  3. Yes, Oak Ridge has lost 2 games from the regular season with one due to sickness on the visiting team which we could never agree a re-schedule date and a cancellation from our senior night opponent due to fall break (not enough players available). I am not sure what the rules say in these situations other than they are just games lost and have no effect on the overall record. It is very frustrating when the lost games could keep two of our senior players from reaching a milestone 100 varsity games. I guess in the end we control our own destiny in the going forward in the playoffs but frustrating none the less.
  4. I thought you were the ref that taught us sideline guys how to call offside from the opposite end of the field, without hesitation
  5. Hey Tenn, don't sweat it. Those of us who have graduated from the certified side line referee school know that knowledge of the rules doesn't matter when you are yelling. It's all about the emotion, not the facts.
  6. Oak Ridge 1 Hardin Valley 0
  7. Germantown played us very tough today. Their keeper kept us at bay in the 1st half with some quality saves. Our left back came up and scored from about 25 yards on a shot that was virtually unstoppable. Gtwon came out strong in the 2nd half and took the game to us for the better part of 10 minutes but were unable to equalize. Our last goal came late on a good play by one of forwards to get past the keeper. A well played game but the heat index did take a toll on both teams in the 2nd half. I was very surprised no water breaks were required.
  8. That is quite surprising. When we left it was 1 nil to ND and they were controlling the game.
  9. Sharkey's was not too bad but I did not realize that Canes had pre-paid for all pizza at Mellow Mushroom. I needed a few brews after the Houston game so I am sorry that I went down Poplar a bit too far.
  10. Thanks for the suggestion Canes , we know better than to go where the team goes.

    Week 3

Finished tied 2 ALL. According to my source is was a well balanced game with both teams playing a physical, fast game. Both had chances to win.
  12. Oak Ridge 2 GPS 2. I hear Bearden 2 Hardin Valley 1

    Week 3

Oak Ridge versus Catholic, originally scheduled for tonight at 7 PM has been cancelled due to sickness impacting the Catholic team.
  15. Actually 0-6-1, tough start for coach Woods. My Eurosports tab says these are 2009 rankings (noted as Mon Sep 6, 10 (20:22) 08/22/10 2009 Final Ranking) not 2010
  16. OTP, you are correct in that both Kentucky teams were quality opponents. As you note above, Greenwood played St. Benedict extremely well last year and played all of the Tennessee teams at the Katie Hunter XIII well. Also Dunbar played in a middle Tennessee tournament last year and played Brentwood Academy and Centennial very tough. We appreciate ALL teams coming to Katie Hunter XIV and for us to have the opportunity to keep the tournament going. This an Oak Ridge tradition in honoring Katie and providing quality soccer. Despite what easttnref may think, this past weekend continued that tradition.

It appears that we will be a barometer for several of the mjuhb ranked teams as we (Oak Ridge) play the AAA #1 (Houston), #4 (Bearden), #8 (Farragut), #15 (Catholic), #18 (Hardin Valley) and #21 (Germantown) teams in addition to #1 D2 AA Baylor. Last year Houston was, by far, the best team we played but we did not play Baylor. Houston looks to have just re-loaded this year.

I guess we will find out how accurate you are during the week of September 13th. We play GPS on the 14th and Baylor on the 19th in Memphis. The Fighting Leprechauns were very good when we played them in an end of pre-season scrimmage on the 19th of August. I know Baylor is a perennial power and GPS has been very good each of the last 3 years we have played them...so ALL will be tough games.
  20. Oak Ridge has 3 games; Friday vs Houston Saturday vs Germantown Sunday vs Baylor Collierville only had 2 games listed; Bearden on Friday and Notre Dame on Saturday. Houston has 3 on their website.
  21. Baylor's Schedule is on their website; http://www.baylorschool.org/athletics/teampage.aspx?TeamID=678 9/17 Germantown Tournament vs. Siegel TBD 7:30pm Info 9/18 Germantown Tournament vs. St. George TBD 10:00am Info 9/19 Germantown Tournament vs. Oak Ridge TBD 10:00am Info Collierville's website says they play Notre Dame at 2 PM on Saturday the 18th.
  22. A very accurate assessment including the absence of ghosts. It was an entertaining pre-season game that both teams appeared to play well in. Good luck to our friends at ND.
  23. Canes, if I can be so informal One of the "experiments" that UEFA used in the Europa League (formerly the UEFA Cup) was the use of goal line officials in addition to the normal 3 man crew. Why FIFA did not take this into the world cup is beyond me. It does appear that they understood the issue of missed goals long before the world cup got here. It would be interesting to see what they learned internally from the use of goal line officials. There does appear to be a middle ground between video replay and totally missing a call.
