  1. I agree with not liking co MVP sets a bad precedent in general and one’s dad is a head coach. Doesnt look good from my view but this is a tight race and a rare occurrence of talent and production in any district much less in 3A district 7. Lol Capps leads his team in almost every category, averages like 31/8/3 and a 3,000 point scorer lol I also agree personally Cobb Is a little better total player but its close at this stage where Cobb is younger. Capps has alot less to work with where several nights Cobb doesnt have to be the leading scorer for them to play well. But terrible and being outraged is prolly a bit much but I like the fire
  2. 2 of 3? And thats still not right I found 6/7 in just a quick search that average 20/10 and several were not nominated. Dont want to negatively speak on players, both guys you mentioned are very good and important to their teams. Ive seen them play and many others this year and I’m sure they got some consideration. Do politics affect these outcomes? We’d prolly agree they do but for this I think many people who watch alot of high level players around the state think a big majority of the ones who earned the finalist nominations were deserving/justified and known for elite play.
  3. Lol Not sure but off the top of my head of kids Ive seen play this year between 6’10-7’: Bennerman at Father Ryan, Solongo at Ensworth, Coles at WHHHS, Rabie at Webb. And many others at 6’8-6’9’’
  4. Agreed. I thought Ensworth might creep up to that tier because when Sanderson was healthy they were starting to click and were very good. But they are just levels worse without him.
  5. Pope had their way with them seemed like 15+ pt lead soon after the tip and just stayed there. Solid team but just lack a bit of talent to be in that top tier with the other 3/4.
  6. Fair enough, I was watching in that time frame of christmas tourneys. If they have improved shot making as you've stated then thats bad news for the other teams in 3A. Lol
  7. No you masquerading midwit (I am one too so don’t be so ashamed) it did not. He stated there was a big difference in film (30 fps, grainy, cheap film we can argue technical limitations with human eye/brain of this said cheap film if you’d like but would be pointless on you) vs in person scouting and I believe also that size, speed and other attributes are hard to gauge and he hasn't seen them in person so his opinion shouldn't be as valued. And yes clearly film is a fine tool but again see previous post as to why in person is necessary to a complete and honest evaluation. You can be a heck of a house buyer only looking at pictures too but most agree to see the lot, touch the brick, walk the darn halls, drive the street etc will give you a much better understanding and analysis.
  8. Ty Cobb and the Bees vs Hume Fogg in the Boro would be awesome and imo the most intriguing possible matchup. Both were early favorites and stayed right through great seasons thus far. Very contrasting styles, HF has elite athleticism and length but can be erratic and struggle to shoot outside of putbacks and fast breaks dunks/layups which they rely on while creating a muddied up slug fest of a game. While Upperman is efficient, probably have several guys that shoot 38%+ from 3, play pretty quick but do try and take good looks, while the already experienced super soph Ty Cobb changes pace and runs the show so darn well (reminds me of a smoother Craig Bradshaw). But they do lack some of the physical credentials the grown men of HF have.
  9. Your counter had lots of question marks would be my takeaway but regardless there is a difference between in person and low quality film these games have. Whether big or little, well theres an argument. I see scouts every night I'm in a gym whether it be a future opponent coaching staff, college scouts or coaches. Heck just one player near me had 3 scouts visit practice this week and I saw Byington, Alexander and Mcdevitt at games recently and they are in heart of their conference schedules… so must be some importance in seeing something in person?
  10. Haha good still a long way to go but Ill be rooting for ‘em
  11. Did you hit the inside wall on turn 3 too hard last night Racerman? Tater town has no chance of a Gold ball. I’ll take wagers
  12. A - Chatt Prep - Clearly AA - Loretto - not much argument couple contenders but they are the fav for now. AAA - Hume-Fogg - so big and athletic but struggle so bad with skill and scoring, several teams (Upperman, JSouthside, Fay Ware, Greenville) that if they take care of the ball and shoot well will beat them AAAA - Whitehaven. Solid pick. But could also see them not getting out of Memphis D2-A - PCA (best team in the state all divisions). Give me the GP cougs! They lose the 1st matchup and then in the 2nd GP puts em out. D2-AA - Ensworth. I still dont see them getting past BC and possibly Pope back to back but Sanderson is an X factor scoring the ball no one else has. Ill take KWebb or Pope. Be careful with location bias. Of 6 picks (not 1A) you favored middle and West. Dont forget dem teams east on I-40 no one gives them much love and many years they take gold balls back to Knoxville or surrounding area.. who knows maybe not this year.
  13. I agree it’s exciting. KWebb, Pope, Ensworth, Briarcrest are a close knit top 4. So talented and anyone can beat the other depends on who plays well. MBA is also solid.
  14. Loretto, Alcoa and brought to my attention pre season by another poster I’ll add Tellico Plains lol
  15. Thats awesome. Lived in Sante fe as kid for a bit lol no matter the level this kind of scoring volume is legit and from what Ive seen the team has been a good as ever because of him. If that wonderful chatt prep didnt exist as a pinnacle of fairness who knows he might have a gold ball as well.
  16. Solid list, 3A will definitely be interesting. Upperman Vs Stone tmrw night I believe should be fun. I see you’re a big HF fan so I gotta ask how you enjoy watching that style of basketball? they are just so bad at the fundamentals Its unbelievable. Given they are one of the most athletic teams in TN and big, but they can barely dribble and chew gum. I watched several streams and its complete chaos of missed 5 footers and trying to put it back in 6x times in a row lol
  17. The old rivalries from years ago are back in region play and definitely something to look forward to. Add in a young LC program and always talented Pearl it should be very fun. I think its reasonable to assume either Springfield or Pearl will represent this well in a champ game appearance before it shakes up again.
  18. Bringing a who the heck knows scrimmage up from years ago haha could have competed I think there was 4-8 teams that beat em. You played 3 big dawgs from out that way last year and went 2-1 with total point diff of -1. Solid. Not discounting Alcoa they are darn good for what it is but to think just because they smack 3A and prolly soon 4A around that they win every class is a joke.. Baylor, Mcallie, CPA are super talented, p4 kids everywhere, big etc last year. I see alot of teams every year and Alcoa has nothing the top 15 or so teams don't. Ask big brother (Maryville) how easy Oakland has been to get past the last 5 years. D2 and certain large pubs are stacking more talent than ever. Yall should be familiar
  19. Look forward to the Jackets next year. Expectation is easily a championship game appearance.
  20. 5th to 15th in whole state last year depending on opinion. So no probably not “any” classification.
  21. What an awesome season! Sweet thing to see everything come together for a program like MC. Tuff, physical team with the Borders twins at the helm. What a performance all playoffs I dont think either one has many decent offers? I watched a boy closely for years from East Rob who has very similar size and athletic ability and he doesn't look half that good in wimpy 2A. And he just signed to Georgia Tech. If he played the gauntlet MC did he wouldn't look half as good, if he survived. Makes ya wonder, either way fun stuff!
  22. Stone Memorial, Upperman, Fayette Ware, MLK, Hume Fogg and others in action tonight to keep an eye on in 3A. The fun begins
