  1. I agree bamapappy. Heritage is clearly the class of the District and will ring up the regular season District championship. I don't see them not winning the tournament but it would be a huge upset if they do lose. White House was rising a little but have lost one of their main starters for rules violation. Perhaps the transfer from Heritage will be able to fill that slot, he is about 6'3" after all. District-wide, I have never seen such a poor set of teams. Cheatham-down, harpeth-down, white house-down, westmoreland-down,etc. The Patriots needed that game against Goodpasture. White House will be back up soon but not this year. Same with Cheatham. Happy New Year!
  2. White House will be better in a couple of months. Those early season beat downs provide experience. Something they sorely need. Another bright spot is that the Devils will have a transfer available shortly. Flip the script, he is transferring TO White House FROM Heritage. He is a senior and about 6'4". Maybe he helps 'em out. I was very impressed with the spunk and determination of the Webster kid, a freshman. Although he had to eat leather a couple of times, if he hits a growth spurt- watch out. Seems like it was yesterday that he was the little kid with the flame head gassing the big boys up. His dad is a White House legend and 6'8" maybe. This kid is going to be the real deal. Too bad he transferred from Heritage a couple of years ago. There's my props to the Blue Devil faithful.
  3. Complete guess since I haven't seen Motown play. At home- check, new coach- check. I'll go with Heritage in a close one. 52-48. Motto for the day: Free throws win and lose games.
  4. I wasn't off by much on the score or the analysis. The Blue Devils could not handle the Patriots frontcourt trio and the press was ineffective. Welbourn and Upton handled it with Rippy showing he has some handles as well. The atmosphere was fantastic and the gym was packed. what more could you ask for?
  5. Heritage has a nice combination of size and speed. Neely, Oskin, and Desmarais form a formidable frontcourt that the Devils can't match now with Morgan gone, however they are prone to foul trouble. The Devils have the better shooting. Living and dying by the 3 is a risky proposition. Maybe the new lights, paint, backgrounds will have them off. I predict the Patriots will win by 12 points, say 57-69. Anyone know what the overall record is between these two since they began playing a few years ago. I know White House won a couple, but I believe that Heritage is up overall. Go Patriots!
  6. Let's try this, who are the potential POY's in 9AA?
  7. I did indeed mean that about East Lit. White House wouldn't have had a chance in that game if they didn't play that way. In fact, East played it right along with them and it almost cost them. So, with that in mind, anything is possible regarding 9AA vs. 10AA. But this thread is, or should be, about 9AA. There is plenty of time to debate regional match ups on down the road. Historically though 9AA hasn't had much success against 10AA. Talent disparity is always large and wide each year.
  8. Stall ball is another equalizer. White House almost pulled off over East Lit. back when they were good. hahaha. Final was 13-12 or something like that.
  9. Seems like Heritage is off to a good start. Only lost to Springfield by 1 but was in position to win at the end. Springfield made the play at the end of the game that the Patriots didn't. Nick Demarais looking like potential District and County MVP. White House BDP is disappointing so far. Maybe they can get back on track after Turkey Day. The loss of Morgan is magnifying with each game so far. They will not beat the Patriots if their 3 point shots are not falling early and often.
  10. The White House philosophy of run and gun is a high stakes proposition especially against the more athletic teams from 10AA. There is a train of thought that the way to beat a team is to play the way they do. If this philosophy holds true, then White House is the team from 9AA that could pull off the upset come Regions. Could they do it more than once? I doubt it. Perhaps a team like Heritage could be dangerous. They will have the size to compete, but the question with them has always been, in my opinion, is do they have the confidence? I think they will be a surprise. 10AA will discount them even before the tip off and this may play into the Patriots hands.
  11. looking a little far ahead aint ya? Since you popped your head up, who do you see in the region tourny? You gotta come better than the two sentences above.
  12. Both of the White House schools will be strong this year. Until somebody knocks them off their perch, Cheatham rules the roost. Harpeth and Greenbrier seem much the same to me, although Greenbrier gets the nod. Westmoeland and Sycamore should round out the bottom. Should be a good season with some intense games. The two games in White House should be barnburners. At any rate, before you know it, it will be tip off time!
  13. Where did Douglas wind up playing at? He was terrific in high school.
  14. Everybody can whoop it up about WH's current miserable season, but that's because they beat that #### proper for so many years! Yeah, that means you Macon Co., Portland, Greenbrier, Westmoreland, etc Thanks to those teams for putting Porter in the HOF! hahaha. How's that for mixing it up?
  15. Well, this season is turning out to be like no other during the Jeff Porter era. Speaking of Coach Porter, I hear that he is being inducted into the State High School Football Hall of Fame. What an accomplishment. Even though the Devils are down, and I mean way down, you can look across the field and see a REAL high school football program. One that embodies all that you can imagine when you think of what at a great program looks and acts like. What a great program it has been over the last 3 decades. It is and has been the BDP/Porter way, Of all the games that the Devils and Jackets have had over the \years, which ones were the best and why?
  16. Macon Co. by 3. Game winning FG. Surprise, surprise!
  17. Nice prognostications there Leon. 5-0 so far. You may be the most intelligent swami on here. LOL. Seriously, nice job.
  18. oops. must have been a typo. hahaha. I'll root for the home team, but I still think the Firebirds will take it.
  19. I think the elite speed has the most to do with it. That, and a dip in talent that happens every now and then. Macon and Springfield have gone through the same thing and are on the upswing. Maplewood and Pearl Cohn are gonna be the annual top contenders outside the irregular class of special athletes that any of the schools may have in the future. Portland may be the sleeper in this years group. Macon has a great QB, but can the defense contain or limit SF, PC, and MW. They have fielded some very good offense teams in the past but the D has been their limiting factor. Look at White House, will probably field another defensive team, but don't have another Ricky Ladd or Payne twin and haven't fielded a special QB since Trox Greenwade. So with that being said, it should come down to Springfield, Pearl Cohn, or Maplewood. My pick will be Pearl Cohn and it will be decided in the last game of the regular season (which is being played at PC!). Firebirds wrap it up again.
  20. Very impressive win for the Cubs tonight. Blew White House out from the tip off. The Devils will gain some E from that other than that just best to forget about it and go on. Cheatham celebrates another victory tonight. Douglas was spectacular as usual as well as his running mates. Best of luck to both schools next week. I look for Cheatham to win and get this-White House to pull an upset! WOW! Yes, i said it. I think they will bounce back next week and play like they have been before the debacle tonight. Oh well, that's my three cents worth. Congrats Cubs.
  21. Do you think Douglas will get Mr. Basketball? Has Cheatham ever had one?
