I dont think a batting facility will help Maryville. They need some coaching. If Charlie or Tommy had them it would be a different story. Baseball is about fundamentals, good baseball knowledge and preparation. Some coaches have it and some dont. You dont really think you can blaim it on the lack of a baseball facility, do you?

I have seen these guys play and they are capable of winning the state two years in a row, especially with the juniors. South Doyle may be the only team that can stop them.

South Greene will have no problem against Pigeon Forge, especially if they play like they have in the post season. Wow sounds like someone assumes Greeneville will make it to the state? They may but they have a few games left before that happens. Maybe jinxing them by implying it is a done deal.

Agree good post. He must be a coach. I think he is saying Maryville better play as a team and not individuals in order to keep winning. Especially since the POLLS on Coacht say 95% are picking Bearden to win Maryville has their work cut out for them. Seems like 95% think Maryville's beating Bearden in the district was a fluke. The 5% must be from Maryville. But will they be able to stop White,Sibley and Ware? Bearden should win this one by ~20 as they did against Halls, unless Maryville plays as a unified team. For some reason most don't think Maryville is for real or has a chance. Maryville should be loose since the pressure is on Bearden and it's 3 guards to perform.

I hear 3AAA and 4AAA is loaded with D1 prospects. Some scouts think this may be one of the best groups in sometime. Delmonico leaving early and doing so well in college is amazing. Hopefully his Dad will sign some of these kids and not let them get away like the lefty from Farragut (North Carolina).

Some of the players mentioned in this topic are way "overrated". I wonder if their parents and they are doing the posting? Playing AAU and hyping on this forum does not make a great player. I have seen a few mentioned here play (the so called top 5) and I was frankly disappointed. I think all the hype here can work in reverse. Give me a humble team player any day rather than "one of the best players in East Tennessee?" Food for thought ..........If they were so good they wouldn't have to tell everyone about it. PS The rankings by gomab and unapproved website are a joke too. It is all about AAU and politics.

Get into position? HA What gets me is when refs make a call on the opposite side of the court where they could not possibly have seen it. I say let the coaches give "dings" for seriously bad refs after each game if needed. If they get three in a season by different coaches then ban them for the rest of the season. Otherwise these guys never retire and it becomes a "good old boys club" like the IMAC has become. Who picks these guys and is responsible for their behavior? Maybe they need to start there

So true and well said. Especially when you get to the post season you better have figured out your best 5-7. Also they better have the endurance to play the whole game. Problem is most coaches are not Math teachers

MECANER you are right. The IMAC ref's are known for being one of the most partial groups in the business. They have their favorite teams and East is not one of them. Get used to it, its been that way for years. Coaches should have the ability to ban more than one ref per year. I think some of these IMAC refs get off on fixing games.

Right on.....The coaches that allow this kind of selfish play are part of the problem. If a guy "doesn't see an open man" or can't make a decent pass to an open man , then take him out and let him sit on the bench and maybe then he will figure it out. There is nothing worse then watching a player try to drive against four defenders when one of his teammates is open under the basket or ready to hit an open shot. That kind of player will never make it to the next level and his coach will never make it to the post season. In basketball a great pass is always more impressive then a great shot. When was the last time you saw a coach take someone out for not making a good pass or failing to make a pass. Not often. But they will take a player out for making a foul or missing a shot. Lack of team work is unfortunately really a COACHING PROBLEM. Allowing selfish play is a lack of discipline! I too have observed teams with much less talent put it to teams with more individual talent. That is because basketball is a 5 man sport. This is not just a problem at the high school level. Good coaching makes a major difference in basketball and influences the outcome of the game more than other team sports. Coaches that allow this to go on in the regular season even when winning will see their teams come unraveled in the end.

How good is Douglas supposed to be in basketball? Sounds like the rebels have some big boys in bball too? Are they reloading in basketball as they did in football?

Morristown East has the talent to go all the way. They will providin there is a minimum of coaching errors. I have seen them play a few times this year and they are loaded in players but a little light in coaching and baserunin. That may cost em at this level. Griffin should come up and help them, and the coach. Lets hope he does.

Jeff predicts an easy win at Morristown East by at least 10. You are right Morristown does not play well at home. Jeff loves to play at East. Remember last year? West may be best team in Morristown and healthy Greenville is class of IMAC.

I guess being a guy who has not watched a high school game until last year, makes you an authority on ref's? I have been watching high school ball for many years and I would say the ref's have ruined the game! Think about it they control everything and there is nothing you can do about it. The whole system needs to be overhauled. I am curious ksbovols, why were you away for 20 years and then came back? What are you now in relationship to the game? Are you a ref?
