  1. I am proud of our region, and especially the Jackets! Would have been nice to see our boys play a Hendersonville, but maybe next season we will have a better chance. Over heard some gentlemen talking about our Jackets playing Gallatin and Greenbrier next season. Coach Myers has a great nucleus of players returning for the 2011 season, and in year three we expect great things from our program. Year One = 4 - 7 Year Two = 8 - 3 Year Three could be special! Now to Mr. Red Warrior, your beating a dead horse with your comments. Everyone has heard you numberous times how you feel about our coaches. I for one really enjoy talking to these men, and believe you would like many of them too. As I have read in these post you keep ignoring Coach Southerland's request to meet him. He is an outspoken young man I agree, but I can honestly say he works as hard or harder than any coach I have ever met! So before you place judgement on this young man I wish you would first meet him and you may change your mind. You have a great team, and it shows year in and year out! I hope that our Jackets will be as good as Henry County in the near future, and I honestly agree with you on one point! The Jackets need to beat the Patriots to get over the hump. Lets move on gentlemen!
  2. Word at Lary's dinner in Springfield is that the Jackets are taking heed and playing Greenbrier and Beech or Gallatin next year. This year the two game they played out of region were White House who beat Liberty Tech last night, and Greenbrier who lost to Lexington last night. Springfield beat both combined 76 - 7. Guess this weak schedule caused the Jackets to lose round one to a Clarksville team that almost made it to the quarterfinals. I will say Myers did a great preseason this year due to the district strength. Maybe your coach will do the same. Teams Springfield played preseason: JPII, CPA, FRA, and McGavock. Three private and One public 6A team. I think scrimmage games against these schools helped with our 8-3 final record. Next year is a new season though!
  3. Please understand that I am not trying to be rude, but don't you have to win a championship to have a championship mind. You are 100% correct that playing rounds 2, 3, 4, or a title build winning programs. I just feel that when Henry County first started winning games again 5-6 years ago you were happy getting to the playoffs as we are now in Springfield, and in the next few years we will be like Henry County I hope going deep in the playoffs each year. However, your team has a championship in mind each year, but wouldn't you rather have that championship as a tangable object than an intangable object.
  4. Now that is funny! Not TCU, but think they did leap Boise State this week along with everyone else! Good luck to Clarksville, Henry County, and Northeast! Instead of wondering what if's, we should support our region. Tennessee considers our region weak, and this week we could have 2 teams playing in round three at Patriot stadium. I will say it was heart breaking to lose, but two of my friends have told me about two teams that should be in the final game December 3rd. Those teams are Ridgeway from Memphis and Powell from East Tennessee. So is a round one lose the same as a quarter final lose? Either way if you dont win you go home the same way dont ya? I am just glad to see our team winning again, and eventually I hope we are like a Henry County and play for a chance year in and year out, but unlike Henry County I hope we actually win the game that is truly important. Which brings back my question again! Does it truly matter when you lose in the playoffs? Either way you go home in tears dont you wondering what if we did something different!
  5. What team was on the field? This was not the same team that played here all year! Couldnt tackle #8, looked lathargic most the night, and Dickerson was fighting with the linemen in first half. Not the Jacket team I have watched all year. Clarksville was not the better team, but in a famous quote heard through the ages I can only reference one thing. "Trap!!!" This was the typical trap game, and we were the mouse in the trap. Congrats to the Wildcats, and good luck next week at Northeast! That pass interference was also a joke. The official said the ball was tipped, but when Campbell threw the ball there was no one in his path. So who tipped the ball? I also believe that we should have kicked the field goals, but then again I don't coach and am an arm chair quarterback. I believe that Coach Myers made a call that he felt was right, and I thought that we were given a bad spot on the first attempt. Campbell's first push put him at the 4 yard line, but then the official marked the ball he put it on the 5 yard line. Then again, my view was different than the officials, and the truth of the matter is we did not play tonight. Simply put, who was the team that was on the field tonight?
  6. 2006 we hosted Stratford round one, then Clarksville High round 2. Clarksville was a rematch from week 10 that year where we won a close game in regular season to only lose in the second round. For the White House fans I have one question for you? When I was at the Greenbrier game it seemed as if Greenbrier had their way throwing the ball in the spread, but Greenbrier is a WingT team that easily threw the ball on the Devils. Springfield is a true spread team that throws daily, and I believe they will have a big night in the air, but when you stop the pass then comes the dose of the run game. I can honestly say you have not faced an offense like ours this year, but we have faced 4 teams that like to play power football. Henry County, Dickson County, Northeast, and Greenbrier! We will be prepared for your power game, but are you ready to run all over the field for 4 quarters! Just wondering!
  7. I have seen White House play both Smith County and Greenbrier this year. From what I have seen is a young Devil team working hard, but continues to come up short in games. This bothers me, because they still carry that darn BDP with them on the field. Pride can make a man do things he normally cannot. I truly see this game being a war for 3 quarters, but the Jackets pull away in the 4th quarter on 2 big plays winning by 11 points. My final thought on score will be Blue Devils 24 - Jackets 35. Halftime we will have a game that is Devils 10 - Jackets 14, but the speed kicks in with Jackets scoring on one long drive and two quick drives. The Devils will trade touch downs in the 3rd and 4th, but come up short late in the 4th quarter. Two good teams, but playing two ways against the Jackets will tire you out by the 4th quarter. However, this will be a great rival game on Friday Night.
  8. Trust me, there is no love between White House and Springfield! To say they hate each other I was harsh, however, they really dislike eachother. If you are a true Blue Devil or Jacket fan you do not like the other school accross the field this week. I can honestly say I truly dislike White House, and beating them will be a great feeling. I cannot believe that everyone keeps mentioning past games. I mean look at Alabama's loss to South Carolina, then this week South Carolina gets beat by Kentucky. Just proves some teams play better against certain styles. Like McAdams said on 104.5 tonight on the radio, "Some games your players just play harder against rivals, and when this happens big plays occur!" I totally agree, some games you just play harder, and this week both teams will play their best games of the year. It will come down to who has more gas in the 4th quarter. Past games have no meaning come Friday night, because it comes down to the 2010 editions of White House and Springfield on October 22nd at 7:30 on Boyce Smith Field!
  9. An old friend of mine past away a few weeks ago, and he was on White House's first football team. He was proud of his team, and never spoke down on another program. Lets honor these boys, and stop this back and forth schedule bickering! On any night anybody can win a ball game! Records aside, these two teams hate each other, will play their best games for a victory, and has more than pride driving both programs. White House is looking to make the Playoffs again, and need this win with next week to make a post season statement. Springfield is looking to make the Playoffs week one a home game, plus it is senior night. I see this game being close into the late third quarter, but watching Thursday night football I see one big issue that no one is talking about! Springfield has 2 players that start both sides, where White House has 8 players that start both sides of the ball. If it comes down to endurance I wonder if the Devils can keep up with the jackets late into the 4th Quarter. The WingT is 4 yards and a cloud of dust, but the spread may have you running all over the field. Key to the team that wins: Which group is fresh in the 4th Quarter. Good Luck to both teams!
  10. Dont know much about Northwest, but watched Alabama lose today proving to not overlook any team. I personally think a short week last week hurt our team against Kenwood. I sure hope that Coach Myers gets the team back on the same page this week. This is the typical trap game for the Jackets, and I hope the team shows last week was a fluke!
  11. With the game tomorrow just wondering how our boys are looking with the short week! Seems as if Kenwood is much improved with a 3-3 record, but how will the game go for both Kenwood and the Jackets? Reading the website homepage saw that Kenwood is the Wing T, and their wins are impressive scoring plenty of points. Just wondering how our Defense will fair to the Kenwood speed.
  12. I first want to say congrats to Coach Myers, his staff, and the team. I saw a different Springfield team out there on the field last night, and there was a large crowd on the home side. Granted, Rossview is sure not Henry County and Dickson County, but anything can happen any night you play this game. I am glad we one homecoming. What type of offense does Kenwood run, and why are we playing on Thursday night. The schedule has us playing on Friday! What is the best way to get to the Knights Field, and if it is a Thursday night game what time is kick-off? Mr. Converse shared a website with me last night that can keep Springfield fans updated with team information on our football home page. The website is leaguelineup.com/gojackets so check it out
  13. I have been reading all the post tonight, and why does everyone say that the coaches are still crying about these past few games. On the radio show, of each games, Coach Myers credited to starting slow in both games, and also mentioned the team has grown up alot the past 5 games. I personally cannot see how it is Springfield creating all this drama. As to clairly a few statements by Henry County fans: 1. The coaches of both teams and players prayed together after the Henry County game. 2. We lost the game, Coach Myers has acknowledged it, and moved on! 3. This post is Springfield vs Rossview, please share thoughts on this game, and why live in the past. 4. It was a few fans that acted out of line at Dickson County, and not the coaches. Now a player was disciplined after the game, and trust me every school has fans like this. Gallatin and Springfield experienced this last year in the playoffs. So dont use a few people as the criteria for a city and a program. If so, the young man and girl that cursed out my wife at the playoff game last year makes your program look bad. However, I enjoyed the atmosphere and understand every program has yahoos! As for this Tremantorvis, if your going to post represent your program in a positive manner, and read the board rules from CoachT, or this OldJacketFan will report you to the administrator and stop the conversations all together. Homecoming Springfield 35 - Rossview 14 Henry County 28 - Northeast 20
  14. First of all good game, and sometimes we will have to learn to be 12 point underdowgs from the start. The first 5 plays and the final 5 plays desmantled our team. That was caused by the officials. Point in making: Tyler Campbell was sitting in the endzone when they said he was not accross the line. Anyone want to see the footage, coach myers has the copy. Secondly can we start a game with out a false start on a play that we seem to run every down. I saw that the only officials that threw flags was the official on the Dickson county sideline (HINT HINT), and the Back judge. They were painting the field yellow, and I could not see any for the cougars. Well rossview is next, and I hope we all learned a valuable lesson: Dont allow the officials to cause you a game! Next time just run the darn clock run!
  15. I learned the TSSAA rule that a team can false start in a game with 3 minutes or more left and be granted a full 25 seconds for their next play last Friday night at the Henry County vs Springfield game. Now that we have seen this rule in action, I hope a team in the state championship game false starts 10 times with a 1 point lead in the championship game this December. To be honest, a team with no times outs is in a pickle if the team is winning by 1 point at at the 30 yard line on 3rd down with 4 minutes remaining in the game and understands the ruling by TSSAA. A FASLE START BY THE OFFENSE GRANTS A FULL 25 SECONDS AND CLOCK WILL RUN! All A team has to do is wait for 1 second remaining on the play and false start then be granted a full 25 seconds to run another play with the game clock running. How can the TSSAA allow this to happen? How can you reward a team for an offensive false start penality by giving them a full 25 seconds and not stop the clock? From what I understand this has happened twice to Springfield this year, and one was a JV game along with last friday nights game. Also it is funny that both games were losses to the Jackets! The JV's only loss was by 4 to West Creek who false started 4 times to run a 3 minute clock down to 30 seconds, and the other was the Varsity's loss by 7 to Henry County which false started 3 times to run a 2 minute clock down to 18 seconds. I know I am harping on everyone, but someone please explain this rule to me!
  16. I agree with the situation with turning the ball over, but we all learn from mistakes. I would rather have our team lose in week 4 than week 11. Granted the lose was heart breaking at the time, and we all learned much about the team and the game of high school football. So I am pretty sure Coach Myers, the staff, and the players have worked hard to fix the problems we have faced these past few weeks. Also remember that we are still a young team, and I am really waiting to see how our boys will respond to last weeks mishaps. I am also glad we learned the TSSAA rule that a team can false start in a game with 3 minutes or more left and be granted a full 25 seconds for their next play. Now that we know this I hope a team in the state championship game false starts 10 times with a 1 point lead in the championship game this December. To be honest, a team with no times outs is in a pickle if the team is winning by 1 point at at the 30 yard line on 3rd down with 4 minutes remaining and understand the ruling by TSSAA. All the team has to do is wait for 1 second and false start ten times and the game is over. How can the TSSAA allow this to happen? How can you reward a team for an offensive penality? Then grant the team a running clock and fresh 25 second play clock!
  17. Brandon Farmer is number 8 (plays WR, punter, kick returner, and punt returner) Tim Barbee in number 7 (plays WR, long snapper) The jackets needed a game like this before the playoffs. Henry County has played in many of these games in the past few years, and your players remained calm. I still believe that the jackets beat themselves, but my hats off to the patriots. TSSAA needs to change the rule that allows a team to run down a 25 second clock, jump offsides, and get a fresh 25 seconds to use after the penality. More coaches should use this rule with 3 minutes left on a clock. Heck, if you wanted to use the rule correctly, Springfield took its last time out on 2nd down with 2 minutes 45 seconds on the clock, then the patriots should have jumped offsides the rest of the game with 2 minutes 5 seconds left and not given the ball back. Instead they jump off 3 times, burn 1 minute 40 seconds, then on the fourth offsides the officials called delay of game. How can a rule punish a defense and a team that stopped a team with 2 minutes 45 seconds remaining to allow an offense to get fresh clocks for jumping offsides? This rule is completely idiotic!!! Who knows, the 2 minutes may not have allowed a difference in the game! However, I believe that the patriots were worried that if the jackets received the ball they would have tied the game. But we shall never know now!
  18. Congrats to Henry County, and I hope to see you guys again. Springfield just cannot turn the ball over 6 times and win a ball game against a good team such as Henry County. Plus I think the TSSAA needs to change the offsides rule. Springfield used two time outs to get the ball back with 2 min 10 seconds on the clock. On 3rd and long the jackets stopped the ball to make it 4th down. However, how can an Association punish a team for making a good play and allow another team to run the clock down to 1 sec and jump offsides to reward that team with a fresh 25 seconds. Good coaching on the Patriots, but horrible rule by the TSSAA. Just think if the shoe was on the other foot and it was Springfield jumping offsides and the Patriots were being punished the Patriot team and fans would feel as we are today. A shame for such a great game to end this way!
  19. Tomorrow night at this time we will see if the jackets are ready for the next step. We hope the Patriots bring a crowd to show our community that we need to build a new stadium at the high school. Drive safe to Boyce Smith Field! There will be parking at the high school and a shuttle bus starting around 6.
  20. Henry County is ranked number 10 this week in the state. Would be nice to see our Jackets win this game to get this community behind our team. I do believe this game will be tougher than Henry County fans will expect. This is a new year, a new team, and a new chance to win the big game. I just hope by games end Henry County will see that Coach Myers, the staff, and players are not the same ole Springfield! Be safe on your drive to the stadium, just take exit 24 and take a left. Go ten miles and you will pass under a train bridge and you will see the middle school to your left on the hill. Parking will be tough, so make sure you get to the field early. See you all Friday!
  21. I wish I heard more about the players than the former coaches. Springfield is 3-0 which is impressive, and Henry County is 3-1 which is very impressive too. The major difference from this year and last is it is a new year. Why can people not just give both teams credit up to this point in a new year, and wait intil Friday night to smack talk?
  22. We love our Jackets, and will be in full force. The 3-0 record has revived the community, and I agree last year was poor in attendance. However, as you know, winning changes the way people act. Coach Myers, and his staff, has our boys playing well, and we plan to pack Boyce Smith Friday night. "If you win, they will come!" If the game is anything like the Greenbrier game you will not be able to hear all night!
  23. This will be the toughest test for the Jackets! I just think the preseason and first three games were used to prep the team for the Patriots. Preseason: JPII, CPA, FRA, and McGavock Games 1 - 3: Greenbrier, Northeast, and Clarksville Not to mention all three were big games: Greenbrier cross town rival, Northeast talent loaded with Speed/Size/and revenge, and Clarksville High had their homecoming game against us. The Jacket/Patriot game is another chance against a district rival, and will be a great atmosphere at Boyce Smith Field Friday night.
  24. Mr. Chaos, if the Patriots win by 3 touchdowns I will by you dinner. Plus why do you keep referencing the past. How many titles does Henry County hold in football? If history tells the a teams worth, then we can go to the Boyce Smith Era, the title won in the 90's, and had good teams every year except 07 and 08. Tradition is nice, but tradition does not play the game in 2010, but it can help! Why live in the past, lets let the boys show who is better on Friday? Instead of getting into a male measuring contest, lets talk about the players and coaches that will make this a great night of football.
  25. Well if it comes to discipline you can reference many different definations! I disciplined my boys in the 60's different than I see parents discipline their children today. Plus you must have discipline off the field with your attitude in the community and classroom, and another form of discipline on the field as to do your job. I can honestly say Coach Myers has worked hard, along with his coaching staff, to educate the boys on their discipline off the field and removed pretty much all the problems from what I see on Friday Nights and scrimmages. In the past players would act a fool, but this team seems to be a good group of young men. Secondly, when I watch the game from week to week I see the coaches coaching our players each and every play. Coach Myers told his linemen on Friday to learn from a missed block, and know not to make the mistake again as he showed them how to correct the blocking scheme. I see a military system in Coach Myers's discipline. Must be from living in Clarksville, but in the past the players would have quit, and this year they get their chewing and respond. That takes true discipline to be corrected and perform at a high level. Hats off to our coaching staff! I have seen all three games this year and all scrimmages, my only concern is that the Jackets have yet to put in a complete game. I just hope this is the week!
