  1. Baylor....Ensworth.....CBHS......BA,,,,,I'm pulling for MUS, but think BA is better.
  2. CBHS hasn't spanked anyone this year, just beat teams. Our defense has been the strong point, but the offense grinds things out. Don't be fooled by numbers, thats a big mistake in H.S. football. Hopefully we will be a healthy as any game we've played tonight. Our last game against St. Benedict we had several starters out, and they just plain want to beat us more than any other team they play. Last week SBA threw 6 int's one for a td, against BGA. I feel the guys are ready for BGA's challenge, i'm sure they will bring it.
  3. I guess this is only news because he was a senior? Lots of these type schools lose boys to grades, and they pack it up and go back to a public school, I should say some do. These schools are hard enough for the kids who come up in private schools, at least MUS and CBHS are tough I know.
  4. Yes, both kickers missed last night. Thats what usually wins these games, lack of mistakes. Wow, did Baked boot that first punt...our guy Salem Smith is a pretty good K returner and that ball just sailed over him. Toby Baker did a fine job running and passing too. I'm glad we don't have to play your team again today, it was a big night for CBHS, and a great show for all.
  5. CBHS 21-14, Wow, great win....MUS played well, great team.
  6. I agree should be a great game, I hope we can hang with MUS. Speaking of sophmores, we also start and play a bunch of them. Our soph and freshman class are very strong, if we have any lineman in two years CBHS will be very tough, IMO. I hope for the best this week, I know it will take a mistake free game to beat them. Get there early friday!
  7. Yes, it is going to be on the "Ya'll vs. Them" game of the week. I think MUS is still the team to beat in the west. We (CBHS) had a tough win last night. Briarcrest is very good, they lost their stud QB at the half with a broken collar bone. It was a crazy game, clock problems at odd times, fight, tough battle. They have a good excuse for this loss, but we will take it. I feel bad for thier QB, he looked very impressive and we didn't stop them in the first half, 20-14 at half........but thats why they play two halves. 21-20 brothers.
  8. SBA's Wilkins brothers are studs....I doub't anyone has the numbers they do....although weak competion.
  9. Yes, they will, as all the teams in the west will.........there are only 4, sba, briarcrest, mus, cbhs. We start our games against each other next week. Right now Briarcrest is 7-0, SBA is 6-1, CBHS is 6-1, and MUS is 5-2. So it remains who is the best, MUS has played S. Panola, and OB, CBHS lost to a good Whitehaven team...and could have beat them. Briarcrest won its game last week against an undefeated Craigmont. And SBA has been killing weak teams. The question is who will be the top 4 in the mid-east, and can we give any of those teams a game......the MidEast is the stronger side by far IMO.
  10. You could predict BA and Mus every year and come out pretty good over the years. They like MUS have depth.
  11. Well, it looks like BA is the team everyone has to go through for a state championship. We (CBHS) are not looking very strong at this point, trouble with scoring, and mistakes. Our defense has played well, although our top LB, left for the clinic after the game last night, hope he is ok. Briarcrest is looking strong at this point, although they havent played strong teams. I'm sure MUS will be just fine, I just hope we can give them a game this year. I havent checked MBA, EA, and the rest of the mid/east yet today. Oh and SBA had a nice little win over Bishop Byrne last night.
  12. The kids name is Long at UGA, his brother is also signed there.
  13. I think BA wins a close game, and I think you guys are the team to beat this year.
  14. As someone from the biggest rival of MUS, I must say they are so well coached its scary. I will be pulling for them again in the S.P. game. I think it helps all the teams in our league. Like someone said......oh to be DOWN, like MUS is supposed to be.......they ain't down much!
  15. Expect more of the same from last year. We scrimmaged them and you guys should have your way with them. They are small and prone to mistakes. Good luck to both teams.
  16. Well CBHS had a tough game last night with a 13-6 win over Melrose. I think Melrose is fairly desent this year, but both teams made many mistakes. The bad news is our freshman rb Ramade Warren, got hurt, hopefully not bad. This kid looks like the real deal......he had 49 yards on 4 carries, I think all between the tackles. We have some work to do....but a win is a win. St. Benedict beat Harding 21-0.....the Wilkins brothers beat Harding 21-0!
  17. Here's a little Memphis area news and top 10, includes all divisions and Ms. and Ar. schools, but has info on the 3 div 2 west schools listed. http://www.commercialappeal.com/news/2010/aug/18/prep-football-preview-2010-the-dandy-dozen/#comments
  18. I have to agree with you at this point, a two time state champ and finishing top 10 in the country give them the top spot. I don't think CBHS's line is their strong point as the guy said, I hear EHS has 2 or 3 D1 guys on the line, we dont. We are small but quick. I think our defense will be very good, and the team could compete with the best in the division. Briarcrest, should be better......good line, I hear a very good and big QB, and one of the fastest wideouts. SBA, will struggle......small, not many kids.....they should be allowed to play D2 small, they have about 60% girls. SBA has two players....the Wilkins, the SR. may be at Vandy next year, and the soph. is a big running back fast and likely will play college ball.
  19. I'm not going to make any bold predictions here in the west, but I believe the CBHS defense will be very strong. I hear Briarcrest is looking really good, and we all know MUS will be strong, but this is the year to TRY and knock them off the perch........saying and doing are two differant things though.
  20. The Soph (Hicks) acl/mcl done for season. The freshman R/B will be a stud. I think you are right about the Q/B situation, although I believe the SR. will be back before we get into the MUS,Briarcrest, SBA games. Same goes for the W/R, with the exception that he will be greatly missed.
