  1. Don't you know that Covid does not spread outside or in restaurants or in lunchrooms at schools?
  2. So after the head to head to head (3-way tie), where Cleveland get the total win tiebreaker, you do not continue down the list of tiebreakers? It starts back over and goes head to head? I have not seen a clear explanation of what happens after you break the 3 way tie.
  3. Has anyone figured out the playoff scenarios for this game? From what I have read, if Bearden wins they are the 3 seed. Cleveland is a lock beat HVA and be the 4 seed, which would leave Farragut is out. If Farragut wins, then we have a 3 way tie for 3rd place with a head to head to head scenario with Bearden, Farragut, and Cleveland all with 2 region wins. The next tiebreaker is total wins and Cleveland would have the edge with 6 wins there. My question is, when Cleveland wins the 3 seed out of the 3 way tie (if Farragut wins Friday), do you move down the list of tiebreakers to decide between BHS/FHS, OR does it go back to head to head where Farragut would get the nod? Farragut and Bearden have played the exact same schedule except with FHS playing Beech (6-3) and BHS playing Anderson Co. (4-5) After head to head and total wins, the next tiebreakers are -games played against the greatest number of teams who have won 50% of their games -wins against teams that have won 50% of their games -team whose opponents have earned the most victories -team whose opponents have received fewer defeats -coin flip

  5. No idea right now. His quotes say it was for family medical reasons and that it was his decision, not forced in any way.
  6. Last time I checked, the US still plays the best basketball in the world. I guess I am behind though. What TV channel does European and Australian basketball air anyways?
  7. People come to Bearden to hoop because of the tradition there, as you should know. Only the elite athletes can even think of playing both sports at Bearden. Most 5/6A schools do not have but a handful of football/basketball kids anymore anyways. It is a different time. For example, Maryville used to have half of the team playing both sports but now have only a handful at most playing both these days. I do not need math nor a sitcom to refute your points.
  8. It is a shame when coaches discourage kids from playing a sport. They are only in high school once and should play whatever they want to
  9. That may have been the case in the past, but not recently. -Shamarcus Brown first team all state defensive end 6a and starter in state champ bball team -Roman Robinson 4 year basketball starter and football wideout -Current varsity starter playing football and 4 other basketball players playing football You don’t know of what you speak sir
  10. Elam ending is an interesting fix to fouling or stalling at the end of the game
  11. That may be so, but the obstacles in the way of implementing the shot clock will be difficult to overcome. We can debate the impact of shot clocks or how much fouling/stalling goes on in games, but that does nothing to solve those issues with installing, operating, and paying for shot clocks. Maybe the private schools can pilot it for a year
  12. 1: We barely have enough referees for games and can barely pay them. Teams struggle to get book keepers and clock operators as is. I do not see a way to implement shot clocks in gyms all over the state, train people/referees to run the clock, and pay those people as well. 2: Scenario- team brings the ball up the floor (10 seconds), runs some offense (15 seconds), ball is deflected out of bounds. Side out. That 10 seconds or less on the clock left will lead to bad shots. High school players take enough bad shots already. Scenario- defense knocks the ball out on the baseline with 3 seconds left on the shot clock. Here comes another rushed shot. 3: if you are worried about fouling at the end of the game then take care of business earlier. It is a part of the college and pro game, and they have shot clocks.
  13. That 1% of players who it would help are most likely playing AAU where they have the shot clock. I think the 99% of high school players would not benefit from the shot clock because they would end up developing poor habits offensively and defensively. The discipline and fundamentals that high school coaches try to instill in their programs would be undermined. Offenses would not be as patient and players will take quick, bad shots. Defenses would not have to be as disciplined and focused and would take more risks because they do not have to guard as long. Furthermore, the AAU play style, from what I have seen, is a lot of "hooping" and not much fundamental basketball. There is minimal defense and not much legitimate coaching going on. Kids are scoring at will because there is no help defense or scheme. The best players will move onto college whether there is a shot clock or not. I just think that the pros do not outweigh the cons with this shot clock situation. I have not heard a college coach say, "Man I wish that kid had played with a shot clock in high school. He would have been a better player." Nor have I heard a scout say, "I cannot stand watching high school games in TN because there is no shot clock". Maybe there are benefits to a shot clock that I am missing, but I cannot think of any.
  14. If it will rarely impact a game then that is not worth it. As for your other point of preparing kids for college, less than %1 of kids nationally that play in high school go on to play in college. So why change something that will only complicate things and only benefit less than one percent of players?
  15. A- Clay County AA- Jackson Southside AAA- Greeneville AAAA- Memphis All Stars or Cane Ridge
  16. I find it hard to believe that Stewart's Creek would be the favorite to WIN AAAA. They were 13-11 last year AND Cane Ridge is in their new district. Brandon Miller will have something to say about the Creek even winning their district
  17. Do you have any insight to the situation involving the 2 players who were allegedly caught with marijuana at school? I believe those offenses are zero tolerance and usually leads to a 180 day suspension from that school. Not sure the details on what happened, but both players played last week. That incident may contribute to some of the attitudes toward Lowe and his program
  18. They are not playing in A anymore. They have to play in the Private School Division II-A. Can't pick on those tiny public schools like they used to
  19. I wonder if that stat would be the same if the best players in Knox, Chatt, Tri-Cities, Nashville, Murfreesboro, Clarksville, or Jackson got together to make super teams like they do in Memphis
  20. You think Cane Ridge is that good? Do they have enough pieces around Miller to beat Houston? They have only played 13 games. In addition, CR has only played 3 good teams (Hillsboro, Franklin, and Beech) and all of those games were single digit victories. According to CoachT, Bearden gives up 43.8 ppg and Cane Ridge averages about 75 ppg. As a fan, I am looking forward to that matchup Thursday
  21. The problem with Siegel is they have 4 guys who can get 20 each night. In addition to #14 they have 0, 3, and 11 who can all score and they are better than 2, 3, and 23 for Oak Ridge in my opinion.
  22. Those Siegel seniors have been waiting for this moment. Loads of talent and they finally made it this year. I think they will win a close one in a shootout. Miller is a good player, but I think he feasts on the weak competition in District 3. Green is definitely the better coach, but I think Siegel has more firepower. Should be an exciting matchup
  23. Schneider is twice the player Miller is. Not even a comparison. Miller could barely even get a shot off against Bearden
  24. I guess that DB powerhouse program will have to wait another year to make it to Murfreesboro
