So it has alot to do with the geographical make up of the state and the distance that schools would have to drive to have constant competition. This would make sense because competition breeds success (don't tell that to our liberal buddies though!).

Thats great and all... I don't care if he played at Central, LC, Giles, Hoover, Byrnes, East Hick for the Blind and Deaf. Point was, what was YOUR point!!! Just because you played somewhere does not mean you will be a successful coach. Main point of the original post was to say LC will get better and that Blackman was not that good.

Blackman not that good. LC will get it turned around. Don't worry. I agree, Palmer might be a good DC but his HC record is doo doo (especially at Hazel Green)

Thank you. I was not trying to start anything guys I was genuine when asking about the difference between TN and the states to the south of us (AL, GA most specifically). I know the talent is in this state but it seems like it is too concentrated.

Pepvol... That really does make alot of sense! Thank you for having a true educated opinion on it. Basically if TN would combine Private/Public and even up the playing field it would raise the level of play across the state (this is what im gathering from your post - correct me if I am wrong). Keep in mind I have experienced both AL and TN HS football, in depth, and it seems that the really good, quality players go to the private schools in TN whereas in AL the very successful players still believe in playing for their public school (even though Hoover has become somewhat of a private school in the sense of athletics and successful athletes from across the state go there).

Red Roll, you were correct... Touchy subject. Should not have brought it up. So I am done arguing with ignorance. 1. Athens TRIED to schedule Giles but Giles said no. 2. Who is F5? 3. Speed in Alabama is MUCH better than speed in TN. 4. Saks is a nobody. 5. Why is it that Univ. of Tenn. always recruits out of state? "Why is nobody of significance offering (a certain southern Mid. Tenn. QB from last year) a college scholarship?" "He is the best in the state!" It all explains itself so I really don't have to argue it. I started this post to see what will it take for us to get on the same level as even the North Alabama teams, because once you get down to B'ham/Montgomery/Mobile area they are much better than North Alabama teams.

First of all, cute little smiley faces. Thats... clever... And what does it matter if I have 4 posts or 400? Yes, those are some good teams - not very fast but good none the less. I just get sick of hearing how good Giles is/was. When Athens played that same Giles group from last year in 9th/10th grade Athens had to call off the dogs on them. And WHO THE HECK IS SAKS (surprised they even still have a team!) ?!? Like saying UT played and did well against Western Kentucky!

Trust me, I've been around both. All im going to say. Comparing Giles to the others I mentioned in Alabama would be like comparing SEC with Conference USA. Giles (Conference USA) would not stand a chance against the teams I mentioned in Alabama. Like saying Memphis won Conference USA so now they can compete in the SEC. Not happening.

I understand what you are saying but I just really wish Giles could have played an Athens, Brooks, Deshler, Elkmont this past year to shut up some of the Giles folks. No offense if you are a GC person but the cockiness of that place was bad. Oh wait, im feeling some tightness gripping me in my crotchal region! What is that?!?!
