  1. If your a Ravenwood fan you have got to love the calprep prediction because they also predicted Ridgeway over Ravenwood. Thank you calprep.
  2. Ravenwood does have a nice running game if they need to use it. Dylan Williams rushed for well over 100 yards against a very tough Ridgeway defense. The game before that TC Jennings rushed for 150 on Brentwood's defense. So dont get to comfortable with the fact that Ravenwood is a "passing team". If Oak Ridge comes in thinking pass pass pass they will kill you with the run. Someone said that Oak Ridge will put up 34 on Ravenwood. NO WAY!!! I dont see either team putting up over 24. Ravenwoods defense is a huge reason they are playing in this game. They cause turnovers that help the offense have short fields. I like the fact that this is David vs Goliath type game at least in some peoples eyes. Ravenwood will definately not come in intimidated, they have too many seniors for that to happen. I cant predict a winner but I am looking forward to a great game.
  3. twittycanes will be definately be there!! Go Raptors!!
  4. Very true. I think that what helps your back is that your qb can run as well. That makes defenses play honest. Your fullback takes the defense to the football most of the time. Do they run many counters or misdirection?
  5. One back that comes to mind is Columbia's RB, cant think of his name right now, he is set to go to Alabama. He is very quick & loaded with speed & Ravenwood pretty much totally shut him down. IMO Columbia probably had one of the most athletic teams in our region & they didnt make the playoffs. One reason is coaching & team discipline but they had good size & athletes all over the field. Brentwod Acad. had two backs that were pretty solid & Ravenwood did a nice job of not letting those guys run wild. They did beat us but not because of the backs. Ravenwood had 5-6 turnovers & BA had short fields to score. But I doubt any of the ones I mentioned are as good as your guy. It will definately be a great test for the Raptors tonight. I hate that he was snubbed for Mr. Football. It will be interseting to see how the Raptors attack this potent Ridgeway offense. If Ridgeway turns it over like they did against G'town it could be interseting to see how they handle adversity against a much better Ravenwood team. When I say that I mean that Ravenwood is better than G'town. G'town did not impress me at all. Maybe they had an off night but had a hard time making plays against you guys.
  6. I will have to agree with you on that. I dont see either team putting up 31 unless of course there are tons of turnovers. How tested is the Ridgeway secondary & cover defense? Did they play alot of teams that throw as much & as successful as Ravenwood does? If they are not used to covering teams that go 5 wide & with Jennings scrambling & running abilities it COULD be tough for them to stop. Ravenwood tends to be its own worst enemy at times with untimely turnovers & bad decisions. This should be a good ballgame. Whoever wins this game I hope goes on to win state because the other half of the bracket think they are playing for a state championship tonight at Oak Ridge. Both teams seem to be counting out the west bracket. They need to be brought back down to earth because Ravenwood & Ridgeway are both great contenders to win state.
  7. I will have to agree with you about Ravenwood playing as a team. Obviously they have TC Jennings that is Mr. everything on offense. They have one or two more big name guys that compliment TC very nicely. With that being said, what makes Ravenwood so good is that they are not weak in any one position. Not saying that they are great but each position has a guy that is solid at his position & does his job. They trust each other & know that their teammates will be in position to make plays. They do have a bend but dont break defense sometimes but it seems that someone always comes up with a key play to give the ball back in the hands of TC. IMO if Ridgeway gets one dimensional offensively, i.e running the ball 90% of the time the Raptors will be licking their chops. I see a 20-17 type of game that could go either way. I dont see a blowout nor do I see a high scoring game unless their are a big number of turnovers. Looking forward to a great game. Happy Thanksgiving!
  8. I appreciate that comment walsh634. It just makes me mad that someone would call him out like that. He is a great kid.
  9. I noticed that Ridgeway's record was 12-0-1. Is that correct? A tie? Is Ridgeway a throwing team or a running team? 50-50? Has Ridgeway seen the type of teams that throw it 35-40 times a game? I know that Ridgeway has a great DB that was on the preseason all-state team. How is he playing? What kind of offense does Ridgeway typically run? Looking forward to a great game.
  10. I guess your just upset that Wilkerson didnt play for Brentwood. You know what is funny, you wouldnt be calling him pity case if he came to Brentwood would you? I know for a fact that a well known Brentwood player personally called his cell phone to try to get him to come to Brentwood. Also a Brentwood coach called Lipscomb's coach to give his phone number so that one of Jamies parents would contact him. It sounds like you are the "pity one". Why call out Jamie that way? What the heck did he do to you? Move on!
  11. When there is an offsides by either team the ball is dead immediately.
  12. Hey I have sold a business card order today. So I can afford to play a little.
  13. I agree with you that Coach Smith probably needs to stay put for a while. I hear him on the radio when Ezell wins on 104.5 The Zone & he seems like a rah rah kind of guy. Being a rah rah guy wont get it done at Antioch. They dont have the rah rah type players. While I like Coach Smiths enthusiasm on the radio he probably would get run over by his players at Antioch if he were to get the head job.
  14. In the Tennessean this morning Jeff Lockridge said that Franklins backfield was banged up. I know that Mikrut is hobbled with his ankles too. This has to be a big concern for the Franklin coaching staff. When teams are banged up like Franklin seems to be coaches usually have to come up with different ways to get their best athletes the ball. Ravenwood has to be a little concerned with what Franklin coaches are thinking. So I dont know that you can game plan to Franklins normal offensive game plans. Franklin could have more wrinkles than normal in their game plan against Ravenwood to get their athletes the ball, ie. Campbell. This will be interesting to see how the Franklin coaching staff game plans for the injuries that they have.
  15. I agree with you on the depth issue but if Mikrut is not 100% that will show against a very good Ravenwood defense. They will come at him hard all night & try to knock him on his can. Is Franklin's backup QB capable of moving the offense effectively? From what I understand Ravenwood is pretty healthy going into this game. Franklin seems a little more banged up than Ravenwood does. Does Ravenwood have an advantage because of a hobbled Mikrut? I would say yes. Mikrut is the backbone of the Rebel offense. I know that Campbell will be the most talented player on the field but if they cant get him the ball his talent is not much good.
  16. From what I understand Mikrut is hobbled with his ankle/ankles. This has to be a concern for the Franklin coaches & how they game plan against Ravenwood. If Mikrut cant scramble well then that kinda dampers their play calling doesn't it? Franklin has enough athletes to get the job done but Mikrut is the main reason they go. Who knows his ankle/ankles may be fine & not be a problem for him. All of you that are thinking blowout are not thinking clearly. I dont care how well or bad either team has played to this point, you can count on this being another classic. On another note, I hope Ravenwood took note of how Franklin let the fans stand around the field & not put them behind any fences. This is going to be an overflow crowd & I hope school admistrators will allow the fans to get close to the field. It was not a problem at Franklin as far as the fans getting out of control.
  17. This game is a toss up. Nothing would surprise me as far the scoreboard goes. Either team can win this game. Franklin has its strengths & weaknesses as does Ravenwood. Bottom line on this game is going to be who makes the fewest mistakes. Nobody can say that say that one team is definately better than the other. Both teams have big playmakers. It will be fun to see the chess matches between the coaches & their game plans. I think Ravenwood is pretty healthy & I am not sure about Franklin. Any key players out for Franklin that anyone knows about?
  18. This is an interesting first round matchup. It will be interesting to see if the Bobcats can contain the high powered Raptor offense. Overton's defense is run stop oriented. Ravenwood passes more than they run it so it will be interesting to see if Overton can cover. The Bobacats have also been lighting up the scoreboard on offense. Ravenwood's defense has been flying under the radar & I think they will step up big against Overton. They have caused a lot of turnovers & that helps set up the offense. Ravenwood has been clicking on most all cylinders. Any opinions on this game.
  19. Ravenwood has clinched Region 6-5A.
  20. I happened to be at that game in Franklin County that night. The most impressive thing about that kick was it was pouring rain & the field was very sloppy. If I remember correctly it was the last play of the half.
  21. Glenn McCadams of David Lipscomb has to be at the top of the list. He wins more games with less talent than anyone in the state. His system is second to none. He is a better man than coach as well.
  22. Flatrock Vols - 1979 - City Champions - Right Tackle & Nose Guard
  23. Ravenwood had their way with Smyrna. At least Ravenwood's ones against Smyrna's ones. Ravenwood pretty much took out their ones & goes with their twos & threes & Smyrna makes it a game as far as the scoreboard goes. Really not much of a game. Kinda boring to be honest. Ravenwood is starting to click on all cylinders. I can only imagine what the Raptors defense is going to be like when Becker returns. They have been playing extremely well without him & that is a testiment to the seniors & the leadership of this team. Columbia is up next & I am not sure if Coger will be back in the lineup against the Raptors. Does anyone know if he will play this week?? On a side note: Smyrna will be pretty in the next year or so wth all of the young talent that they have. I was very impressed with Gray & #5, cant remember his name. They will be tough.
  24. I'll agree with your assessment. I just like the fact that being a senior oriented team that they should be able to handle any letdowns. You are definately right on being in unchartered territory. I just hope that they can handle it.
  25. Muffin, I like it when you pick against Ravenwood. You picked Brentwood last week & Ravenwood won so I wish you would retract your prediction & pick Smyrna.
