  1. 3 Kingston Yellowjackets have signed. Morgan Snow - Lindsey Wilson Sydney Spurgeon - Chattanooga State Lindsey Stickrod - Chattanooga State
  2. Congrats to all the TN teams that made it. It was a blast to be there and there were some darn good teams. Mo was catching for the Speed and in a hitting slump but played great D. It was neat to see and visit with teams from Chicago, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Texas, Florida and California. The talent was very even among a lot of teams. There was not nearly as much "small ball" as I thought we would see but lots of big sticks. There were also a bunch of college coaches/scouts and I want to thank them for coming out too! Big Mo's proud pappy!

    Congrats CAK!

CAK won our district tonight in fine style by beating us 5-1. Shannon Plese got the win and should be the mvp in my book. She kept us off balance and used her bat to do damage too. We did make it to the regionals by beating Stone in the 1st game 9-3 but could not get the bats going against the Warriors. Plese manufactured a run early in game the by stealing 3rd and scoring on a wild throw. We tied it at 1 but CAK got 2 homers late in the game ( 1 in the park) to pull ahead 3-1. They tacked on 2 more in the 6th to seal the deal. Congrats Warriors!!!
  5. After beating CAK twice in the regular season they got a little payback on us tonight. Plese got the win and pitched a very good game and got to score the winning run. We jumped out to a 1-0 lead but that soon turned into a 2-1 deficit. In the top of the 7th we tied things up but in the bottom CAK tacked on run # 3 to end things. It was a very good game with both teams having runners in scoring position at critical times but the pitching and defense always had an answer. Big Mo went 3 for 3 and an intentional walk but suffered an untimely base running brain fart that cost us a run. We get the winner of Alcoa vs. Stone tomorrow at 5. Big Mo's dad
  6. In the 2nd game of our district tourney we finally managed to get the Alcoa monkey off our back with an 8 inning 8-5 victory! It was an error filled game by both teams. We jumped out to 4-0 lead but Alcoa came back to eventually lead 5-4. We managed to tie things up and push it to an extra frame where we were able to score 3 more runs. Alex Aycock came up with a big line drive to score 2 runs and we tacked on another. Mica Gaines shut the Tornadoes down (with some help from Big Mo) to end the game. We will see if we can tame CAK for the 3rd time in a row tomorrow to get the the final game. GREAT job girls!
  7. With our starting pitcher out for a few games it took the wind out of all our sails. Samantha has done a great job by stepping in and giving her best but we know that we are going to be giving up runs to good hitting teams. We are very shallow at pitcher and have known this could happen. I am sure the girls will keep trying and we will hope for the best. Our bats have to come alive to have any hope of salvaging a winning record.
  8. Well since you asked. We have been playing pretty uninspired ball of late. We faced Gibbs Thursday in the first game of the Maryville Tourney and suffered defeat 11-2. Gibbs was able to hit the ball well off of our back up pitcher and our defense made some poor decisions at times. Gibbs pitcher did a great job of hitting her spots and changing speeds to keep our gals off balance. Big Mo has been in a mini slump but managed 1 for 3 and is still hitting over .500 for the year and doing well (thanks for asking). Hopefully our pitcher (Gaines) will be healed up soon and we can show a little more of who we really are. Oh, and congrats to Gibb's Foster for hitting the cycle (4 for 4 with a single, double, triple and homer).

    Kingston vs CAK

Another great extra frame game tonight! CAK came to Kingston the division leader and tried to get another game up but came up short. CAK jumped out ahead to a 2 run lead but this was erased by a 2 run double by Big Mo. A couple of innings later Big Mo put Kingston on top with a 2 run dinger. Kingston held the lead until late in the game when CAK was able to tie thing up. Kingston could not take advantage of home field though and we went to extras. Both teams had a chance to take command but couldn't get it done due to some stiff defense and pitching. Finally in the bottom of the 10th Kingston advanced the runner from 2nd to 3rd and Big Mo came through with a game winning rip to the left side ending the game at 5-4. Plese pitched a great game for CAK and Samantha Aycock came in relief for Kingston and really stepped up. Lots of great defense and a few errors made for a very exciting game to watch!!! Big Mo's dad!
  10. Congrats Lindsey! Kingston has the highest respect for your talent.
  11. Kingston was able to bring home the Gold this weekend in Rockwood! There were some really good games this weekend especially the championship game between Coalfield and Kingston. Kingston advanced to the final game with a victory over Midway while Coalfield edged Rhea County 1-0 to get there. Fadnek showed her skill on the mound by holding a good hitting Kingston team to just 3 or 4 hits. Gaines was solid for Kingston and her defense made some great plays to snuff out any threats. Both teams had a chance to score in regulation but both defenses made big plays at the right times. It took a couple of extra innings before Kingston's Kat Butler laid down a bunt that caught Coalfield moving to cover and the ball snuck through to score Sydney Spurgeon for the win. The team really came together for this one! (P.S. Big Mo herself was 2 for 3 against Miss Fadneck .) Big Mo's dad!
  12. Congrats to the girls!!! Kingston tried to put 'em down in pool play but couldn't get it done. We lost to Sequatchie in the 5:30 game.
  13. If anyone know the schedule for the Rockwood tourny on April 6-7, please post. Thanks.
  14. If you do you need to see the Kingston Lady Jackets in action. In 3 games these girls are racking up some big numbers. Better than half of the starters have homers and a couple with double dinger games. Mossing and Wicks have both had a 2 homer game and we have seen at least one grand slam. We haven't seen the best pitching yet but what a great start to the season. We will get a challenge next weekend in Dayton so come see us.
  15. My husband is correct - I keep just about anything you would want in stats. My concern is that how others are marking a hit, error and fielder's choice. Some schools may have inflated numbers, not intentional of course. And, thank you to all the parents that step up and do this job, 'cause the task doesn't end at the ball field. The specific numbers I figure are batting average, slugging percentage, on base percentage and fielding percent. I also determine the ERA for our pitchers. I break down all parts of the season - however, pre-season scrimmages are never totaled in with any of the other numbers. I created an excel spreadsheet that does everything including figure our teams wining percentage.
  16. My wife is a statistician by trade and keeps stats on everything. I will get her to reply. I am pretty sure she can break it out into a million different variables. Last year we had it for regular season, district games and post season. -Robbie
  17. Kingston Lady Jackets are going to have a strong team this year.
  18. Morgan Snow, Roane County High School - she has been doing a good job for Kingston. She is all the things mentioned above. And since I'm proud, I'll tell you this is her mom commenting.
  19. Our travel team plans have taken a bad turn and we are looking for a team. DD hit .400 for the high school season and is a competent defender, either at catcher, 1b or out field. Looking for a quality 1a team in middle to east TN who can help the girl grow into her potential. 865-804-5230 or snowmanfamily@comcast.net

    D1AA

Wound up 5-1 with us on the short side. Are you gonna have hot dogs ready for us Saturday? Can we stay at your place Friday night? It is a long drive.
  21. Great player at Kingston in D4AA short stop, Lindsey Stickrod. Nice story by John Shearer for Prep Xtra. http://www.knoxnews....ton-over-alcoa/
  22. We will be at the Gibbs tournament this weekend. Thank you everyone for concerns over Mica. She torn some cartiliage from the ribs due to the impact near her sternum, but she is working through it. We are a very young team, mostly freshman and sophmores, and one senior. Thank you again. We look forward to an exciting season, and our prayers are that every girl stays healthy and safe.
  23. Eastman Tournament this weekend was exciting. Out of 40 team Kingston Yellow Jackets lost one game in pool play against Grainger County, but never let up with a #9 seed in the top 16. Then going on to the Elite Eight. Mica Gaines and supporting cast took out #1 seed Seymour with a 2-1 win in elimination game 2, and Seymour had not allowed any runs till facing the Jackets. Then Jackets faced #2 seed Unicoi. Mica took a line drive in the gut and was down for a few minutes in inning three, but got back up and finished the game. Mica Gaines and slap hitter/center fielder Sydney Spurgeon both were awarded All Tournament for Kingston. Look forward to post season in DI-AA.
  24. Kingston Yellow Jackets from Roane County played hard with only a 6-4 loss. Pitcher Mica Gaines and Center Fielder Sidney Spurgeon got All Tournament. Coach Ronnie Ladd and his Kingston Lady Yellow Jackets are working hard to see Unicoi again at State.
