  1. As a former Milanite now living in Maryville....I will second your recommendation to BRPRO! Outstanding place to live and raise kids! Speaking of garbage service...I had to get ole STARS to take out the garbage as he was leaving my house Sunday night... he and MAMA STARS came over and raided the frig after church!! Oh yeah....i expect to hear a lot of MOVE THEM CHAINS this weekend in Cookeville!! GO BULLDOGS AND GO REBELS!!
  2. Good luck to the Dawgs tomorrow! Wish they were playing at home as I'm back in town for Turkey Day and would have liked to seen them in person this year. Love a game at ole Johnnie Hale! Go get em boys!
  3. Amen! That 2003 team was incredible for Milan. Made me sick when they lost that game to Huntingdon on that bitter cold November night at Paul Ward Stadium. Still feel bad for that team, as I truly believe they were the best team in 2A that year...just not that night, and that what counts. Knowing they would have destroyed Lipscomb the next week...ughhhhhh, makes me sick all over again.
  4. Congrats to DB on a great effort tonight, nothing to hold your head about. Showed a lot of heart. Our defense hung in there...bent but didn't break. Spent a lot of time on the field chasing 6 & 8. They were quick and hard to get a hold of...but we kept them contained for the most part. Congrats to the Rebels on a fine win. Great atmosphere Great fan support Holy cow...what a band!!! Shuler - awesome game...usain bolt couldn't even catch you! 39 - our prayers are with you, hope your injury isn't severe How bout them Rebels!!!
  5. Keep talkin there George...you're good for ratings! Looking forward to tomorrow night...should be an electric atmosphere! This is what high school football is all about. I'm loving that we are getting to play two programs with great tradition in back to back weeks. Last Friday was terrific...I expect the same tomorrow night. Ok, some of these questions may have already been asked/answered in an earlier post, but let's play the numbers game... 1. How many varsity players do you guys dress? 2. How many seniors starters on offense / defense? 3. How many kids are in your band!?! 4. Since you insinuated that our stadium is on the smallish side...how many does yours seat? 5. How many buses are you guys bringing tomorrow!? 6. What time are y'all gettin here...we want to make sure and save you a seat!í ½í±
  6. the coachT stars were out in full force tonight!
  7. We hear it all the time...people think the Rebels are disrespecting their team by not taking a knee when a kid gets hurt. Not that at all, the coaches don't want our players to cramp up by going to a knee. Have had this philosophy for a while now. They don't take a knee when our players get hurt either, so tell her not to take offense. It was kind of funny when she yelled that out...she has some lungs! Hope the kid is okay...we were definitely cheering for him, not her! Congrats to your boys on a great season. I enjoyed watching them play, especially #6 and #52.
  8. Freshman beat catholic 42-21. Catholic put up a good fight in the first half but ran out of gas. Only 18-19 dressed out for the Irish. We had a young man go down after the game with a concussion/head injury, hope he is ok. Ambulance had to come get him....didn't know who his parents were. Scary situation...need to lift up prayers for him.
  9. Yeah, personally I could care less if the other team leaves their 1's in when our 2's and 3's are playing. I actually like the fact that our guys are getting quality game experience against other's starters. We should consider ourselves lucky to be in this position!
  10. I was thinking the same thing about OR's freshman #'s...we counted 25 kids. Very surprised about this. Our freshmen number between 40-45. Last week, we counted 38 on Heritage's sideline. Blade is gonna have a tough road ahead with those kind of numbers, especially with what he loses this year. Can't blame you if you drop down to 5A. I'm gonna miss getting to see #6 play for you guys, he reminds me of Jacob West from last year's Maryville squad.
  11. Maryville's freshmen played a solid game tonight...winning 28-0. "We" controlled the line of scrimmage all night and had no turnovers. First drive of the game was a beauty...very methodical. Was 14-0 at the half, but seemed like a bigger margin. OR never really threatened to score, even on our 2nd and 3rd stringers. A mix of our 1's, 2's and 3's scored 2 TD's in second half...I really like how our coaches rotate kids in/out. I sure hope OR's QB is okay, he was returning a kick (or punt...can't remember) and it looked like his knee buckled during the tackle. Hope it's not an ACL injury...it sure looked like a possiblity. Didn't stay for JV game...had to eat at Big Ed's! Was my second time there and it hit the spot! Good luck to OR the rest of the season.
  12. I hope all goes well for you and your family with the transition. I'm sure you'll take some heat for making the switch, but if you are doing what you think is best for your kids, it's hard to fault a man for that. Look us up in the 30-35 yard section next season, you'll hear us! Welcome to the Rebel Nation!
  13. No kidding...no disrespect for the lower classifications, but 6A is the featured game of the weekend and should command the best guys on the mics. There's no reason Mike Keith shouldn't be doing our game. He must need his beauty rest for the Titans game the next day!
  14. Thank you for the unbiased opinion TS...it's obvious to all that HOWDOITKNOW2 is a Hater! Let's go Dawgs...bring the gold ball back to Milan!
  15. Congrats Bulldogs! Way to pull out the victory...16-14.
  16. Milan just sacked QB in endzone...safety! Now up 16-14 in 4th with 8:50 to go.
  17. He washed and waxed his garbage truck today as well!!!
  18. Yes, it looks bad...but more and more teams are not doing this due to guys cramping up when they squat down like that. Definitely not doing it out of disrespect. They don't do it for anyone, even their own teammates.
  19. WHOOOOOO!!! Ready for some football! I'll give you a shout mid-afternoon... 82 is bringing the pops and has called first series at 4, STARS has gargled salt water and has his voice ready for several KOC first downs. The mafia will be out in full force for this one! Here's to hoping the Rebels are fired up and ready to put the hammer down early and often! Much respect for SC...sound like they have an explosive O and quality coaching.
  20. MHS82 - on the boards...I'll say higher. in the stands...I'll go lower, depending on how hyped up I am on the java! It won't matter though, DAWG JR usually has me beat! I'll probably try to get there around 6:00-6:15. Hard for me to get away from work, get home, then back over to the stadium much quicker than that. I'm guessing the mafia will be out in full force from here on out!
  21. STARS - did you put you on some of that Axe after workin in the yard today? Also, I meant to ask you if that shirt fit MAMASTARS from the other night!? I didn't know the cheerleaders could fire it up that far!
  22. Nice post '82...except for the STARS part! ha, ha! Glad to see you got your hearing back after sitting in front of him at the Farragut game! By the way, are you bringing the TD lollipops tomorrow night? I've got to lay off the TD cookies, my clothes are startin to get a little tight! Also, did you see where they showed the total # of plays for each series in the paper the other day? Thought that was interesting considering that high-dollar wagering we had going at the game!
  23. I'm runnin' to Wal-Mart right now to get me some of that Axe! You may not see me at the game on Friday if it has that kind of effect!!
  24. Jake speaks the truth. I moved from Milan to Maryville last year...and as much as I hate to admit it, there is no comparison. My son played for one of these teams last year and had 7 coaches...none of them with a son on the team. There were more coaches on that team than on his middle school team this year (and probably most high schools!). In Milan, it was me and 2 other dads that coached our team. We won against Humboldt, Huntingdon, USJ and others, only losing once, but they all had mostly dads coaching too. You just can't give the kids the individual attention they need with 2-3 coaches AND dads that move up/out as their son gets older. So, the coaches are always changing and you lose that consistency and ability to build a program. Heck, I was one of the 5-6 guys who helped Milan get it's tackle football program started...just 3 years ago! Until then, it was flag football or go to another town to play.
