  1. I have not seen Arlington since the regions were split two seasons ago. I know they like to put it up a lot and have a pretty good running back. Germantown has proven tough to run on and give roll out quarterbacks fits with their quickness on defense. The Red Devils should put up big numbers on offense, so this could be high scoring. My initial thought is Germantown 42, Arlington 13.
  2. We at Germantown know that from experience unfortunately.
  3. Thanks... I have only seen Central play and those points you guys have given up to Pearl-Cohn the last few years always scares me. But I'm sure that is a matchup thing. Central cannot throw the ball much at all, but I really like their size. Just a matter of time before they put it together.
  4. White Station is an enigma. I'm always scared of what they can do. Houston has not been tested much since Germantown. I have a sneaky suspicion the Houston side of the region could be in trouble again.
  5. I like Central in this game. Bad draw for Cordova. I think it will be a low scoring affair with Central coming out on top 19-13.
  6. I just think to sum it Whitehaven doesn’t have great depth and was out coached. When you depend on one back so much you are vulnerable to what happened last nite. Germantown has four good backs and uses them interchangeably. I’d be comfortable with any of them in any situation. Failure to develop depth is a coaching issue period. Germantown lost an All State corner and it was next man up. That’s what’s expected in great programs. Whitehaven puts itself out there as a favorite every game with six power 5 commitments. You should not lose with all the talent they have.
  7. No harm meant but Whitehaven is undisciplined, was very clearly out coached and out schemed again and based on what I saw has some very overrated players. They got the breaks from officials or would have been mercy ruled. I do hope theses two teams meet again though.
  8. The more disciplined team prevailed. No excuses allowed. I really think Whitehaven is not near as good as they’ve been in the past. Period. They were taken to the woodshed by a better team.
  9. Yeah. You are the same guy who thought G'town would win 21-20 vs. Central and it would be "closer than people think." That was not the case. Actually could have been a lot worse than the 28-7. Never a contest from the opening kickoff. The Red Devils feed off this kind of thinking.
  10. I've only seen Whitehaven on tape this year, so it is hard to make a truly educated pick, but here is my opinions: 1.) Based on the number of D-1 prospects and commits on Whitehaven vs. those on Germantown, you would think Whitehaven would be favored. But that can be a double edged sword. Sometimes, that makes for more of a "me" situation than a "team" situation. I know Germantown is a team pulling in the same direction and focused on team goals as they have been for several years now. No doubt which team has more individual talent, but that doesn't always equate to better play. 2.) I think the coaching edge Whitehaven has in most of its games is offset by the staff at Germantown, which doesn't get nearly enough credit for the job it has done. I know Whitehaven coach is a vet and attracts the best players in the city, but Coach Smith has schemed pretty well in this game the past two years on offense and Coach Rebstock on defense has put together a stingy defense. 3.) The health of both teams entering a game is a big factor. Germantown needs its shut down corner and the rb they may be missing is a big part of the offense. I know Whitehaven has also had several players missing. Weather could also be a factor. 4.) Special teams. There is no doubt Germantown has the edge in the punting and kicking game and it was a big factor in their win over Whitehaven last season. 5.) In the long run, no matter who wins this game, the path to the state title will probably run through the other's lane again in the playoffs. Memphis 6a is a war and the winner is often battered and bruised. It is hard to beat great teams twice. All that said, I'll make my pick as a fan and go Red Devils 28, Whitehaven 20. And that is no disrespect for Whitehaven and their talent. I know they are a great team.
  11. It is 20 straight. Won last regular seaso game in 2016 vs. Arlington.
  12. Henry County drops to 3 in 5A and Germantown moves up to 4 in 6A
  13. No doubt Central is improved but Whitehaven has been battle tested. Look for Whitehaven to win 26-13
  14. Don’t believe you got that gold ball last year either. Just a region runner up in the end.
  15. Need to get back that region title first.
  16. Whitehaven is like the Kentucky basketball of Memphis football. Best recruiters for sure.
  17. Please explain to me how a team with double digit D1 prospects is 3-2.
  18. Wishful thinking on the part of people who didn't buy in and work hard. They are all gone. A lot smaller staff, but one which has these kids playing like a well-oiled machine. The Red Devils are looking good for the future.
  19. I wouldn't underestimate Germantown's determination. They are still hungry and still feel they owe White Station a little payback from last two seasons. They definitely won't be overconfident, but if they play solid they should come away with another win. G'town by 10.
  20. Okay, I'll cut to the chase for you, Coach10AC. I just watched a team with the best athletes in the city implode. It was ugly. They got out of their element by going away from their normal offense and it cost them with all kinds of penalties — like too many men on the field, substitution issues and motion penalties. Their special teams were abysmal, I mean that rugby punt took way too long. They had to use timeouts three times on G'town punt attempts to stop an uncovered man. As for the weather, they came out in sleeves. I could go on and on. I respect the talent level of the Tigers for sure. Like all well coached teams and good teams, Germantown took advantage of these mistakes and won. It could go either way when these teams play. I'm guessing you are not a REAL coach, but one of those who wishes he were one. Otherwise you wouldn't be talking so much on a fan chat forum.
  21. All I'm hearing is excuses. Not a good look for a guy who uses coach in his handle.
  22. Germantown probably had something to do with HC not playing its best game. The Red Devils also did not play their best game and that was due to the HC group. As far as the strength of schedule for G'town, they had the number one toughest schedule in the state the past two seasons and it really helped this year. Also, Southhaven has had two big upset wins since losing to the Red Devils and Collierville has also turned it around. It was a good game, one of the best I have ever seen. Props to a good HC program.
  23. Not sure the way you have been pulling against Germantown is a sign of respect or a total lack thereof. Your quotes about them being outcoached and that being the difference vs. Henry County sounds like you don't think much of the Red Devils. You guys squeaked by last year and were lucky to escape with a much superior team. I can't wait either.
  24. Actually, the new baseball coach has a very good baseball background (he holds numerous school records for hitting and pitching at his high school) and had offers to play D1, but chose to play college football instead. He also played a summer for Tim Dulin in Memphis, where he was a pitcher/outfielder. It seems like it would be a good situation for OCC because the coach knows what it's like to juggle several sports. I believe the new asst. coach also has a baseball background that is similar. You actually may see more of the football athletes return to baseball. I expect the baseball program to be taken very serious..I'd give it a chance and reserve judgment until I see the results. .
