I think most would consider having a solid team most years but being consistently unable to win when it counts as underachievement. Maybe if Huntingdon's football team worked as hard as their fans do whining on CoachT about what classification Union City is in, they'd have more luck come playoff time.

I'm a UC fan but not delusional. I know that beating Ensworth is unlikely. That being said, 2A Trezevant beat them in 2015 on their way to a state championship, so the odds aren't 0. USJ though? Not sure why some folks are writing that game off. We beat them last year, and have arguably had the better team most years going back the last 10 years or so. Should be a tossup.

When's the last time a 1-3A Memphis team won state? I can only think of Trezevant in 2015/2016 (who was somehow 2A despite being 4A in 2014 and 3A in 2017) No disrespect towards Memphis schools, but until they show they can regularly compete with the rest of the state at the 1-3A level, I'm gonna pick against them come playoff time. If anyone got hosed by the refs tonight it was UC. Can't really argue that considering we had 3 TDs called back. But Huntingdon has our respect. We're gonna need to come out strong next week and set the tone like we did tonight.

The current senior class lost a lot due to kids dropping out/transferring because of covid. Also lots of kids transfer from Union City to Obion Central once they get to high school since they have more technical/occupational training classes. OC is also a bit easier academically which moves some kids out there.
