  1. ...featuring Denver players from non-traditional areas like Tennessee and Kentucky. 2012 NCAA Program
  2. I heard from some people who were there that the "injury" last week was a mysterious one that appeared only after he was benched by the head coach for the 2nd half of the game after committing a personal foul. After halftime, he was sitting on the bench when the coach told him that only players who were going to play could sit on the bench and that, since he was not going to play, he would have to go to another area on the sideline. At that point, he got up from the bench, took off his pads, and told the trainer that his shoulder was sore and that he needed to have ice applied to it.
  3. I thought I had Bars in the list. Tanner is not listed on the UK roster. Thanks for the additions from Chattanooga!
  4. Thanks. I found one player on the Samford roster and 2 on the Navy roster. I added them to the list.
  5. There is a phrase for this kind of stuff in Texas: "Big hat, no cattle." Until the REAL team in the EAST plays a competitive DII team, we will never know.
  6. Here is a list of DII players that I could come up with who are playing at the next level: MBA: Brad Bars (Penn St.) Ben Bartholomew (UT) Wesley Johnson (Vandy) Reggie Ford (Vandy) Charlie Byrge (Vandy) Fitz Lassing (Vandy) Andrew Fletcher (Louisville) Preston Bailey (MTSU) Spencer Wise (MTSU) Nathan Wade (Furman) Andrew Phillips (Furman) EJ Vinsang (Furman) Tee Griscom (Furman) BA: Chris Jordan (Alabama) Mike Berry (Auburn) AJ Green (Auburn) Alex Bullard (Notre Dame) Thad McHaney (Vandy) Ishmael Lewis (TSU) John Garrett (WKU) Barry Dabney (Navy) Mason Graham (Navy) Will Ballard (Samford) Ryan: Ernie Owusu (Cal) Nick Pollard (UT-C) Ryan Berry (TSU) Jonathan Brown (Carson-Newman) Ensworth: Tavarres Jefferson (MTSU) KP McDermott (UCLA) Orleans Darkwa (Tulane) Sam Cooper (Clemson) Jacob Carter (UT) Michael Dunn (TCU) JPII: Wesley Tate (Vandy) Devin Wilson (TSU) McCallie: Jay Fullam - Vanderbilt Midoho Okpokowuruk - Tenn Tech Drew Tompkins - Tenn Tech BJ Coleman - UTC Joel Bradford - UTC Thomas Green - UTC Blake Coddington - UTC Trace Walker - UTC Paden Gaines - Emory & Henry Keenon Rush - Wake Forest Joey Skogan - Wheaton Baylor: Kevin Cooper - Tennessee Austin Elrod - UTC
  7. Rushing: O. Darkwa (TULN) - 16 CAR, 72 YDS, 3 TD Early in 4th. Tulane up 27-14.
  8. Preston Bailey (MBA grad) started at offensive tackle for MTSU vs Minnesota tonight. He is red-shirt soph. Transferred from UT. The games is on ESPNU. He is #79.
  9. Rushing: O. Darkwa (TULN) - 11 CAR, 39 YDS, 2 TD Tulane ahead 17-7 at half vs SE Louisiana. Game audio: http://den-a.plr.liquidcompass.net/standard_plr/audio_player.php?id=WISTAM&playerType=silverlight
  10. MBA defense has 2 shutouts and EHS did not show much O vs Oakland. MBA offense has not been very impressive in 1st 2 games. I wouldn't go if you want to see a high-scoring affair but it should be a hard-fought game. EHS has to be doubly smarting after their playoff loss to MBA last year and after the opening loss to Oakland. They had high hopes to compete for the title last year. Both teams are playing a lot of inexperienced players. Has anyone heard if Antonio recovered during the week off? Did EHS make any changes to stimulate their offense? I think that MBA was somewhat intimidated by EHS until the playoff victory last year. They are much more confident this year.
  11. I know Caleb was very upset that he had to leave MBA and I think there was more to it than just going to play for his granddad. From what I have heard, some personality conflicts between coaches had a major role in the Counce's departure. It came at a very tough time for Caleb.
  12. Reigle and Kay are definitely the leaders on defense. One thing that nobody has mentioned is that MBA is starting the season without 3 seniors and 1 junior who were expected to be major contributors this year. Chase Pruett played a lot at wideout last year but decided not to come out his year. Connor Pagnani signed a lacrosse scholarship and is focusing on lacrosse instead of football. He is 6'4 or something and played a fair amount on D last year. Zemel Shropshire was the 2nd team LB last year but is no longer at school. The junior was Caleb Counce who left when he dad left the coaching staff (suddenly) after spring practice. Caleb played some TE last year and figured to play on both sides of the ball this year. The loss of these players opened up the door for some of the younger guys like Morphis and the freshmen.
  13. It says in the paper that he went out at halftime. They were already down 20.
  14. According to the stats posted by Oakland Patriots: http://www.highschoolsports.net/gamestats/Oakland-High-School-Murfreesboro-TN/38317938/Football/Varsity/Boys/ Ensworth had 23 yards rushing on 27 carries compared to 215 on the ground for Oakland. Oakland was up 20-0 at the half.
  15. From the Oakland message board: Game #1 is in the books as the Patriots exacted a little revenge tonight on Ensworth, winning 20-7. Really solid on both sides of the ball in the first half as Oakland held Ensworth to -5 yards total offense in the first half while coming up with 164 yards of total offense. The Oakland defense was aided by good special teams play and the horrific play of the Ensworth offense in the first half, who had 2 snaps sail over the Qb's head, with one almost ending up a safety. Ensworth was able to hurt Oakland a little on the ground early, but Oakland was able to tighten up to seal the win. Offense had a few chances to put this game out of reach and wasnt able to capitalize, but also give credit to Ensworth, they fought hard to get back into the game and have a solid defense. For all talk of a balanced offense, it was once again the ground game that ruled the day. Really solid win considering it was against a solid opponent and with it being the first game of the season.............
  16. Just saw this final. Any details on the game from anyone?
  17. Trinity: Lost 8-6. The guys said that they played horribly. Cold and tired after the bus trip. Had 30 turnovers. More turnovers than shots. Connor P had a hat trick and team stayed in the game until the end but could not rally. They said Trinity was hungry and energetic and celebrated like they had won the national championship after the game. Collegiate: Won 10-9. Another lackluster effort but had a 4 goal lead late in the 4th until Collegiate rallied. After a cold night, it was hot on Saturday in Louisville and the guys got gassed at the end. Again, Collegiate seemed really up for the game and knocking off MBA seemed to be a big potential feather in their caps. Carmel: 13-6 (I think) 3rd game in 2 1/2 days for MBA, but it was a rout in their favor. Clay A had 5-6 goals. Carmel was man-up the whole 4th period against the 2nd defense and scored 3 or 4 goals at the end to make it look closer than it was.
  18. I am pretty sure that the MBA players who were recruits spent almost every weekend this summer at one camp or another. I think they also went to some camps in the fall. It is amazing that Connor and Clay have already committed before they even have played any of their junior years. Our best football players dd not know where they were going to college until February of their senior years. They did not get offers until the last week before signing day.
  19. I heard MBA got back from Chattanooga at midnight. Guys were tired. They won the scrimmage against McCallie. Not sure of the score. St X is 2-time defending state champ in KY. I thought MBA's looked very solid. Midfield line of Curtis, Pagnani and Adams is going to be awesome. Near misses galore or this one could have been a blowout. Charpentier is a nice addition at Attack.

  21. Talk about missing my point completely... Be quiet, Bradley. We all have known you since pre-K. You comments about racism are patently ridiculous and you know it. When rivals pays you enough to put food on your parents table, we will be impressed. Until then, you are a wannabe, never-was, can't-do-it-so-I-write-about-it poster boy. The typical type of person who goes into journalism and then pulls out an emotional tool like the "race card" when things don't go their way. Grow up.
  22. Fletcher missed 2 FGs during the game including a 39 yarder that would have won it at the end of regulation.
  23. The MBA boys showed poise and character and deserved to come up with the W. However, they never would have had a chance without the help of the Ensworth head coach. It was ego and vanity that made him go for it on 4th down on his own 30 and it was ego and vanity that made him go for the touchdown instead of the go-ahead field goal in the 4th quarter. Those coaching decisions gave MBA a chance to get back into the game. Without them, they had no real chance.
  24. Congrats to Big Red!!!! Tough one for EHS.
