  1. Cornell forfeit at 113 due to injury. Wrestled w increasing back pain last 3 weeks, discovered wednesday that he has fracture in vertebrae. Doc shut him down. Tough way to end the season.
  2. Given his age and weight class, Tucker Russo was pretty darn impressive, and a heck of a lot of fun to watch. As for D1 dominace, pretty hard to not put Debien on top of the list.
  3. I agree, in many weights the top 2 or 3 D2 were as strong or stronger than the D1 top 2 or 3, but there certainly isn't the depth of quality beyond the medalists. D1 has more kids, certainly the depth gives them more average and better than average wrestlers, while D2 has a talent drop after a few...but not just the top 2...D2 3rd place 106 medalist Cornell beat D1 106 champ Navarro in the semis of the Soddy Invitational earlier this season.
  4. Icing on cake for the refs this weekend. How do you call that?
  5. Amen. It's a real shame that the hard work these boys have done can so quickly be undone by the absolutely horrible and inconsistent refereeing that was on display this eve.
  6. 3 of the worst refs I've ever seen worked the D2 mats this eve.
  7. "...Murphy will major McCallies 106...." Uhhh...I seriously doubt that this will happen. While a healthy Baylor certainly has the talent to beat McCallie again, I do believe it will be a close match, and would not expect bonus points from 106. Not taking anything away from M Murphy, he is a very skilled wrestler, one of the best around, I just do not see a major here.
  8. Any update on the CB 106? Mccallie 106 is my son, and that was a real sad match. My heart goes out to tanner and his parents. He will be in our prayers...
  9. Tucker Russo has turned into a fine young man, and a terror on the mat. I have watched him closely since he was a little tyke, and gets better and bigger every year. The kid loves to scrap. He will be a young wrestler this year, but will win a lot of matches that he won't be favored in. As stated earlier, he'll go somewhere 126-132, wherever they need him. I look forward to watching him wrestle this year, and I'm really glad he's a lot bigger than my son.
  10. How about predictions for D2?...My little guy has hit the weights HARD this summer and is ready to get on the mat at 106 for the EBE.
  11. Coach - I would love to see a count of all the high school wrestlers around Chattanooga that have come through your programs - would be a fine collection of wrestlers. You have certainly had a positive impact on our family - we were fortunate to meet you when our wrestler was just starting out. Hope to have you in the stands in a couple of years when he gets the chance to wrestle for his title.
  12. Can anyone tell me when this years Dixie Duals are? I thought I heard somebody say that they were the same week as AAU big kids state... Who will be the coach for the MS team?
  13. I am not sure which kids from the MS in Chattanooga are going to state, but I would put money on Addison Cornell (75) Michael Murphy (85) and Tucker Russo if he goes @ (80)
