  1. Yes sir! Cheatham County hasn't done a 7:00 p.m. home kickoff since they were in the old Region 6-4A playing all of the Metro/Nashville Public Schools (Pearl-Cohn, Stratford, Whites Creek, Maplewood, etc.).
  2. That doesn't change again until after the 2012 season and the 3A cutoff is like in the high 500's I think because I had been told that Alcoa was a school that did not even have 600 kids walking the hallways.
  3. Harpeth would not benefit or be hurt from this decision because they already play Fairview every year as it is right now.
  4. I hope they do allow Fairview to come over to 11-AA 1stdown. If that happens then it will reduce the # of non-district games from 4 to 3 for teams currently in the district. I can already tell you that if it was allowed then this would be the popular opinion throughout the district as well. Cheatham County, Creek Wood, & Camden Central play some brutal non-district games so the addition of a common district foe would do nothing but help those teams. Waverly Central, Montgomery Central, & Stewart County would be the teams that would not benefit from this decision because Fairview is a much better football team than any of the teams that those teams play outside of the district at the current moment.
  5. Stewart County will probably have no trouble in this one. McEwen looked improved this year at the jamboree but they just don't have the overall numbers to compete with a team that has gone to the state playoffs for three straight years. I would predict something along the lines of 28-7 Rebels.
  6. Camden Central had a great football player at the quarterback position last year. That kid is not going to be "easy" to replace. The Lions best overall football player is the linebacker #19 Blackburn. That kid can run and he will hit ya! #41 Devon White is a load and when he gets a head of steam he is hard to bring down. #75 Jordan Murphy will be the best lineman on the field for either team in this one. McKenzie returns a very good football team and playing at home gives them an edge. Last year Camden had to rally late, Gaskin pulled them through in that one, just to squeak by the Rebels at home. This year I have heard great things about the Rebels football team. I'll go with the Rebels at home 28-21. This will be a very entertaining game!
  7. Having said that I look for Fairview to have a very solid season. I think they will defeat East Robertson, Harpeth, East Hickman, Marshall County, & Hickman County. I think that they will lose to Giles County & Page. I think the contests against Lewis County, Spring Hill, & Creek Wood will all be highly contested battles that are decided late. Too close to call! If Fairview can win 1 of these 3 games then I look for them to be a lock for the state playoffs.
  8. The Fairview vs Cheatham scrimmage finished at 3 touchdowns to 2 touchdowns with the starters. The earlier score came from the freshmen. When the starters were in the score was 3 scores to 2 scores. Shaun Montgomery had 2 touchdown runs for the Cubs in that scrimmage. At the end of the scrimmage Fairview's varsity reserves and Cheatham's varsity reserves each scored 1 time. The Cubs scored on a Hussaen Ismail run. I don't know where you are getting that 4-1 informaton from but that is absolutely incorrect!
  9. 7:10 pregame and 7:30 kickoff There will be tailgating on your way into the stadium right under the tent. One of the fathers to a Cubs player always has some good BBQ ready for the home games. If you Smith County folks save our fans a place to sit then we'll be sure to round you up some before the game.
  10. I haven't seen a thread yet where people can post their respective team's game night broadcast for CoachT to post beside the games. All Cheatham County Cubs broadcasts can be heard via the Cheatham County Cubs Football Fan Page. Hope to see everywhere post where their team's broadcasts can be heard over the world wide web because I am sure a lot of people will be coming to CoachT.com to find the broadcasts on Friday night.
  11. Greenbrier beat Franklin-Simpson 7-6 in a very good battle. The Bobcats scored on their opening drive. Thaxton and Eden had some very good runs and Morris looked solid at quarterback. Franklin-Simpson was very athletic (very similar to a Clarksville Area School) and had some slot backs in their double wing/slot offensive attack that could get up and go. They had several big runs but Greenbrier held tough on defense and limited their big plays. It amazes me how both Greenbrier & Jo Byrns always just seem to replace players and yet they both just continue to pound out victories year in and year out. Coach Adkins & Coach Williams both run class programs and each of them always find ways to press the right buttons to get the most out of their players. #78 for Cheatham County is Tanner Owen and he is a senior who will start at offensive/defensive tackle. He is primed to have a big senior season after having major knee surgery 2 years ago and surgery to repair a torn disc in his back earlier this year in February. I thought that Fairview played hard and made several big plays against White House-Heritage though Jbalumni81. Their double slot attack is very unconventional but they are a BIG PLAY type of team. #80 (the slot) took one to the house about 90 yards. I thought that Fairview's defense confused WH-H and forced them into some errors at times. The Patriots defense did find ways to stand tough and limit the damage. If Fairview wants to have a successful season with the likes of Giles, Page, Creek Wood, East Robertson, etc. on their schedule then they know they have to cash in when golden opportunities present themselves. I did not stick around for the East Robertson vs Todd County battle but anyone who did and wants to share the details would be a very useful source here because I am sure many would love to hear more than just the score.
  12. Hey croz6110: Your initial post on this topic had the Owls winning by 10 and then you posted again predicting a 21 point victory. I am wondering has anything changed in recent days that has just caused the prediction to double. If it doubles again the Owls will be 40+ point favorites by th middle of the week. I was hoping to have the Smith County Games Notes posted tonight on the Cheatham County Cubs Football Fan Page however that did not happen so look for them to be posted sometime tomorrow. If the Smith County radio crew is making the trip to Ashland City to broadcast this week there will be rosters, depth charts, and drinks available for them in the press box on Friday night. The pressbox at Mike Jarreau Field is a 2-LEVEL setup. The bottom level will be setup as follows (from left-to-right): Smith County Coaches - Cubs Public Address Announcer - Stadium Clock Operator - Smith County Radio The top level will be setup as follows (from left-to-right): Cheatham County Radio - Smith County Film - Cheatham County Film - Cheatham County Coaches One reason for this is because there are no walls on each level which seperate the coaches any longer and in the past this has been an issue that has caused conflict between opposing coaching staffs so hopefully this setup works and allows each team's coaches to call/spot a game without distraction from others who want to attempt to "steal" play calls. Another reason for this is because it seperates each team's radio broadcasts so that they aren't having to compete with one another in an area that is open and not seperated by walls.
  13. Jo Byrns played very well tonight and completely dominated the jamboree against Cheatham County. I would say that regardless of classification a fan of high school football would be very hard pressed to find a better 1-2 PUNCH at the running back position than what the Red Devils have in their offensive attack this season. There were many instances tonight in which I thought the Cubs defensive "diving tackles" looked sloppy and I still believe this HOWEVER with that said part of that is lack of effort and part of it is also the fact that Brandon Holt & Frankie Traughber are just outstanding football players. I thought that up front the Jo Byrns line dominated the battles. This is why they were able to sustain such long drives. There were a couple of occasions in which the Cubs defense came up with huge stops. They battled to stop the Red Devils inside the 5 YARD LINE on one occasion. On 2 other occasions they forced Adkins to throw interceptions (1 by Mitchell Potts & 1 by Paul Farmer). Offensively Devin Conner hit Thatcher Brinkley deep down the middle of the field for a 25 yard completion but the running attack of Shaun Montgomery & Mitchell Potts was held in check throughout the contest. Jo Byrns will go on to have an excellent season and be a major contender in Class 1A as far as the STATE CHAMPIONSHIP PICTURE is concerned. This jamboree wraps up a very challenging preseason schedule for Cheatham County that within the last 8 days has included tests against Fairview, David Lipscomb, & Jo Byrns. It doesn't get any easier with a season opener with 3A powerhouse Smith County looming next Friday night.

  15. Thanks Antwan! Best Wishes to the Owls in the jamboree tomorrow night against Cookeville. I know the Cubs will have their hands full with Class 1A powerhouse Jo Byrns.
  16. Can someone get me a link to Smith County's roster? I know that a notable number change from #76 to #44 is Logan McKinney and the other numbers are familiar such as: #3: Webb #4: Scurlock #5: Johnston #18: Hackett #22: Wakefield #45: Pinson #47: Nuss I don't know the names that go with #8, #34, #9, or any of the linemen. Any help would be appreciated!
  17. Cheatham County Cubs Football (1991-PRESENT): The Cubs have an overall win/loss record of 99-107 during this period of time. That is an average of 5.2 wins per season and 5.6 losses per season over this time span. The Cubs have qualified for the TSSAA State Playoffs 9 times during this period of time. The Cubs earned 3 trips to the Bellevue Exchange Bowl during 3 of these years. The Cubs have been under the direction of 6 different head football coaches. The Cubs have played at the Class AAA level, at the 4A level, at the 3A level, at the 2A level, & at the Class AA level. If the 1-9 season in 2009 is eliminated then the Cubs are a 98-98 football program over an 18 year period (1991-2008) of time with 9 trips to the TSSAA State Playoffs. Keep in mind that this is under the leadership of 6 different head coaches in those 18 years (averages to a coaching change 1 time per every 3rd year). While these numbers may not seem impressive to many of you I feel that the Cheatham County Cubs Footall Program has definitely gotten the most out of it's players and coaches over the last 2 decades. I am not saying that an average of 5-5 per year is anything "special". What I am saying though is that it's pretty crumby when someone judges an entire football program based off of a single "bad" season.
  18. I am not great at math but knowing you are a Spring Hill fan it isn't like you have any room to talk at all buddy. From 2005-2008 the Cubs were 3-1 against your Raiders last time I checked the record books. Cheatham was 1-9 last year. 1-9 is terrible. There is no question about it! At the same time though why does that 1-9 record have to be "branded" to the Cubs in 2010. Wasn't Spring Hill 0-10 in 2005 and then turned around and made the 2nd Round of the Playoffs in 2006? Ask anyone who has played against the Cubs and they'll be quick to tell you that PHYSICAL is a word that can be used to describe their style of play. I'm sure Spring Hill's players through that 4 YEAR period would tell you the same thing. Just ask them!
  19. The Cubs & Owls both wrapped up their preseason "scrimmage" schedules tonight in Nashville and now they each have jamboree contests on Saturday night. I am hoping that both teams are able to come away from their final dress rehearsal injury free and ready to go when preparations for Week 0 begin on Sunday. The Smith County Game Notes will be posted on the Cheatham County Cubs Football Fan Page on Sunday evening. The broadcast to the Week 0 matchup between the Cubs & the Owls can also be heard on game night by visiting the following website. For those who are planning on making the trip to Ashland City to watch the game you can hear the broadcast on WQSV AM790 so please bring your radios and tune in to hear all of the LIVE action.
  20. Stratton's is only open for 3 more weeks. A piece of Ashland City is definitely going to die when that place closes. It is a landmark for sure.
  21. Every football team is required to have a trainer on site for practices. That trainer is the person in charge of giving a "go" or "no" as far as practices are concerned. This is how it works related to both heat & lightning and how they can both alter practices. If a team was practicing I can assure you it was because that team was given a "go" by their athletic trainer.......not because the coaches don't care about their players and are just concerned about winning! Don't be so quick to judge coaches because while I am sure you are very concerned about the kids health I can also assure you that it's not the coaches who are in charge in these situations. That responsibility falls on the athletic trainers.
  22. Pearl-Cohn is awfully talented this season. Robert Clay, Jeremy Knight, Nick Dance, Nick Hill, & DeAnthony Hall are all very good players. If their offensive line performs better and they get consistent play from the quarterback position then the Firebirds will make a very deep run in the playoffs.

  24. I heard that Maplewood got crushed by Creek Wood
  25. Fairview is a solid team that is going to have a good season. They have good skill position players who can all run. The Yellow Jackets & Cheatham County got some great work in versus one another this past Friday evening. Brandon Adkins, Brandon Holt, & Frankie Traughber are all players who should definitely have a positive impact for the Red Devils this season hustleflow12.
