have not seen us practice or scrimmage yet..I just get the news feeds from players..Everyone seems upbeat about having a fun year and I expect Grace to compete in every game we play even against CAK..Question marks in my mind: Can the offense move the ball consistently and will we play more disciplined with penalties and stupid int's/fumbles..Will the kicking game be improved? I can't wait to find out..Go RAMS!!!!!!!!

Check all the records...The colors are Royal Blue and Gold...Not Blue and White or Blue and Black...Karns has not had a winning season in over 30...Yes 30!!! years...Find another team with that long of a losing streak in the entire state. The problems are DEEP seeded and there are multiple reasons Karns struggles in football..However, Karns IS capable of winning and traditionally the community rallies in other sports to support the team..Even when Karns football is mediocre good crowds attend games. OK..How to fix Karns Football. 1. The current coaching staff has to go..To much baggage and no real results. 2. An administrator(preferably the principal) must have a plan..Leadership starts at the top and the person or the "champion" of the renewed revival must be within the school. 3. The principal must hire a charismatic young yet experienced coach who wants an opportunity and who has some emotional attachment to Karns. 4. The Principal must rally the boosters and recruit more of the business owners who live in the community to help revive Karns..Some of the these boosters have given ALOT to Grace Christian Academy in recent years.. 5. The New coaching staff must work together(one man can't do it alone) to revive Karns ONCE DOMINANT youth teams and stop letting all the talent that is zoned for Karns transfer to other public schools or play for Webb, Catholic or Grace. 6. Make Football "popular" within the student body again.. Use unique approaches to lure the many potential athletes to play. Karns has historically had many many good athletes refuse to play football. I could keep going but that is a start

6-24 over last 3 yrs?? How about this...Not a single winning season in the past 35 years...Even South Greene and Campbell County and Red Boiling Springs have accomplished that...Let's see what happens.

Now that we have about 30 pages of South Pitt, Harriman, Sunbright, Cloudland, Greenback, Rockwood etc. comments and viewpoints on our program and the TSSAA penalties I would like to suggest that we return this thread to a discussion of what I originally started it for and that is a discussion of Grace Rams 2010 football. We all understand the penalties and the viewpoints of other 1A schools in our region. I appreciated the West fans comments following our spring time scrimmage. Nice to actually talk football. I still think it's too early to tell how strong Grace will be in 2010. Several 8th graders will make an impact. The running game looks pretty good but we may have a new unproven QB. #3 Waters who was all-district at OLB as a frosh may be playing safety not LB. Hmmm Should be a good summer of workouts for the young men. Go Rams.

No, Kids currently in the program can't leave without sitting a year unless the parent moves residence more than 20miles from Grace's school grounds.(It's a bit more detailed than that but that is the jist of the rule to my understanding)..Additionally, a "hardship" situation can be granted for immediate eligibility but those situations are rare and probably would only be applicable to a couple of players if they chose to try to get the hardship waiver approved. Believe me this has been thouroughly explored.

I am not sure about many of the young men named in previous posts..I am sure many are outstanding young players. One as of yet un-named player that must be listed is Trent Waters of Grace Christian Academy in Knoxville.....Yes, Grace will not be in the playoffs and they are taking their "lumps" for TSSAA infractions but Waters started as a Freshman at Outside LB and was all-district, played on all special teams, returned kicks and started at WR..He's 6'1" and 195 and is pretty fast but not a "burner". He made several game saving plays last year for Grace and already holds the school record for 3 INT's in a single game. He will be highly recruited as a Jr and Sr. if he has a good Soph yr and gets even stronger.

I want to make it very clear to all that Penguin had bad information about #3. He has been in Grace since childhood and his family pays for his tuition. End of story.

I agree with both Skippy and Pepsi500's comments..There have been many questions rasied regarding the situation that occured in the SP Game..We were all embarassed frankly....LEt's hope that we can take the many positives the program had in 2010 and more forward eliminating the obvious negatives.

Well..Congrats to all the young men listed on this team...I am sure it is well deserved. However, I will be curious to see the Writer's team when it comes out tomorrow. There wasn't as a single player from Grace Christian Academy on the Coaches Team and that seems odd. When was this vote of coaches taken and how many coaches actually voted??

Rams lose several key sr's but also have many solid young players coming back in 2010. The biggest questions are 1. How hard do they want to work in the offseason with weights and spring practice and 2. who will the leaders be that will step up and say "NO" to the penalties and lack of discipline that seemed to pop up in about 75% of the games this season including the games against SPitt and Gibbs/Rockwood and 2nd Harriman game. Go Rams in 2010!!!

Congrats to each and every player in the state finals on both teams..A special congrats to the entire Webb Spartan team..A extra extra special AWESOME JOB to my nephew on the Spartans team...You know who you are...You guys did it together buddy, I am so proud of you. Enjoy this championship...but don't don't let it be the highlight of your life..let it be a stepping stone to show you that you can accomplish great things through hard work and helping those around you.

Here is a question for the SPitt faithful. After seeing T Rob last friday as a Grace Fan I was very impressed. I also saw Randall Cobb a lot in high school and I wondered why Terrell wasn't or isn't being looked at by any larger sec schools or just larger schools in general. What's the background or history to his recruitment??

As a Grace Fan I got to see S Pitt friday and unless UCity can stop Terrell and the tailback this game will be a SPitt victory. I think the only way to slow them down is to play more zone coverage and load 3backers and force Terrell to pass more. He has a good arm but by using a backer to man cover a receiver like Grace did(their best tackler at LB in Waters I might add)just left two guys to cover Terrell and the tailback. Both those guys are special athletes and Terrell deserves his Mr Football Award.I think UCity has to leave the receivers.a little more open and committ to stopping the run and hope the receivers drop balls etc. Good luck to the Pirates. Maybe we can play again next season and make it a little closer game.

From Grace Christian Academy Frank on the DLine and Waters the outside LB/Receiver/QB should be strongly considered.

Congrats to South Pitt, Just a better team overall.. The QB and tailback #11 could play and star at any class level. Hopefully Grace's younger players will see what it takes to get to the Finals. Grace has many young players.Minga, Waters many others. I dont think the talent gap between the two teams is that big except for those two players(QB and 11)..clearly the best two on the field. Not gonna complain about refs..Grace plays way too un-disciplined and I wondered why until I saw the the head coach refuse to send #5 to the locker room and re-inforced the lack of discipline..Refs should have just ejected him..He is not a reflection of the team I assure you. The fans for S Pitt supported their team and were just vocal etc Nothing too crazy. However, some ofthe over the hill posters on this board make the school look horrible and dont reflect the proud history...they just make the school look like "new money". Maybe that will change if more than the same few posters from SP post. Unless Union City is very fast and physical S Pitt wins easily...I think S Pitt could play wih many teams in 4-5A but there are limits. Don't believe they beat Farragut, Webb, Alcoa, Maryville etc. Go Rams in 2010..

Sounds to me like this thread has almost no real football strategy discussion..Appears to be a bunch of older S. Pitt fans living off past victories thinking that tradition matters at all to the opposing team of 15-18 yr olds who have no idea where South Pittsburg actually is and probably don't care. I agree with Attenchun, you guys sound like old women...Oh, and the guys piling on from Cloudland and especially Sunbright....gimme a break... Tell you what, I will add some intelligence to the thread and just say this...Both teams have fairly equal talent as it spreads out 11 on 11..We have are not strong on KO coverage. We have certain defensive sets that can be exploited which I won't go into detail on, however, we have alot of multiple sets on offense that keep defenses guessing and we have alot of talent at receiver and several good options at RB. Our defense stops the run better than the pass. So tell me about the Pirates????

Roy you also border on racism and bigotry with your comments..You need to re-read this type of thing before you post it or I will have you and your posts removed from Coach T. There is no place for bigoted comments about black/white speed etc. You should be ashamed of yourself.
