  1. Will 95.3 have video as well or just audio? Thinking about saving a trip
  2. Congrats on the big win. Makes me feel pretty good about Haywood County this season!
  3. In all fairness, I don't see how anyone can go 4-16 at Haywood.
  4. Let's see if the coach can keep that playbook open and use that talent all season - especially when he gets a lead.
  5. Sorry, Coach Ward's old nemesis is still there for his fourth season.
  6. You know it's going to take a lot to soften up Haywood. They always play with a chip on their shoulder and this may be their best team under Coach Smith. They won't take anyone likely.
  7. Another senior basketball player about to get that D1 football money! See Markeston Douglas
  8. After watching the video, we got off to kind of a slow start, but picked it up later in the second quarter. In a real game, we would probably see a little more activity from Cordero running the ball at quarterback and a little more of the muddle and sweep game which make us so effective. Offensively, we are going to put up a lot of points. Kevion Davis (15) is in his first year and believe me he will be a factor at receiver, but he is an animal on defense. He will be there when the time comes. Defensively, our front seven played solid. The secondary will be fine. Like I said, most teams don't have a qb like Damron, a four year starter. Also, in case you didn't notice, HC has added a few players on both sides of the ball. In a four quarter game midseason, with our return game etc., I believe it would be a tossup. I believe Coach Smith saw what he needed to see. Our schedule is not for a lack of trying. That has been rehashed many times. And yes, scrimmages are hard to come by. You couldn't hold a gun to most coaches in Memphis and West Tennessee to schedule the Tomcats if they didn't have to.
  9. I think the Tomcats will be just fine The secondary most likely won't see another SEC caliber quarterback,
  10. Congrats, Ya'll must be really good because this is a loaded Haywood team.
  11. Doesn't change a thing. Haywood is still the team to beat until someone proves otherwise. Henry County is loaded and everyone knew it would be a tough task. But that is why you play the best, so you can correct and get better. Nice effort!
  12. I believe it was by mutual agreement. They scrimmage every year for the reason you just saw. No one else will participate with them. Also, the two head coaches are very close and clinic together and had played for six straight years at Germantown and HC and were probably tired of beating up on each other. Smith actually held a 4-2 lead I believe.
  13. We reached out to several Alabama, Arkansas and Mississippi powers. Also every school mentioned above... we will probably pick up Oakland next season. Covington and Henry County are the only area teams with a set, imo that would play if they didn't have to. As a side note, most teams in Memphis are aware of how good this team and staff are from their time in Memphis and want no part of the phusicality.
  14. Looks like the final tally was 49-14. Offensively, so many weapons. Defensively, Kaveon Davis is going to be a force to reckon with. We even have kickers. A lot to work on, but scary good.
  15. Filling the schedule has become a big issue.... all those teams have been asked to schedule the Tomcats over the last three years. We want and need competition.
  16. That would be awesome. Bartlett is loaded and has a good coaching staff. I'll try and confirm that
  17. I could provide a list of everyone who declined to play Haywood in a scrimmage, but it is easy to say who would play. Oakland would play, but are already scheduled. Lausanne is in with Briarcrest this week, but Briarcrest would not play the Tomcats. Covington and Henry County would play, but for obvious reasons that won't happen. The most common reason heard is the physicality Haywood plays with and fear of injury. It seems that the Tomcats are being blacklisted from a scrimmage. So looks like if nothing changes they will have have to scrimmage themselves a few times to get ready for Henry County. I have lost a lot of respect for West Tennessee s (especially the big boys in Memphis) the past few years. And there are teams who would be natural to scrimmage with like Ripley and Dyersburg but that won't happen. It's really disgusting.
  18. Every big shot team in Memphis and let's just say West Tennessee has a bunch of coaches who apparently think scrimmages count against their record. And yes he has the stones to play Oakland. Check out who all he played while at Germantown.
  19. Southwind backed out of their scrimmage with Haywood because of a wet field... those Memphis teams. The Tomcats reached out to 14 other teams int he area and were told no. I understand why!
  20. Waiting on a foreign exchange student or a soccer player to walk on. If not, go for two every time!!!
  21. These guys coached together before at Obion County and have remained close over the last decade. Not a lot of coaches on staff but definitely some good ones.
  22. What a pickup in Josh Puckett! Haywood just got even better!
  23. It's early, but there is definitely some good things happening. Definitely no letdown.
