  1. lol...funny (sarcasm). i enjoy reading what people write and rarely respond to what is said, but what I saw and heard was a coach repeatedly telling his players to forget what the other guys are doing and play your game, but I guess you had a better view than i did. i've gone back and watched every play. central was completely man-handled by alcoa's o-line. to one of your proponents...74 didn't choke anybody, but i guess when a bigger, stronger kid overpowers a weaker one it's easier to say that. whining???? i have watched this kid as a starter since his sophomore year...he's strong and intense and finishes blocks, not dirty, but whatever excuse you need. 69 struggled all night with him. no excuse for walking by number 74 and punching him in the groin (he wasn't kicked) we've seen how powerful alcoa's o-line is and has dominated all season. central has not seen the proficiency and strength 55 and 74 bring each week. too bad for them, but not alcoa's problem. no excuse for intentionally reverting to questionable tactics out of desperation...all night long.
  2. How many did Alcoa give up on defense to Loudon? What about CAK?
  3. Ownby and Loy can get down right mean. Too bad we don't see them on defense a little. Swap those two in and out with Young and qbs would be counting stars. I know there are some Alcoa fans looking forward to seeing "big ole Loy" line up across from Maryville, seeing how he lives in Maryville. I remember him at Sam Houston and MIS. David Hunt graduate I think.
  4. As a team, I have to agree...not sure this is the best as a unit at this point, but definitely has the potential. As far as the number of outstanding athletes in this senior class...no comparison. Alcoa will have several play at the next level.
  5. I heard that Reynolds wasn't allowed to do the Maryville/Alcoa games anymore? Anybody know?
  6. This Alcoa fan doesn't anticipate a walk in the park. I believe, as others, the size, power and numbers will be hard for Webb to overcome, but these boys don't take anything for granted. On another note, many Alcoa fans will be wearing pink to honor the William Blount student that died this week on her way home from school. Most will be wearing Alcoa "pink out" t-shirts from a previous season. Webb, Maryville and Cleveland fans are welcome to participate.
  7. Me, too...WOW!! I think there's a difference between pride and narcissism. I don't know your coach/AD, but from what I've read and heard about him, I think 'humble' is a word I would associate with the man. You would do well to try that.
  8. You'll have to go to Midland for breakfast. Gracie's address is Maryville.
  9. It was never my intention when I started this thread to bash Rankin or imply that I want him gone. On the contrary, I DON'T want him to leave. I have a great deal of respect for this man. I have yet to hear one of the boys say a negative word about him. Yes, they have complained about practice, but never of the man, himself. My son would be hate to lose him as his coach. I have been very discouraged with the number of people who want him to go ahead and leave...are you serious! We didn't make it to state. I know the expectation is to go every year, but that's unrealistic. If anyone talked to Rankin after the game, you would have seen how upset he was for his players. "I hate it for these kids," were his words. I feel like there were some personnel issues in positions all season. Nix is a great DC, but against those big passing teams, imo, there needed to be some adjustments made on the line. There were some big boys that could have been in there to beef up the line. Play some of those boys on both sides. In a game like we had with CAK you got to use everything you have. With Wall as QB, I hope to see Fergusson and Dean utilized more next year. These two are great athletes. For those of you who enjoy basketball, go see Dean. He's the real deal!
  10. Without a doubt, CAK brings back a tough offensive team. Alcoa will bring back many key players, as well. This will be a very large senior class that carries a great deal of talent. It will be good to see #12 Koko return to the field. He was a large asset to lose this season. #3 Turbyfill, # 10 Anthony and #74 Loy will provide the Senior leadership that seemed to be lacking this season. The boys sure didn't like the taste of defeat. It's been awhile for them...but it was good for them, as well. With winning comes losing and how you deal with it what matters. I think it's called the weight room! FD, good luck to you and your boys tomorrow night!
  11. That's what some of the players came home saying today after school. From the dollars they were talking, it would be hard to walk away from that. If it's true, I can't blame the man. A person has to do what's best for his family. I just think the timing could have been a little better. The boys are still feeling quite a sting from Friday, and then to hear the coach is leaving...well, you can imagine how that drives the sting a little deeper.
  12. Someone please tell me it's not true...The Monday after Friday's loss to CAK and Rankin says he's going to Catholic?
  13. Are you serious? Does KennyPowers14 mean you're 14 years old? That's about the age you're acting. Rankin's family is none of your business and slander walks a very thin line. If you have children, which I hope you don't as your level of stupidity should not be passed down, I'm sure you would appreciate privacy into your family's business. I don't think you would have this negativity towards a school's success if there wasn't some bit of jealousy involved.
  14. This is the Alcoa girls' year. The senior girls faced a great deal when they were Freshmen, several serving as starters. Combine their experience with the talent of the juniors, sophomores and a couple of sharp shooting freshmen, it's sure to be a good year for the Lady T's. Of course, this will be no cake walk. There's not a lot of height but smart, tough post players. Alcoa excels with their outside shooting and speed. District 4 is strong...lots of talented players and the season is just getting started. Here's to the 2011-12 season!!
  15. What a game! I think it will take several days to get my voice back. Congrats to CAK. No way will you lose the rest of the way. I look forward to seeing the gold ball come back to our district...makes a huge statement to the competition and talent that reigns our district. I said after last year's CAK vs. Alcoa playoff game that that 14-3 game was truly the state championship game and I believe I witnessed it last night, as well. Tough loss for our boys tonight. There was a lot of hard hitting and, I'm sure, a lot of sore men today. Unless you have won 7 straight championships, one will never know the pressure these boys feel each year. They have faced and heard all season, "What's happened to Alcoa?" Nothing. We are still a great team, with great athletes! Our competition also works hard each year to get better and they have. Hats off to CAK, but hats off to the Alcoa Tornadoes, as well. You've held together and worked hard to make your community proud. Mission accomplished! Good luck next week. Sure hope you take AE down!
  16. I've been looking forward to this game since we left Bledsoe Co. last week. No fear here, from me or the boys. They left Bledsoe Co. feeling like the Alcoa team they know they are. They're ready...they're TOO HYPE!!! Alcoa wins by 7. GO TORNADOES!!!
  17. Back to back to back to back...seriously...you really want to go there. It was great to see the Alcoa boys back to their play! Can't wait for Friday. If it's anything like last year, Friday's game decides state champion! I feel the wind picking up...
  18. Thank you for recognizing this. I think people forget that Alcoa plays competition they don't have to but choose to in order to get better! We could have a better record but our boys want and need to step it up a notch during regular season to prepare for playoffs. Good Luck to both teams. Having battled many injuries this year, I hope you have an injury free game.
  19. Yes, AE did beat Alcoa but it was a fluke and not to be considered as any kind of reference point.
  20. You, me and many others. Turby knows the system and is a smart kid (don't misread this and think I'm saying Oggs is not smart-that's not what I'm saying). The other players have known him a long time and know what to expect with Landon. I think this plays a lot into the chemistry issue that several of us have commented on. Is Peyton sick or hurt? Why have we not seen him?
  21. Call me an optimist but I'm not convinced this season is over. Will it be easy? Not by any means, but not impossible. I do think there is a lack of chemistry and maybe it does happen when someone steps in from outside the program.
  22. #74 Thomas, the Train, Loy...like it!
