Yeah Haywood actually has a good team. They went up and down the field when we played them. Once I heard Milan was only down 28-21 with 9min left, I told everyone I was sitting with Milan would win. Sounds like it was a great game.

Haywood has been winning the whole game from what ive heard. At one point led 21-7. Last I heard Milan had tied it at 28-28 late in the 4th. Any updates from then on??

To be fair, this is only the second year SGC has had a football team. Thats why its a big deal to so many of us in medina. Our middle school team is always a force, at least against the teams they play. Plus, the city is still growing fast and there's great coaching so theres no reason to think they wont be good for years to come. Now im not saying were a "powerhouse" but i think we'll be a good team that consistantly makes the playoffs and wins quite a few games. Im also not saying they wont develope into a powerhouse at some point in the future. I dont think anyone would argue that they have the potintial to become one of the great west tn teams like milan is now.

Milan will win fairly easily. Haywood has some good athletes and i agree if the coaching was there, they would be good. They were all over our defense when we played them.

Im a die hard South Gibson fan, never miss a snap, but I must say this off the wall. We had one of the weakest schedules in 3AA, we beat Milan i, i would not say "handled", though i do think we are plenty cababile of beating them again in the playoffs. I think the east TN teams could be too much for this years sgc team. For us to compete with the better teams, we have to use alot of players on both sides of the ball the whole game. With the medina middle school having one of the best middle school programs i know of its safe to say we will be a good team for a long time, that doesnt mean we'll be 10-0 every year, but we'll compete at a high level. Maybe some year in there we'll find the right group of players and alcoa and cak will come down to earth and win it all. This year Alcoa and CAK ect. could probably beat teams in 5AAA or 6AAA. thats why 3AA is so tough. SGC is having a great year and its a result of great players, great coachs, and lots of hard work. I expect them to make some noise this year in the playoffs. Winning the gold ball this year? id have to say no, but im rooting for them and miracals happen.

They also have probably one of the smallest student pop.s in AA as well. Its no wonder they cant win.

Ripley will upset covington 35-34 and South Gibson will win district!!(sarcasm) ...that doesnt even sound realistic Id look for covington to try and get the starters out as early as possible. Theyll win by as much as they want.

Dyersburg will win easy. Starters may not play second half.

Thats how south gibson beat them. Bend but dont break. I think i can remember there being a few drives being stopped on fourth down and short on our side of the field in the first half. They moved the ball a whole lot better than us i the first half. Aside from that you have to finish drives with tds.(as simple as that sounds) if covington can do that they should be okay.

I wasnt asking if sgc had a shot at state, i was asking if, in this playoff system, it was possible for 2 teams in the same district go undefeated and and both win state. i was using covington and sgc as an example because of the situation. i know that teams like alcoa, cak, cpa ect. would probable beat most w. tn 3A teams.

So, correct me if im wrong, if sgc and covington both go undefeated in the same district and sgc is in 3A playoffs, and covington is in 4A playoffs, does that mean its possible in this system to have 2 undefeated state champions from the same district?

i wasnt saying hat sgc was the better team just that they looked better in that jamboree game. I do, however, think it would be a close game. 42? maybe.but i think itd be close. Would be a good one to watch.

ill admit, im tempted to skip sgc's game to see this but ill most likely just get a friend from milan to keep me frequently updated. Should be a great game. im going with covington in a close game

i mean no disrespect, but north side is overrated. Milan and Covington would take them. And idk if they werent playing there best or what but in the jamboree, when sgc played there starters in the first quarter it was 14-0 and they moved the ball easily, using the jv playbook. Ended up winning 17-14 with the jv playing the second and final quarter.

Not to be a homer, but Scott Stidham at SGC has to be mentioned. It started the SGC football program 4 years ago before the highschool was even built. With only freshmen and sophmore in his first season, played a jv sheduale and rallied the entire Medina community together to build a football stadium. In his first varsity season with this group he won his first 4 games and went to the playoffs with a 6-4 record. This year, his second varsity season, 7-0 with a possibility to win out including a win over one of the states best programs (Milan) and an oppritunity to make some noise come playoff time. Not to mention the way he teaches those kids the right way and keeps a positive, christian enviorment around his program. You would never hear him boast, but someone needs to give him credit where credit is due,

Milan should take this one pretty easy. However, ripley has a decent team and i think theyve yet to play to there potintial so they could possibly make it closer than i predict. But i going Milan 35-7.

With my home team playing Thursday, ill be free Friday night. So what will be the best matchup to watch this week?

This game always interests me beacuse before SG, Medina students went to GC. Now theyre two seperet schools. Members of South Gibsons first graduating class, which i am included in, spent there freshmen year at GC before comming home to the brand new school. The link between these schools will make this an emotional match-up. Theres alot of people in GC that dislike SGC. This will be a thursday night game @ South Gibson and while i think SGC will end up running away with it pretty easily, i think GC comes out fighting and makes for an interesting first quarter or so. Any thoughts??

Id go to that game every year for sure

Comming of a bye week, South Gibson hosts Obion for there homecoming game this friday. I for one will be interested to see how sgc looks comming off of the big win over Milan. Any predictions?

Since sgc had a bye week i went to check out gc last week with my fiance (who is from gc). They seem to be improving some under there new coach. They still need to get more disiplend in a lot of area but i like the system there in. They still need a a couple more athletes and some beef up front. Other than that the plays were ran a bit sloppy but thats to be expected with a first year qb and a team being in the first year of the system. I dont know who they have comming up but if those coaches are aloud some a few years to work they could turn it into a decent team in a few years. Also I like the uniforms this year. but for this game, this year, covington wins by as whatever score they want.

I think Milan will win it but I wouldnt be shocked to see westview make a game of it. Should be a good one to watch.
