  1. I bet the Lawrence County purple and gold will blend right in Friday night!!
  2. Great game tonight by both teams! Congrats to Tullahoma your team played well. I would also like to Congratulate the LCHS players and coaches on another great season! The LCHS team is a class act and I am very proud of you. I thought yall left everything on the field tonight and the coaches did a good job of giving the boys the best opportunity to win the game. In the end T'town just had to many weapons. We just need to take the weekend off and start getting ready for another great season next year!
  3. Columbia did indeed have two losses but they were to Tullahoma and Lincoln County. Your point was still well taken.
  4. OK people please listen! I have just talked with the TSSAA and I would like to say that both arguements are correct. The TSSAA did not define the rule correctly. The way the TSSAA has the handbook written then Bradley Central would be the 5AAA champs but in reality Cleveland is indeed your champs. The TSSAA representative I spoke with said they would look at the wording of the tie breaker rule and make any changes they needed to be made to ensure this confusion was taken care of. I really don't have a dog in this race but this arguement got me curious and I just had to call and find out the answer. I can see both arguements and I for one thought Bradley Central was the champs until I talked to the TSSAA. I do hope this answer will settle this confusion and we can move on to what this post was supposed to be about, how this game between Lawrence County and Cleveland turns out! If my answer does not satisfy everyone, here is the TSSAA number to call: 615-889-6740. Sometimes you get a recording and sometimes you actually get to talk with a real person. I think there must be a few fans and coaches calling in the tell them what a great job they did this year with the playoffs!!
  5. We have heard about all the "legal transfers" and players changing uniforms during the game. Sad to hear but we will be keeping our eyes open in Lawrence County friday night!!
  6. Looks about right except I honestly think Memphis East gets in and pushes Lawrence County out. If they win they pretty much will have the tie breaker with that win over that Mississippi school.
  7. That would be correct. SS would win the #2 tie breaker. I actually think Sullivan South wins this game but I gave Tennessee the edge since they were the home team.
  8. This is how I see things shaping up after everything is said and done. It looks to me like if the teams in Quad 3 doesn't kill each other then that Quad will again be where your state champion comes from! Let me know what you think.......... Quad 1 1 Powell 2 Knoxville West 3 Daniel Boone 4 Morristown West 5 Tennessee 6 Sullivan South 7 Morristown East 8 David Crockett (8)David Crockett @ (1)Powell (7)Morristown East @ (2)Knoxville West (6)Sullivan South @ (3)Daniel Boone (5)Tennessee @ (4)Morristown West Quad 2 1 Lawrence County 2 Anderson County 3 Knoxville Catholic 4 Tullahoma 5 Shelbyville 6 Cleveland 7 White County 8 Lenior City (8)Lenoir City @ (1)Lawrence County (7)White County @ (2) Anderson County (6)Cleveland @ (3)Knoxville Catholic (5)Shelbyville @ (4) Tullahoma Quad 3 1 Henry co 2 Columbia 3 Springfield 4 Beech 5 Hendersonville 6 Gallatin 7 Clarksville Northeast 8 Clarksville (8)Clarksville @ (1)Henry County (7)Clarksville Northeast @ (2)Columbia (6)Gallatin @ (3)Springfield (5)Hendersonville @ (4)Beech Quad 4 1 Jackson Northside 2 Ridgeway 3 Craigmont 4 Hardin co 5 Mitchell 6 Dyer co 7 Melrose 8 Memphis East (8)Memphis East @ (1)Jackson Northside (7)Melrose @ (2)Ridgeway (6)Dyer County @ (3)Craigmont (5)Mitchell @ (4)Hardin County
  9. This statement is incorrect. The TSSAA plainly states the following "when the following tie breaking procedures are applied and one team has beaten all the others(by the tie breaking rules) then that team shall be rated above the others. It never once says anything about head to head. Therefore, the winner of the Tullahoma/Lawrence County game will be the District 8AAA champion. The way this playoff scenario works out, the first tie breaker would eliminate Lincoln County/Shelbyville winner and Tullahoma. That would then leave Lawrence County and Columbia tied. The next tie breaker would then be looked at. This would eliminate Columbia and therefore Lawrence County would be the "one team that has beaten all the other teams" that were tied. Not once does the TSSAA ever say anything about head to head. Not in the District standings and not in the playoff standings. Now this is only true if Marshall County loses to Giles County as was mentioned in the original post. If Marshall County wins then the two teams would still be tied and tie breaker 3 would be looked at. From what I can gather there would still be a tie if Lincoln County beats Shelbyville. If Shelbyville wins then Columbia would win the district. If not then tie breaker 4 comes into play. I have punched in the numbers and it appears that Columbia would then win the district in tie breaker 5 by one game. Of course there is still one more week of football and lots of numbers can change. The main thing is that head to head is not a factor in determining the district standings nor the playoff standings.
  10. Dad, thanks for the nice words! It has been a while since LCHS has been on the winning side of the COWBELL game and it does feel great! Getting all our players back was a real plus and I thought we played a great game. I am sure both teams will do great the rest of the season and I look for both teams to make it deep into the playoffs. I realize it has been a while since the GCHS has tasted defeat and I must say they handled it with class. We needed this win much worse than yall did. What does it take to get a jersey retired over there in Giles County? Kind of surprised to see a #12 running around so soon! Brought back some pretty bad memories. Hope the sushi was great!
  11. I will assure you the field is in great shape. The field does have a larger than normal crown but I am not sure that will play a great part in the final score. If my memory doesn't fail me, Giles countys field had a large crown before they refinished the stadium. How we sometimes forget. Lets PLAY SOME FOOTBALL!!!!!! And by the way, we say a prayer before every sporting event in Lawerence County. The football team also has a player lead a prayer after every practice. I think that is something that makes a team a winner no matter what the score ends up being!
  12. I hope your right about LCHS having an upper hand this year! I can't remember Giles County not having tons of athletes and since your new coach came I have only seen a very physical, well coached machine! I would say as long as you keep your coach that any team he fields will always hold their own and have a great chance of winning! Good luck to both teams and hopefully and injury free game!
  13. That darn Massey Ratings computer! It knows more about football than all my friends combined! And much easier to talk to!
  14. Such a shame this matchup is the during week 0 instead of week 6 thru 10. If these two teams are as good as all the hype then it could have a lot more energy building at a later date. Should be a great game though!
  15. The Mustangs did look pretty good Friday night. Could this be the year they are the best team in the county?
