Maryville middle gets to set foot on the new turf for the first time tomorrow night against Webb led by Derrick Dooley's son. Anyone who hasn't seen this team should come out and take a look. Good looking group.IMO

Scotshoops here is what I know to answer your question from the other thread that is now locked about players to watch in Maryville Alcoa freshman game. For Alcoa, the Mcclurges, Clark, Hill and alot of big strong linemen. Maryville, Cardwell, Tillery, Martin , Brock, Yoacum, Tyler S. Would be a huge upset for Maryville to win. Alcoa is loaded.

Guess I'll stop by and watch this one after I watch the nephew play Union Grove tonight. A MJH and WB sweep would make a nice ride home to downtown Sweetwater.

Was at SC vs. WB game. SC looked great and called off the dogs. SC big in this one.

This is killing me but I have to agree with you on this one(man that hurt). He gets the raw end of the deal on the team that IMO tries to hero the other back. Kid gives all he has and like you said his blocking is top notch. Don't know if he gets that return effort when he gets his limited carries. Great team player!

It is hard for me to believe that the TSSAA doesn't have a rule against a ref with kids in that school doing that game. So I guess a teacher or principle who is a TSSAA official on the side can do their own schools game,, PITIFUL!! What would have been a 3 to 7 point victory for us in a hard fought game is turned into a blow out by one drive stopping ref. We would have won anyway but this is not right. I'm sorry this game had to come down to all these hard feelings when it could have been easily avoided. Who ever assigned home town refs is an idiot.

Alcoa QB can throw this year. Hope for lighting and the game to be canceled Greenville.

Was at the game rr. Hard to get a read on a game like that. Sevier Co. was way down from last year and really didn't give us much to measure against. Blackmon and Gauss looked great at rb, Blackmon scored the first time he touched it and Gauss the second. They maybe had 8 total carries and scored on most. Defense gave up nothing at all in first half, maybe one first down on a penalty. Phillips kid had about 65yard int for 6 and Sevier Co. backs rarely got through the D-line. IMO the Young kid will start as a freshman next year at any HS he chooses. Size power and speed big time.

Think you misunderstood what I was saying. Every kid is different. I happen to know Cobb is wanting to play running back and is right at or above 150. So IMO he would have been better off to move up. Yes they can play. They lost a good rb that moved to Texas, Brester I think was the name. Both the starters are solid but they will play both ways.
