  1. Bowers was 9/11 for about 160 yards last week (not sure of exact numbers) and 2 TD. Ensworth has some good receivers and Bowers can throw when he gets out of the pocket (he has a little trouble seeing over the line). They throw well enough to keep you honest but not as well as last year yet. McCallie always plays Ensworth tough and I suspect this game will be closer than expected.
  2. Sorry, I didn't make myself clear. These students families paid 100% of the tuition and did not recieve any need based financial aid. I made this statement to refute the insinuation that EHS only wins because all thier athletes are getting 100% of the tuition paid by the school and this is an instance where the opposite was true.
  3. No one attends any private school and plays sports without paying a percentage of the tuition based upon independently verified need, and every school has the same rules. There is not a single student not paying something and usually it is a much higher amount than you would suspect.
  4. Just have to jump in here even if it's not directly on the subject. To further support the above facts, last years state championship basketball team had seven players and four starters that began at Ensworth in pre-first grade and they all paid 100% of the tuition. Yes, there are athletes and non-athletes on need based financial aid at Ensworth but it is a much smaller percentage of the total student body than you might think. Thankfully there is need based aid available because it would be a very boring place without it. Oh wait, there already is a place like that, they call it Belle Meade Country Club.
  5. Why was the thread on Dan McGugin the MBA football coach deleted from the D2 board?

  6. There is a sophomore that is transfering to a public school because he can not do the academic work. It is not Corn who is actually doing quite well. Ensworth had tutors available to every student 4 night per week I hear, but some kids don't choose to use them.

I will start as I know about EHS. Returning from the team that finished 2nd in the regular season are 5 (now) Seniors that started and 7 that had a lot of playing time. Four of these Seniors are pitchers (2 Left, 2 Right). There will be 6 (now) Juniors on the team 4 that played significant innings as sophomores. One right handed pitcher who is pretty good. Ensworth lost four seniors who started C, 2B, CF & their best P. All of those should be replaced nicely except for catcher. They will likely start a sophomore at catcher and that will be the biggest weakness. I predict a 2nd or 3rd place finish and they will improve as the season progresses and the catcher matures.

No sure if last year's results are a good predictor for this year. However, it might be a starting point and posters can provide information on how many players are returning from the 2010 Teams. Regular Season East Middle 1. BA 2. EHS 3. MBA 4. Baylor 5. JP II 6. BGA 7. McCallie 8. FR Regular Season West 1. MUS 2. Briarcrest 3. CBHS 4. St. Benedict State Tournament 1. BA 2. MUS 3. CBHS 4. Briarcrest

Just repeating what a coach told me that watched them scrimmage.
  10. Yes, there are a few teams out there that are going to have a tough time run blocking now that they can't get away with chop blocks.

Yes, I guess they didn't have a few thousand left after building the $8 million dollar athletic complex at the middle school and allocating $20 Million for the new Natatorium at the HS.
  12. I would respectfully disagree. Girls have two state championships in Basketball, one in Volleyball, and one in Lacrosse and Ricky was not the coach. Baseball has not done as well but were better last year. Maybe if they can ever get dugouts they night attract some baseball talent to the school. However, i do think everyone forgets that this is only the fourth graduating class. Five gold balls isn't to bad.....

I heard JPII has some pretty good pitching but can't hit or field. BA is always good but don't know anything specific. I would assume MBA and EHS will be above average and I hear that EHS may even have some dugouts this spring. Just a rumor.....
  14. Dingess isn't sure he wants to play football in College. He is still deciding between Furman and Samford for D1-AA or Birmingham Southern and Centre for D3 or just going to TCU and being a student.
  15. Where are you getting your information? Your statement is just not true. There is way more need based financial aid at Ensworth to non-athletes than athletes and the total aid is a lot less than you would think. As an example; on the current boys basketball team out of the top 12 players only three are getting any aid. Oh, and by the way, 7 of the 12 players (and 5 of the top 6) all started Ensworth in Pre-first and 2 others came in 7th grade.
