Hubbs is playing great. He has improved over the season and gotten much stronger and aggressive. Watched him play a good Broghton team tonight and he went off. He is playing at a very high level. If he can carry it through to the state he must be in the running for Mr Basketball. If he was Rivals 39 ranked Junior to start the season he has to moved into the top 20 maybe top 10. Gotta see his game to appreciate

Hubbs from DC needs to be in the discussion. Poythress will see a lot of support. I do not think he plays the competion level as the Memphis area teams

Dyer County's Robert Hubbs dazzled the crowd with several electrifying dunks during the game. The talented junior finished the contest with a game-high 32 points and 15 rebounds, while teammate and new DCHS career-scoring leader Fred Yarbrough was equally impressive with 25 points and nine boards. DC won 85-62. Close game until early in the 4th then DC pulled away. Hubbs played very good. . Yarbrough gave him a lot of help. DC has to find someone else to step up. They will need some help at tournament time. Cautherville has a good team and the Monroe kid is good. They could compete in AA in Tennessee. They do not have the size for AAA in TN.

Good hitter will now be average. ( under .250 to 300) Average hitters will be weak. ( .200 at best) Pitchers will dominate and expect a lot of low scoring games. Colleges will have to change the way they scout hitters. Big power hitters will be replaced by small speed guys. The BBCOR bat has no pop. It appears they made too big of a change in the bats.

J Jones 20, J Williams 16, Jones MVP for Southwind. Fred Yarbrough 24 and 12, Hubbs 18 points. If DC wins Yarbrough wins MVP for a great tournament.

DC lead most of the game. Southwind has to much size . If they can get win the region they have a chance for the state. But the region will be tough with Craigmont, Bartlett and RE.

Choctaws move to 16-0 with a 98-80 victory over Choctaw High School of Florida from the Southern Resorts Tournament in Fort Walton Beach Florida. The Choctaws trailed 28-19 at the end of the 1st quarter but 16, 2nd quarter points by Junior Robert Hubbs and John Hudson's 2nd 3 point shot helped to push Dyer County to a 49-35 halftime lead. The Choctaws gave up 11-3 point baskets to the Choctaw Indians who press and play a very similar style to Dyer County. But the Dyer County Choctaws finally wore them down with Robert Hubbs scoring 42 points, (his season high) and John Hudson's 16 points and Jamaal Ahmad's 13 points.

DC wins last night 98-80 at the Gosouth Classic at Fort Walton Beach FL Robert Hubbs went for 42. DC will play Memphis Southwind today a 6pm. Interested to see if they can keep it close. They will be outsized but play hard and have good depth. Too bad it is not closer to West TN to have a big crowd.

Choctaws win 3 straight to take the Queen City Tournament Championship at Kenwood High School in Clarksville Tennessee. After knocking off Northwest and Kenwood, the Choctaws throttled defending Kentucky state Champion Christian County 92-48. The Choctaws (13-0) were 7-13 from the 3 point line and for the second night in a row had 5 players in double figures. Junior guard Robert Hubbs led all scor...es with 23 points, including 5 crowd pleasing dunks. Hubbs had 11 of the team's 32 points in the 3rd quarter when the flood gates opened up. Jamaal Ahmad, for the 2nd night in a row had 16 points, including a monster dunk on a breakaway. John Hudson added 13 points including 3 deep three point shots. Fred Yarbrough scored 12 points before fouling out late in the 3rd quarter and Bubba Bostic chipped in 10 points including 2 -3's from down town. We are exactly where we wanted to be headed into Christmas at 13-0. Our guys are sharing the ball and starting to really trust each other. These past 4 road games we have played our best defense of the season.

Very good this year. If there is year to get through Memphis this has to be it for them. Deep with Juniors and Seniors but they need one good big guy. Agree they should have pushed to schedule Southwind, Craigmont, Melrose, White Station etc this season. If they make it to a home substate game that will be their best shot.

It now looks like DC will not play NE. NW is weak, Kenwood looks to be pretty good, Do not know Christian Co. Seems odd to travel to Clarksville and not play the best team? Wonder who may have backed out NE or DC? Dyer County Boys basketball team will be competing in the Queen City Christmas Tournament in Clarksville, TN. Games and times are as follows: Monday, December 19th-DC vs. Northwest at 6pm Tuesday, December 20th-DC vs. Kenwood at 7:30pm Wednesday, December 21st-DC vs. Christian Co. at 5pm. *All games will be played at Kenwood High School.

Dyer County travels to Clarksville Monday to play Clarksville Northeast. Should be a good matchup both teams are currently unbeaten in AAA. Will NE have the home crowd advantage? Good measuring stick for DC since their district is down. Who wins?

Playing very well. Two good games vs Westview and Memphis Mitchell.

Robert is very good and he is still only a Junior and he may turn out the best. But is not yet equaled Perry Powell in all around player. Agree Robert has more upside and college future.

Dyer County has lost starting RB and QB to injury. Their two best players. Do not see them competing with Ridgeway. Ridgeway basically gets a bye

Flordia head coach Billy Donavan at DC today. UT and Vandy also visted recently.

If only Dyer County could have had 50 less kids and stayed in 13AA. That would have made things much more interesting last year, this year and next year. There would be some great games in the District and Region. DC and Liberty have a little history. DC vs Dyersburg rivalry would be great! Being moved up may have cost them a chance at one or two State championships in men's basketball?

Southwind is out. White Station or Ridgeway will be out Tuesday. Also Melrose plays Central Tuesday so one of will be out. Dyer County has a tough game vs Cordova. Brighton plays Craigmont. Brighton can win this game.

DC is #1 seed and RE is #4 but the game will be close. Have not seen RE but they usually have size and are athletic. DC is better at home but I think they have a couple of guys that are not 100%. They lack size and their defense and rebounding has been poor recently. Allowed Brighton to score 40 pts in 4th qtr last game due to poor defense, poor FT % and bad shot selection. If Hubbs and Williamson can play and be effective DC should win by about 10. If those guys are not 100% RE could win. Brighton should beat Arlington, expect Jax Northside and Munford to lose.

Congrats to DC. 5 Straight District championships. Brighton is a good team. Ricky Foster has a ton of talent. Best player on the floor in that game. Do have to say the officials for that tournament have to be the worst in Tennessee. The short bald official should not be allowed in tournament games. DC will need to play much better defense and shot selection to compete in the region.

Should be a big crowd tonight vs Brighton from DC. Will be interesting to see what DC team shows up on Brighton's home court. Also the officals could be a factor. Two of the three for the DC semi final game were some of the worst. If the game is called by those guys both teams could struggle. Anyone know if Brighton has lost some players? Hubbs should be season MVP. But I have seen DC get left out in the past when coaches vote.

DC will struggle to get out of the region. Just not enough size. Cordova and Craigmont are very good teams. Still think it will be two of these 4 teams advancing Melrose, WS, Central or Southwind. One of the two that advance should win the AAA.

Should come down to DC vs Brighton. DC is slumping and Brighton is improving and will be at home. Think Brighton is playing with more passion at this time. DC has the talent but lacks the passion they had earlier in the season. Who wins 13AAA MVP?
