  1. Well, thats where they go to school and we are talking about Girls higSCHOOL basketball. I don't understand why you people insist on making such a stink over these freshman deciding to attend Central, we have 2 high schools to choose from and evidently these girls chose the right one! What does it matter where they live in McMinn county?
  2. CONGRATULATIONS CHARGERETTES!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We all are so proud of you young ladies!! That was some excitement huh? We all believe you can win State this year so go out there and prove what kind of athletes little ol' Etowah has. And to those who said it couldn't be done..... We love you guys!!!
  3. Isn't 34 free throws in that very same game ALMOST the same advantage?
  4. First of all, I was specifically talking about the Tyner game...Did I make the comment that all of the games we have lost on the road were because of the home court advantage? NO I DID NOT!! I was just stating an opinion about that game, which by the way, since you are" letting everyone make their own opinions from here on out" ... I am entitled to make this opinion. By the way, Thanks for your permission. Second of all, Since this is only the 3rd year out of Johnny Morgans 28 years of coaching the Chargerettes that they have gone undefeated at home....this would imply that we have indeed lost at home, thus not quite the HOME COURT ADVANTAGE that you seem to think Central is famous for. Third of all, Please do not make statements that you do not want to ever hear comments like that again,,,ever. In case you haven't noticed this is a FREE FORUM to express our OPINIONS about anything related to BASKETBALL! Just who do you think you are ? If you don't like the comments made......TOUGH
  5. I was quite dissapointed in the referees last night. #15 should have been kicked out of the game after the 2nd foul. Every time I have seen this girl play, she comes off the bench like she just got her hand slapped in a tag-team wrestling match. She has absolutely no sportsmanship whatsoever. She is nothing but a street brawler looking to hurt anyone who gets within a foot of her. And may God help anyone who should block one of her shots. My daughter played against her during an AAu game when she was in the 8th or 9th grade and I watched her throw our point guard into the bleachers. I have thought for a long time that this girl should be banned from playing basketball or any sport before someone gets seriously hurt.
  6. Thanks for the support Hater...your right Central will be just fine. I have always heard of home court advantage but i never really paid much attention to it until I saw the tyner game last week. I have never seen such a blatant display of favoritism by the refs in a game as I did at this one. I counted 5 over the back fouls that should have been called on tyner alone, not to mention the other kinds of fouls they missed. They were calling every little touch on Central and I think it spooked our girls. They backed off and weren't as aggressive as they can be. Tyner girls were all over us from that point on. I hope that if we play them again in the district that our girls don't carry the memory of that game with them. Don't get me wrong though, Tyner has improved a lot since we played them the first time, but Central girls are still better than they are.
  7. Gotcha! Thanks for the info, I'll definitely look into it.
  8. Thank you so much. By the way, She is looking forward to really improving her game in the following year and is curious about playing AAU. I know its a bit early but, has anyone heard about tryouts for any teams that might be getting together? Also, I have been told about these events called basketball showcases. I think they had one at UTC 2 years ago, has anyone heard about another one?
  9. Thank you for your words of encouragement. I am so passionate about Cami's basketball career because her ultimate goal is to get some form of a scholarship for college. This could be her ticket along with her grades to a better future. But, I have been warned by her to sit back, have fun and keep my mouth shut. Its just so hard when you see them upset, and its not at the amount of playing time, she is harder on herself than anyone about making mistakes and it shows sometimes.
  10. You are correct, Cami did quit the team during the super 16 tourney. I take full responsibility for what happened. After Monday's game, She was very upset with herself and as a mom I lost my temper with her and told her if she couldn't handle the pressure that maybe she shouldn't be playing. Her attitude about the game and the pressure she feels from her family and friends to excel temporarily pushed her over the edge. We had a long talk and I apologized for my rash behavior at seeing her so upset. She loves this game and she loves her coaches and teammates. Her coaches have graciously accepted our apologies and allowed her back on the team depending on her attitude. I can't thank them enough! Cami and I also apologize to the team for letting them down. Maybe she doesn't deserve this second chance, as I am sure some people will say. But, we are all human and make rash decisions. Her mind set now is to be there for the team 100% even if she has to sit out the rest of the year. I hope this puts to rest any rumors that are flying around and remember, she's still just a kid.
  11. I really appreciate your confidence in Chelsea's abilities. I too think that she will be an asset come tournament time as well as regular season games. She already has confidence in that she IS a part of a great ball team. All I am saying is this, being chosen as a starter for this team is a prestige thing, as I am sure it is with all basketball teams. The girls that start have put in the time and effort to receive the honor of having their name called out at the beginning of the game, with the exception of Kylie...she's just that darn good...who wouldn't start her? Coach Morgan has told these girls(as an incentive I'm sure) that he doesn't know who will start from game to game. This keeps the starters on their toes as far as I can see. If you haven't noticed, Chelsea is getting almost as much playing time per quarter as her sister does. So what difference does it make if she starts or not? I'll tell you the difference...It makes it look like Cami has does something to loose her starting position and when Cami doesn't play hard or has a bad attitude then I am sure Coach Morgan will give her a little push by letting her little sister take the jump ball. If you asked Chelsea personally, she would tell you this...I don't really want to start over my sister but if the threat of that makes Cami play hard all of the time then so be it. My two daughters try their very best to support each other but, I know deep down there is a natural rivalry that can benefit both of them if people will keep their comments to themselves about one of them shouldn't be starting. Thats hurtful and destroys morale.
  12. As you can tell from my screen name I am Cami's mom, what you may not know is that I am Chelseas mom too, I just haven't figured out how to change my screen name yet,Ha Ha. I agree wholeheartedly with your analysis of the Freshman at Central, I would just like to know who you think Chelsea should be starting over. Even though she is my daughter, and I would love to see her start, Chelsea needs to pay her dues and mature as a high school player. I have known that the competition between my girls for the 5 position would be entertainment for some people but what people need to realize is that they are sisters first...teammates second. I have stressed that to them from the beginning. They both have their weak points and their strong points. Chelsea is playing good offense and Cami is playing good defense. Together, they make one good basketball player. But, I am a realistic parent and I realize they both need a lot of work to get the attention of any college scout. That is why I chose to send them to Central. I may not like everything the coaches decide(like most parents) but, I do respect their dedication to their players and I know they have my girls best interests at heart. I feel that Kylie truly deserves to start as a freshman due to the fact that she plays hard ALL of the time but the rest of Freshman mentioned are right where they should be, including Chelsea. Getting some serious minutes on the court. I have high hopes for this team and I absolutely love to watch them play...Thanks to all of the girls for your hard work and for finally pulling together as a team. Don't let what people say tear you apart.. GO Chargerettes.
  13. You guys had better watch out for McMinn Central, The incoming Freshman have all been on the McMinn Fire AAu basketball team for the last 5 years. They competed in tournaments all over the state and most of them were in an age division 1 to 2 years older than the starters on the team.. They won almost all of these tourneys and are considered the best in this state. Kylie Lambert will most likely start as a Freshman and will soon be named as Miss Tennessee Basketball in the next 4 years. I predict that McMinn Central will be in the state tournament this year and will win it next year. GO CHARGERETTES!!
  14. Thank you for calling attention to the physicals that are needed for playing these sports. I have a daughter that is 11 years old, she just had spine surgery last January, severe scoloiosis. they had to fuse all but two of her verterbrae and she gets to play basketball again this coming January. She has two steel rods on each side of her spine, but she wants to play ball again more than anything. Although her movement is limited, she's shooting better thant ever. They didn't catch it during a physical, I noticed that her back looked different after she got out of a shower, but if she had had a physical for 6th grade sports they might have seen it earlier. Please have your children checked out befrore they enter ANY kind of sport activity. God Bless.

  16. I am curious about the state records for blocked shots...do they keep up with those? My daughter had 12 in one game for McMinn Central this year... Thats gotta be some kind of record!!! Thanks for any information.
  17. Hi, I am curious as well about where to find state records about blocked shots. My daughter Cami Mccaslin-had 12 in one game for Mcminn Central this year and Rob Bledsoe who also plays for central was in the chattanooga times today for 14 blocked shots in a game which is 1 away from the state record. If anyone knows how to find out please respond...Thanks so much.
