  1. Maybe some believe that Prayer should emminate in every part of one's life, even public events. Or maybe thats not the way to look at it. Maybe we think about it.
  2. Club/Travel Forum, Play4keeps and another forum concerning Travel that has a number of sports, volleyball being one of them. There is also on the Webb many Webb sites concerning many companies which have Club Organizations in Tennessee in addition to many College/Universities which have some clinics, weeks of instruction, etc. Play4keeps has all of that info and can do so by asking on Club/Travel Forum.
  3. It has been known for some time that this could happen but no details. Blackman has a close connection with Rutherford Juniors and every High School has qualified players waiting to play (athletes). There is a small crosssover from basketball as skills there are enhanced by Volleyball. There is a large, very large, volleyball community in the BORO. There are graduated players who have coached or are coaching in the city. On a given weekend, a volleyball clinic(quality) can draw as many as 120-140 interested people. JV High School tournament draw schools from all over the State. How all of this happens is interesting. There seems to be a need but if someone is just going to form a sattalite and not provide top notch services, they will not last long. The community is too far along and has too much inveswted in the sport to not have to be provided serious tutaledge. Sounds like there will be a crowd. But to make things very clear, rumors circulate just like this one and known meant known rumors. I am unsire what you are asking but I have no contact with anyone nor am I involved with anyone I know that is. You are introducing breaking news if it is true. Club is on another site and maybe they know.
  4. There are certainly other issues which promote Middle School programs in the State. Schools who wind up with great athletic programs in the State find someway to get their programs well covered by the News Organiztions. If a Middle School is undefeated, no matter the sport, it is in the paper and described in detail. Players are given credit as well as coaches. Sometimes it appears that Middle School Coaches or News Organizations who cover those schools do a better job of understanding what motivates players or from a school point of view, know how to market their product that when they get to high school. Foootball, in this State needs very little marketing but every other sport needs a lot of help in marketing. Some of these coaches if not most do an exceptional job.
  5. I can agree with one thing. Its not particularly about religion. Maybe its about regulation that keeps someone from doing what they might think is right. Another thing we can agree on i bet, allowing someone to pray means that everyone might have the same thought regardless of the religion and then how would that be handled. Yes, it would be difficult. Are you saying that IN God We TRUST is wrong on currency? How about Senate and House praying? The unusual thing is this country was built on religious freedom and now it is being disassembled brick by brick. There will be a hard time doing it I would think.
  6. Just how large was that crowd. Peeps everywhere. Remember to get your tickets for 7AAA the rest of the year. Significant year. Football a significant winner
  7. No time to be sad, it is time to be proactive. let your friends know. Don't let your generation sit still. PDH

  9. Except for high School Coaches tp Coach their own players in the 9th 10th a 11th grade. Since there are so many variations of what you are asking and this site does not want to cause anyone to be ineligible, I would suggest you call the TSSAA in Hermitage to get specific information as to what you are trying to accomplish and they will absolutely steer you in the right direction. Volleyball is a very high caliber sport as you know and direcftiosn should be able to be given to meet just about any economic situation that can be found. You will find volleyball help in just about any rural community but it may not meet the caliber of what you are wanting. Try it first and if not your style, reach out a little further and you likely find what you want. No shortage of great teachers of volleyball in E. Tennessee, Middle Tennessee or W. Tennessee. Its a great game, Try it and you'll find your player will love it.
  10. The only age group that it can happen is after a high school player has used up their high school eligability. You will see that in every club in Tennessee I would expect unless there is a club rule. If for some reason a player uses up their HS eligability at age 17 then the next summer their HS coach can coach them. Most all Club coaches seem to be very careful of this rule. The rule that is most overlooked in club is HS coaching, FOLLOWING, their players on the bench especially if they happen to be directors of a club. Small problem but they are not supposed to do it. It does happen in every sport though. Opinion: HS Coaches who will have the interest in following their players in the summer on their own time while against the rules is admirable. Shows the interest in their craft. Some may do it to increast their skills in their craft and IMO should be allowed in the venue. Purely an opinion.
  11. On your TMSSa question for Middle Schools,Look on the TSSAA Home page on the right side at the bottom and you will find about as much information you want to look at and where you might find other information. Also, a lot of clubs have their own rules as far as how many players from one school can be on a team. So the answer to your question, right now, is that there is no rule but under the clubs disgression and that is good because travel arrangements can be worked out by the club.
  12. This is not just a Chattanooga/Bradley County situation but its a State Wide situation and I would bet that if you asked Principals about the situation, they would agree with you. most of the time it has to do with policy and education. Transfeer policies are out of control. It appears to me that when those policies are asked to be enacted, a reason should have to be given and a test be administered to see if the transfering student can pass the academic standards of the school.
  13. Transfer rules have made it that way and its all legal and above board. Planned obsoleence at this time.
  14. Anyway it did bring out some discussion and while it might not should be on this thread and maybe somewhere else on this site, it is an issue that should be thrashed out someway.
  15. You are right. Jobs and the economy and growth. Its in your hands
  16. Young people have little fear of what can and will happen in life and why should they. To walk around fearful of entering into new endeavors is not to enjoy what God has given you. Just live your life to the fullest and put your trust in the Lord and realize that none of us realize when our time will come. Only be ready and live your life as this might be the last day at all times. And understand what you accomplish in life will follow you and you and the remembrance of your family and friends. Sorry all of this happened but there must be some great remembrances.
  17. Stopped by, read these posts and already had read the Tennessee ACT article an hour earlier. Rather embarassed and all in the State should be also. One thing stood out, "7% of Black Students were college ready to ATC graduate." The second thing that stood out was "private schools are not under the same mandate at publics to test 100% for ACT ready. Why? Baylor is a very good school and this discussion likely should not be on this site. Embarasses both sides. The transfer was totally legal and it looks as if that is the only thing that matters. Things must be tough in recruiting these days too. Reminds me of a story out of the Tennessean which could be pertinent and maybe not. Concerned a 300 ld lineman from a small school who transfered to a Private school, finally had to transfer back out of the Private to a Public just to graduate, Don't remember the details in between but he did make it to a State University but not sure he ever played. Wierd things happen but its all right. He got a great education but did he?. That one was for football but its all right. Its legal and he got what he wanted finally. See nothing wrong with this except the story has not been totally told. Maybe the poster is just a little early in posting. Maybe he should wait to see if the kids goes to college and where they go.
  18. Hate to tell you this but you left one of the 7AAA horses off the list. Maybe you'll remember it.
  19. Brat, need some of that reminising every so often. Good to hear from you
  20. If you can just imagine, with all of the coaches involved, to coach a sport that many matches and that many years and that many hours and go thru the many issues they have had to go thru makes you know that this was a labor of love and respect for all of the players and schools and communities they were a part of. This is a group whose record may never be passed.
  21. While I am not sure of the number of wins of many of these coaches, there were two who retired lately in East Tennessee. Dennis Ray had 617 I believe and someone else had over 800 in upper East Tennessee. Wins are important and a guide but what is equally important is the number of years. Coaches sometimes don't want to think about years but longivity tells something about the love of the sport. Barbara Campbell, the bubble gum chewing head coach of Brentwood High School, Jinx Cockerham head coach at Father Ryan are true Legends but both have been going to retire fot the last 10 years but like Coach Neely, are so much a part of the Sport in the State it would be a loss to not be able to see them. The same goes for many thru the State who have promoted the sport like Tracey Berry who made it a full time job in starting Clubs and coaching. She's to young to retire but has a lot of wins. There are others. Someone has the numbers. There is another coach in Middle Tennessee who coached at Nashville Overton who has retired lately that spent a lot of time in the sport along with Campbell and Cockerham but the name escapes me. This is a very good subject and to recognize all of these great coaches for their time and wins is deserving.
  22. I would suggest that if the committee that the TSSAA has on injuries and is stationed in East Tennessee could be interviewed as to what the committee investigates, it might bring out what they are investigating and why. If I were on the committee and an investigative reporter came and asked me about a number of specific items, it would throw up privacy act violations from every angle. But as has been done in other states, if stats can be gotten some way that would not intimidate schools, coaches, etc., the Tennessean might get a little of what they want. There should be an agreeable way to start getting some results only if it is the most minute information. How difficult this is, a player died I believe in practice this year in the State, an article was written on it one time saying it happened but no follow up was written. The Committee likely looked in to the situation and likely filed it somewhere but maybe it will show up at the end of the season. Legal and Privacy likely stopped them. CoachT has allowed some generic articles be done on at least 4 different ocassions on Sports Injuries of Females in which the subject was allowed, it was determined ACL was a common problem along with some others and a number of Trainers, Phycisions, Injury specialists came to the site and explained the reason for commonality, gave some recent articles which could be read as to prevention and the thread went on for a period of time. Even players who had operations, came on the site and explained how psychology played a major factor in getting back of track from an injury so its not like just making people sensitive has not helped injuries however no stats show up. Pointing out casually that a school has 6 players sitting on the end of a bench with crutches has corrected some things and therapists posting exercises for prevention has helped a lot but if a school starts having a lot of injuries, coaches seem to immediately find a way for corrective action. Coaches, in Tennessee, are very sensitive about injuries because the Sports are so competitive. What seems to bug them a lot are special situations of a player cramping up a lot and anythig they try does not help, fibermyolgia{spelling). There are therapists that can help take care of the situation for either boys or girls Still there is no stats unless they are unofficial. Policy on heat with detail no stats, Policy on concussion but with detail, no stats. Articles on ACLs and prevention but still no stats. But all, it seems have gotten better. But who would have thought girls soccer might be a major cause of girls concussions, but explained away due to girls not being taught enough early of the importance of using hands arms and feet to protect oneself. And Tennessean, your investigation is very idealistic but your approach may be 180 degrees wrong IMO. The Story is prevention of injuries and find some well known coaches who coach the sports and how they prevent injuries. Thats what is needed instead of trying to chase a law suit fixing to happen. If that happens that is one that will be easy to find. Caution is what is needed and explained. Continually, Continually too many young parents, getting their kids boys and girls into athletics without some caution. And as they get larger and the game gets more intense, other reminders. Thats the Story.
  23. The issue concerning concussions is a legitimate issue in all sports, high schools boys and girls. I would doubt that very many will respond to the Tennesseans request. May concussions may have started out primarily with something else being wrong and wound up the way it wound up. Many blame it on a number of reasons but the major ones I have read is athletes, young athletes, are not and have not been taught to protect themselves with their hands and by moving their feet. Yes I have seen many, the worst lately bing a guard that plays at Riverdale, Petty, who at a State tournament finals in Basketball ran head on mid court with a player from memphis Central and there was no doubt she got a concussion. She was taken to the hospital. In all cases, the scarey thing is this, players get concussions and the thing that happens, they try to shake it off and continue to play. Thats not the way it works. I have read many things and surveys made from a lot of states and it has surprised me that with all of the commotion made by the State, no stats have ever been published about who, when, sport, etc. I don't feel good about that because when that happens, just how valid is just saying be careful. I have seen stats from North Carolina, Missouri, Michigan, and read many stats from the internet. The big thing that has been done so far, whether there is a response or not, is that it has made a lot of parents AWARE to know to watch and after the athlete is finished playing and is at home and starts acting strange, do something about it if nothing but take them to a hospital. Listening to some Titan Players on the radio discuss concussions tells me it is an real time problem that could effect someone later in life. AmI an alarmist? Nope.but do I think young parents should be cautioned, you betcha. Do I think that teaching kids to prolect themselves is important? By all means. Do I think to keep a youngster out of the sport a while to recoup, talk to a doctor. Too much has been written and someone else writing, if they don't know what they are writing about, can make a lot uneasy.
  24. The ranks at Hickman now is in the spotlight as Girls Coach and promoter now at Riverdale. Hickman to be a good spot for a next rising coach. Riverdale will not miss a beat and is a program which has a lot of players. Hard to post this, but they will miss Barbee but likely the team will decide they have something to prove with Wild and Barbee leaving at the same time. It might be called stepping up no matter what players show up at Blackman, Smyrna, Oakland and siegel.. 7AAA will still be strong and with more great players. It will be again be the place to be on Tuesday and Friday nights.
  25. IMO,Riverdale will not be adverse to hiring someone again who if opportunities existed would leave the school for another assistant job in a University/DI School. In the past, it is obvious that the coaching ranks at a lot of schools have been full of some of the finest high school coaches. Generations of selectors of those coches are beginning to change and what may be important now is to select them or train others as to what to look for in that area. How well that is done will go a great distance in keeping the coaching talent refurbished.
