  9. Great catch for that school...will be missed in our area...East Tn wrestling just improved and with all the work Coach Derek did up there this summer things will continue to improve. Best of to you Coach Blosser...
  10. Ga has the same rules as Tn and they make it work. They schedule Coaches at dif venues than there own gym and Coach kids from other places. They also dont charge for it as some of the area clubs do down in Chattanooga so if you dont have money you still can get in practices.Coach Derek of King College did a great job of working with kids this spring and the wrestlers from that neck of the woods will be better for it this winter.Guess the good Coaching from Coach Al Miller is what has helped make Derek the man he is today.Ask Al Miller what he got paid to coach all those years. I am sure it was nothing but that man still spent countless hours of making Tn wrestling better.(still spending time with team Tn)
  11. 13. Welcome to Tn wrestling ;Confusion and lack of off season continuity...the teams sent to Cadet and Jr Duals didnt have all of the best wrestlers on it...Not one state champ on the JR team or the Cadet team either ? other states have there studs on those teams. Tn. fails to have that happen...is it to many ego's and personalities to make that work? someone feel free to explain why we wait to the last minute to delegate Coaches and put together a team ? And for those young men and coaches that step up to take on the task at the last minute. thank you for your hard work! 2010 CADET TEAM 84 (Unattached) Forf 91 Kyle Lee (Tennessee) 98 Double Forfeit 105 Dakota Bromley (Tennessee) 112 Nick Gray (Tennessee) State placer 2010 D 2 119 Garrett Alexander (Tennessee) Central Region placer 2010 125 Matt Johnson (Tennessee) 2 time state D2 placer 130 (Unattached) Forf 135 Brandon Hunt (Tennessee) 140 Aaron Lopez (Tennessee) state placer 2010 SE Regional placer 2009-2010 145 Turbo Smith (Tennessee) runner up state 2010 ,SE regions 2009 2010 ,Central Region placer 2010 152 Keagan Matlock (Tennessee) 160 McCoy Newberg (Tennessee) state placer 2010, Fresh natl placer, 2009 TOC placer 2010 171 John Shrader (Tennessee) 189 Double Forfeit 0 0.00 215 Billy Swanson (Tennessee) SE Regional placer 2009-2010 ...Tn's next 215 lb state champ 285 Unknown (Unattached Jr Team 2010 105 Kyler Smith (Tennessee) 112 - Kendall Kermick (Tennessee) 5th last 2 years 2 time placer 119 - Nicholas Maxwell (Tennessee) 5th, 5th and 2nd palce 3 time placer 125 - Anthony Patnode (Tennessee) 130 - Devan Teaster (Tennessee) 135 - Jamarious Reed (Tennessee) 140 - Parker Smith (Tennessee) 145 - Josue Brown (Tennessee) 152 - Edward Holland (Tennessee) 160 - Jonathon Roberts (Tennessee) 171 - Tyler Johnson (Tennessee) 189 - Jamison Cherry (Tennessee) 215 - Unknown (Unattached) Forf 285 - Unknown (Unattached) Forf All of these above guys will all be better for there hard work they have done this summer. What do we have to do to get others committed to getting better at the higher level or are most of the better Tn wrestlers happy to be the best just in there state. There are also some really good wrestlers injured who are not wrestling this summer that def would be if not injured as well.Wrestlers like Watson and Martino come to mind. Also heard that Duncan and Hooker were sucessful in there trip to Europe to wrestle.
  14. The Tn state tourney for free and greco was missing many of Tn best wrestlers ...why is that? It was sad to see how few Tn boys were signed up to wrestle at Southeasterns this year. Even sadder to see how few placed. Did Chatt Wrestling have any one in the Cadets and Jrs wrestling at Southeasterns I saw Soddy kids and HCW kids listed on track wrestling as medalist but did I miss CWC kids in those age groups Is there a team going to Militia duals from Chattanooga to defend there Allstar crown from last year? Will someone post the line ups for the Cadet duals and Jr duals Teams ?? How are those are picked ? I agree with many in saying Tn wrestling needs to learn from Ga and Fla, and quick before its to late ...or is it already.
  15. The Coaches and Wrestlers for the dual teams for Tn are: June 9-13 Schoolboy Duals, Indianapolis, IN ? June 14-20 Cadet Duals, Rochester, MN ? June 23-29 Junior Duals, Oklahoma City, OK ?
  16. RED BANK LOSS SOMEBODY'S GAIN wow dont know Coach Reichel personally but have seen what he has done to improve the program at Red Bank know that there is some program that can use a guy like him. Wonder what Red Bank will do now???

  20. You got to be kidding me... why dont we have a state champ for every neighborhood...heck I think my kid is the best wrestler on our dirt road LOL Olympics going on right now do the small countries compete vs the big countries, yes they do ...do some of the smallest countries in the world have wrestrling powerhouses compared to the larger ones.(Georgia one that comes to mind) why dont the Olympics start dividing wrestlers into size of countries and have numerous olympic champs Someone here said that Notre Dame and Red Bank were not for it.I think Notre Dame just about 4 years ago was D2. Region four small schools would dominate in that division.Notre Dame,Red Bank,Signal Mt, Hixson,Central...thats just what we need another way for those dang Chattanooga teams to dominate more medals in wrestling. Why dont you just go buy your son a trophy after the tourney because you think they should never lose and that life always is devided correctly or fair. All this about another division is hogwash to me.
  21. Its just Div 1 vs. Div 2 State Champs 103 Brunner (Tull) vs. Akers (Ryan) D1 Brunner wins this one just too good for Akers Oliver and Walker Valley kid all win vs Akers 112 Thomas (Bw) vs. Ward (Mc) Already wrestled @ McCallie Invitl (Sr) Thomas took care of bizness (Ward looked great in his defeat of Mosely) 119 Hames (Brad) vs. Watson (Bay) in past ... Watson ...but after seeing him struggle to a 8-6 win in finals and getting put to his back for a 5 count maybe he is losing that edge he once had over others. He has been beaten 2 times at Super 32 and at once SE Slam. Hames. 125 Lewis (SD) vs. Manley (Bay) tossup what a brutal physical match this would be could be a 1 card match and draw a crowd Lewis wins OMT here (Outstanding Mom of Tournament) 130 Lopez (Cleve) vs. Baucke (CBHS) Bauke took care of this question earlier this year 135 Herron (Brad) vs. Johnson (CBHS) Herron is in good shape unlike the lazy opponent Johnson had last night Herron 140 Chege (Rw) vs. Doster (Bay) good match, great offense of Chege vs great leg defense Doster Doster 145 Cox (Ind) vs. Johnson (CBHS) tough call on this comes down to wich one gets a take down and stalls out the rest of the match Johnson 152 Aguilar (Brad) vs. Duncan (Mc) Aguilar is good on his feet but TJ is the man when wrestling on his feet and has a great top game as well Look forward to Duncan being 1st 5 time champ Duncan 160 Jones (Cleve) vs. Todd (MBA) Todd or runner up Martino Techs or pins Jones...weakest of all weights in D1 this year glad Todd 171 Proctor (Cville) vs.Wesley (Ryan) good match Proctor deadly cross face cradle but Wesley is just to dang good Wesley 189 Kennedy (Black) vs. Ferguson (Bay) Kennedy wins due to more time on the mat during the year...Fergenson really good for a guy that splits time with football if he was as commited to wrestling as Kennedy it would be closer Kennedy 215 Croy (Bw) vs. Helton (Bay) Croy way to quick for Helton ,a great wrestler that spends most of his time on football...credit to Helton's athletic ability but not a match for Croy's mat experiance and year round wrestling (did you here his wrestling resume last night) HWT Allen (Mt. J) vs. Mackey (Bay) Allen is just too dang big for Mackey...Mackey is a beast and another star football playerwrestler from Baylor weighs bout 225lbs but Allen is a Mt of a man that shows what shopping at GNC will do for getting big in the weight room. D1 7 wins D 2 6 wins 1 toss up, have to see 125lb match to determine no way you could speculate Soddy kids mom wins best looking mom last decade BaylorMcCallie dad wins longest chair throw of last decade had to call him dad of both since chair throw happend while he was a McCallie dad
  22. D2 103 12 wrestlers in tourney 6 place no region quail just show up top 2 wouldnt even get close to medals in D1 this year 112 9 wrestlers in tourney 6 place no region quail just show up top four wrestlers are quality in this weight D2 in comp between D1 and D2 119 13 wrestlers in tourney 6 place no region quail just show up 125 15 wrestlers in tourney 6 place no region quail just show up top 3 here good as any but rest do not medal D1 this year 215 10 wrestlers in tourney 6 place no region quail just show up Helton D2 only one that would place in d1 285 12 wrestlers in tourney 6 place no region quail just show up Mackey only one with a chance placing in D1 I also have to agee with Cupcake on this; there are some wrestlers with less skills than others but they still lace up their shoes and walk out on the mat to compete. They deserve our respect and commendation. blind draws are utterly ridiculous and not having wrestle backs is absurd. As mentioned with the new venue, they have the space and the time to do the right thing and at least institute wrestle backs next year. They need to address seeding as well. In addition to making that change the TSSAA needs to have the courage to return to a single division. Wrestling is about being the best on the mat for any given match. Some schools have thousands of kids to draw from and kids clubs that start at pre-school it would seem; other schools have kids that receive scholarships to attend their school. Regardless of which circumstance you are from, every kid deserves the opportunity to know that they are the true state champion. but it will never be what everyone wants with the one true champion and Bradley will not wrestle a dual with Baylor either lol ps beating some crappy kid in the state tourney D2 is much worse than beating some crappy kid at regions
  23. I want to help explain this to you but first what are you trying to say...talking in your own region or at states.Your own region had a seed meeting and determined the top 4-5 seeds per weight then the rest is a blind draw...usually.The state seeds are determined by region champs that are returning state place winners.they get seeded if there is a returning medalist but he does not win his region then he is thrown in to the mix without being seeded.1st and 2nd place from same regions get seperated but no guarntee that 2-3rd or 4th want be on the same side. Maybe this helps and well maybe it dont. I do know that its a blind draw other than that and dont think that anyone is picking on the (formerly Region 10) now region 8 . I ref sometimes too so dont be angry at me bout that LOL
