  1. Just curious, why do you think BHS will have such a large advantage over Columbia?
  2. Kinda curious to see what potential matchups will be in the postseason in the DOD. Anybody have like a previous year's bracket with seeding they'd like to share? Or just a wordy description works too, although pictures are easier to read.
  3. Yep that's the final. Connor McCarty with the game winner in the second half on a bouncy cross that McCallie defenders couldn't clear. I believe BHS's second goal was a direct free kick too.
  4. My bad, you're right. Sorry Bill, haha I do agree that I am a bit harsh. And yes, I agree Ravenwood should be in the rankings, last I heard they lost bad to Brentwood, but it was the first of their season.
  5. This "Bill McCloskey" for some reason updated the rankings with Maryville still at #1, with Christian Brothers at 2, and then Bearden at #3. Heck, Brentwood is at 6 and Hardin Valley is at 9...Bill McCloskey, you have some work to do. Here's my rankings (no disrespect to Maryville, but they should not be number 1 when three teams have defeated them this year and there are several undefeated teams in the same class, AAA) 1) Bearden (undefeated in AAA, and also defeated Bill McCloskey's #1 team Maryville 3-0) 2) Brentwood (undefeated in AAA) 3) Hardin Valley (Also undefeated in AAA, and also defeated Bill McCloskey's #1 team Maryville 2-1, yet happens to be ranked lower than them. They have a few ties more than Brentwood) 4) Hendersonville 5) ECS 6) Maryville 7) McCallie Bill McCloskey, I have you copied and pasted, hence my excess use of your first and last name...but if you see this please change the rankings a bit. At least the top three to the aforementioned teams. Edit: Or just take a look at ESPN FAB 50 rankings or Nscaa http://rise.espn.go.com/boys-soccer/team-rankings/spring-2011-rankings/Spring-2011.aspx?pursuit=BoysSoccer http://www.nscaa.com/hsRes.php?it=2467
  6. Very well said, dins8.
  7. Maryville's defense couldn't contain Bearden's forwards. Most goals came from chaos in Maryville's box, Bearden's specialty. Maryville possessed much longer, but the game isn't won on how long you hold the ball. Bearden's defense was spectacular as well; they did a great job of containing Maryville's potent offense. Although possession was in Maryville's favor, the shot count wasn't. If I remeber correctly it was like (shots/on goal) 21/11 BHS to 15/8 MHS. I must admit Maryville was excellent at passing. It seemed like all they practice is possession (I believe I never saw MHS's defense actually clear the ball, they just passed it), and it's worked off for them against opponents that also like to possess/pass, Bearden just isn't one of those teams.\ http://www.knoxnews.com/news/2011/apr/18/conner-mccarty-stars-bearden-beats-maryville/
  8. Hendersonville also missed a PK in their 2-0 loss to Bearden. An impressive showing of the BHS defense, perhaps there is a new no. 1 in the state?
  9. Well as a devoted Bearden fan, i'm bound to make excuses. So here they are. Adam Wojnar broke his shoulder in the previous game. Both All-State players and senior captains on Bearden's team were out with injury. (Patrick Harmony and Alex Wilkerson) When Bearden beat Hendersonville in the regular season, Wilkerson was the one that scored.
  10. Farragut's red card is on Cody Newby.
  11. There's two, they switch every other game, unless one of them has a bad warm up.
  12. I feel Bearden can still win this one. Seems HVA is on a roll, but they seem very inconsistent. A loss to Karns... followed by victories over West and being the biggest challenge Farragut had the whole year (aside from the Palmetto Cup matches)...which was followed by a loss to Lenior City. Then a very solid postseason play, but victories over Knox Central, Karns, and Oak Ridge aren't very "real" achievements. The loss to Farragut is really the biggest chip, but the loss against Lenior City slowed the roll they were on. I know alot of HVA fans say ".....we've outscored opponents in postseason play 18-2..." but like I said Central, Karns, and Oak Ridge isn't much to brag about. Good luck to both teams, and no offense intended to Central, Karns, and Oak Ridge.
  13. No the starting keeper dislocated his shoulder during warmups, and in the second half one of the star defenders fractured his foot.
  14. No the starting keeper injured his shoulder during warmups, and in the second half one of the star defenders fractured his foot.
  15. Farragut won 2-1 but Bearden was very handicapped. One of the varsity keepers, J. White, is injured from warm ups in the last Farragut game and during warm ups today the starting keeper, W. Noggle, got hit in the eye extremely hard and had to go to the hospital. The JV keeper also had an ankle injury, so S. Yoder, a forward, played keeper. Also, towards the end of the first half All State Midfielder Patrick Harmony was injured and out for the rest of the game. One of the senior starting forwards also was unavailible for the game due to a college related trip. So with a fourth string keeper and without two of our star players (not including Yoder, who is also a prolific scoring forward), the dawgs held them to 2-1. What will happen with our full regular roster.
  16. I have seen both teams play. Sadly, I must admit that Alcoa will have a very hard time scoring on Farragut. 3-0, or 4-0, Farragut with the win.

  18. Shots/shots on goal (Hendersonville/Bearden game, these stats were from the press box) Hendersonville: 16/8 Bearden: 19/12 (not really dominating, I meant something else, my bad for not clarifying) The Hendersonville/Bearden game, I think the possession time was split about 60/40, in Bearden's favor. This was my bad for not clarifying, but I meant that Bearden dominated possession in their most recent games: West, Cordova, and siegel. However, you were right on about Maryville and possession. Possession was all Maryville this game, they passed expertly. Only towards the end of the second half did Bearden maintain possession for a while. Very close game, but Maryville could not score despite their possession (aside from that pk).
  19. I know I won't be able to convince you, but I believe the keeper did not have control of the ball, and it never touched Ben Ferguson's (the Bearden player that scored) hand. If bad calls are the topic, how about the foul called in the box that gave Maryville their only goal from a PK? I admit, Maryville, when they had the ball under control, passed and possessed very well, however that makes no difference in the outcome of the game. Maryville just could not put the ball in the net, without that PK (they had some marvelous oppourtunities, but Bearden keeper Jamie White got big in the box). Bearden had a rough time getting into groove, but when good teams are having a bad game they still find ways to win. I can see another matchup between the two in the future, looking forward to it. Btw the Maryville fans, I noticed, were so puzzled when the Bearden players would just hold it in the corner to waste time in the last few minutes, but the Maryville players were getting called for the foul. Haha, it happened also at the HVA game too. It's just a smart strategy, not very many ways to get around it.
  20. The past Bearden match predictions on these forums I have noticed always have Bearden giving up goals. At 9-0-0 and only three goals scored on the entire season (two by Notre Dame, one by Hardin Valley, which were early season goals) I believe that Maryville cannot score against Bearden. Bearden defeated Hendersonville 1-0, while Maryville was demolished by them 5-1. Bearden's early season defensive wrinkles have been ironed out by now. Bearden doesn't have a flashy offense, but has a possessive midfield and a solid defense. Look for Bearden to dominate possession time and number of shots. I'm going with Bearden winning 2-0 or 3-0.
  21. Bearden defeats Siegel 3-0.
  22. Bearden defeats Cordova 3-0. The score definitley did not reflect Beaden's dominace. When it was 2-0, half of the varsity was subbed out with JV players. Sorry to hear about your keeper, BigG, hope he gets beter.
  23. This year's Farragut team best in TN history? They definitely are in the top tier, but I wouldn't say they are the best until they complete an undefeated (no ties either) season with a state championship.
