  1. I find myself extremely confused reading your post. You seem to be either badly misinformed or you talk out of both sides of your mouth. The first (negative) thing you mention here is "politics." So let's address this first. When speaking of such subjects, (if you actually want to be taken seriously) it would serve you better to talk with specifics when making these accusations ...especially given you are afforded this opportunity while hiding behind some disguise or login name. So, here are some particulars you should include in order not to be labeled as a fraud. 1.) who holds such political power over our football program? 2.) what behind the scenes decisions have they made with Coach Counce, Coach Harrison, or Coach Summers? 3.) what players are being played ahead of others due to this person/persons "political pull?" 4.) what player/players are being held out in favor of this player who has the "political pull" on his side? 5.) when speaking of "many fans growing weary"...what evidence do you have to substantiate this claim? Now...on to you "not really caring much about this team" yet suggesting that "most of these young men are grade A students and athletes"....I ask you now to define your idea of; A.) support B.) team C.) drama D.) weary I ask you to define these because after reading this initial post, you leave me very confused about what I have always understood these words to mean by their definition. Lastly, might I offer you my sincerest gratitude for not positing in the past... But rather only reading in the past because your post leaves me very confused and misguided. It could leave those "not as close to the program" the feeling that hardwork, talent, discipline, trust, commitment, team building, accountability, high academic standards, community involvement, and athletic excellence and NOT the pillars and foundation that OUR program is built on. Thankfully, I'm close enough to the program that I know differently...and if anyone else has questions regarding this person's post, (and the fiction he has presented) I would ask that you address it would someone of substance rather than blogging about it for every other fan in the state to read and wonder..! Go Big Red!
  2. Well...it's pretty east know to figure....Region 7-5A will take on Region 8-5A in the 1st Round. Out of our region, Henry Co. And Centennial will host while Brentwood and the winner of Rossview/Northeast game will travel (I'm guessing it's Northeast). Looking like that winner (Rossview/Northeast) will travel to Brighton (their 1), Brentwood will travel to Munford (maybe their #2), then there are 3 teams for the final 2 spots in Region 8. Kirby, Southwind, and Memphis Central. HOWEVER...Munford plays Central and could fall further with a loss to the Warriors...causing them to travel week 1. And Southwind plays Kirby to close out the regular season. Kirby, Southwind, and Central are all 4-2 in region play. After what I saw last night, I like Brentwood's chances of going to Tipton County and coming home with a win. This, depending on next week's outcome, setting up a Round 2 rematch with either Henry Co. Or Centennial if of course both teams survive their 1st round games....
  3. It appeared that the medical staff treated the receiver for a cramp following that big hit on the far side.....
  4. The above post was substantiated last night by the Bruins' attendance. I've never been as disappointed in a visiting team's crowd than I was last night!! Boo Brentwood!! That's a good football team that deserves better support than what your community showed them! Simply stunning .....
  5. 1.) Arlington 2.) Bartlett 3.) Briarcrest 4.) Brighton 5.) CBHS 6.) Collierville 7.) Cordova 8.) Dyersburg 9.) USJ 10.) Germantown 11.) Houston 12.) Catholic 13.) Manassas 14.) Melrose 15.) MUS 16.) Muscle Shoals, AL 17.) Overton 18.) Oakhaven 19.) Millington 20.) Covington 21.) Raleigh Egypt 22.) St. George 23.) Hernando, MS 24.) Kingsbury 25.) BTW 26.) Trezevant 27.) Hamilton 28.) Southwind 29.) Da'Haven
  6. The answer is 630....sorry it got posted 4 times...and sorry I was so late given the correct answer!
  7. For a team that had just won a district title for the 1 time in FIFTY (50) YEARS....I would think I would be hearing much more excitement and jubilation than complaining about who their "2nd round opponent" might be. Hear's how the postseason works. You focus on the team in front of you, practice and prepare diligently, play the game of your life, and if you win....you look around and see who is left standing Saturday morning. Go luck Lawrence County against Millington! We'll visit again Saturday if things go well!
  8. While it may be a quiet thread this week...it appears that our Cougar bethren have quite an evening planned this coming Friday night in Paris. Including the Cougars' team bus, expect 9 buses full of Team, Band, Fans, and Parents to make their way to Patriot Stadium for this 1st Rounder! Further, be prepared for a physical slugfest between 2 very good football teams. Go Big Red! P.S. Today I learned the capacity of the vistors' section at Patriot Stadium....anyone want to take a stab at how many fans it will accomodate?
  9. Senator....I believe that the Rossview/Central game is the hardest pick on this week's Big One's contest. I simply took the Hawks because of the home field (not that it's hostile) advantage figuring the long, long bus ride to Clarksville for Central will take its toll. Now, if it were an experienced traveling team such as Ridgeway, Whitehaven, or even White Station or Mitchell, I'd probably have gone with the road team given their experience in long rode trips in November. Again, I could be wrong....Central may win by 30. Nonetheless, I've picked Rossview in a squeaker! P.S. A few weeks ago, I had my first visit to Marlow's on Elvis Presley near Whitehaven! I will be returning soon I hope! What grade do you give Marlow's in a BBQ, Rib, Smoked Turkey contest?
  10. Regardless, Henry Co. will be the #2 seed in Quad 4....East or Munford....
  11. This call was correct even tho had the penalty not occurred, it would have been 4th and 25 for Springfield. The fact is, the referee (white hat) called roughing the passer (cough, cough) and after the play was over, there was a dead ball foul against 51 (Springfield) for unsportsmanlike conduct. Therefore, the officials marked off the roughing the passer yardage (which is an automatic 1st down) then marked off the yardage for the unsportsmanlike conduct penalty which moved the ball back to the last play's original line of scrimmage where it became 1st and 10......but I've yet to see the roughing the passer infraction.....
  12. 1. Olive Branch Conquistidors 2. East Mustangs 3. South Panola Tigers 4. MBA Big Red 5. Houston Mustangs 6. St George Gryphons 7. Germantown Red Devils 8. Brentwood Academy Eagles 9. Whitehaven "Da Haven" Tigers (wish I were going to this game!...I stop by Marlowe's for a rib or 2!!)

  14. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yX39J_YyKbs Tomorrow night's speech from Coach Counce to his Patriots!...Who Am I? p.s. "I will write my own praises!"

  16. Haaa!!!...I didn't know about the East/Central game being played last night!!...well..if I can't get credit for the correct picks...I don't guess I can get credit for the incorrect picks!!...enjoy tonight's games an stay dry!! P.S. busy week...I'll try to log on earlier next week!

  19. Did Carter receive any medical attention last night on the sidelines? (I do not know, I wasn't there) Was/Is Indy very physical defensively? Did/Does Carter play any on defense? Of the 53 touches, how many times was Indy making contact with him? (direct/hard contact) Are not all of these questions that must be considered before saying...."53 carries is too many!?" Point being....there's more to consider than the number of times his number is called! Further, If I'm coaching the Yankees....and I drag bunt every time a Yankee is at the plate....and the opposition can't make a play to defend it....guess what....they are getting drag bunted to death until they can stop me.....no different in high school football.... again...don't really understand the uproar....no one was injured....and if like most teams at this level....the player can sub himself out of the game after each play if/when he needs a rest....I know that's how Crabtree's teams are run....I've seen it.....
