  1. Congratulations Rebels! Fulton has a bright future. The Falcons are well coached and respected. Colton Murrell played exceptional and the offense was typical. My nomination for play of the game?..... Larry Headrick working the sound boards with AC/DC 'Back in black' as the Rebels came out of locker room. Time for the Patriots. Go Rebels!!!
  2. Outstanding conversation regarding the 6A championship game. My only comment is......out there in "Rebel Nation" there are about 25 twenty year old ex-Rebels who have been introduced to KARMA! Those young men will never forget the heist. But,I am sure the "Rebel Nation pondered the 2012 outcome driving east on I-40 early this morning heading back to the city of Champions! I'd say making the stop for breakfast tasting much better than 2012?
  3. To all my brother & sister "Rebel Nation" Travel safe & bring home the right colored hardware! Shinsky & Miller to receive MVPs!? Good luck to all!
  4. I know you are not brining me into your discussion. I'm just minding my own business like Red Rebels and I have to defend myself. I think Jetjock is miffed he can't wear his pee wee Herman shoes any longer. I am glad you guys are huge Rebel fans, but AA has more to do than referee you. Now, to the important subject......Rebels/Rebels. Hope for decent weather, no injuries and a MHS Rebel win. MHS 35 West 14 refs 7 Final score MHS 35-21!
  5. Hey APB, The truth of the matter is.......Jetjock actually had a pair of those white pee wee Herman shoes in Jr. High.......I'll be looking for some old family photos to share!
  6. Hope everyone has in their malf peisch. Also, looking forward to what Headrick has cooked up for Jud in the Pbox. Can't wait to see everyone in the "Rebel Nation"! Well, maybe not Jetjock? I may see that ole rascal a lil too often?! Load em up boys....this one counts!!! Go Rebels!!!
  7. Hey Stars, Hmmmmmmm, like back in the day? Celebrating 44 years ago and the 2nd Rebels state championship. I am sure you are familiar with the photo!? Back then we wore the blazers, now we wear cargo shorts and a golf shirt?
  8. Hey Stars, how about if I bring a nice neck tie for Judd and George DeBaby to wear? We are "Rebel Nation". We can't be out dressed by the visitors! 4 more days until the return of the "Iron Cross"!!! Gotta go get me a new chin strap! Go Rebels!!!
  9. Stars........ Most of the Rebel Nation thinks you have a screw loose!? Now, we are certain. But, seriously.............here is mine. 1) Tommy Beaver 2) Danny Spradlin 3) Carl Stewart 4) George Quarles Go Rebels!!! AA
  10. Yes, that is I. Not a driver at the "Mountain. My brother drove the "Screaming Eagle" I just announce. Now, announcing at 411 Motor Speedway. As mentioned earlier, if given the chance to announce Maryville High Rebel football games. I can assure you along with Roger Murphy doing the color, the ratings would be better and the listener would be entertained and informed. Everyone hunker down and prepare for weather. Go Rebels!!! AA
  11. Well, dang! What encouraging words! That would be an honor, especially knowing I would at least give the score every few minutes. I do understand talks are in the works for an improvement. By the way, the racecar was red not the Corvette. Also, a fine pillar of the community needs to check out the new eateries? Looking forward to 2014. Go Rebels!!! AA
  12. Ok Rebel Fans, We all know the gold ball is going to stay in the "Bluff City" and the silver ball will eventually make it to the Rebel's trophy case. (after someone finds it underneath GQ's desk). But, most Rebel fans may recall a home county game in 1999 (GQ's 1st year). There was a personal foul call against the Rebels after a change of possession. The Rebels were the receiving team. The head official marked off the yardage of the penalty and awarded the ball back to the opponent. The MHS head coach argued to no avail. The Rebels went on to lose the game by a very small margin. There happened to be another TSSAA official in attendance. This person addressed the call with the board in Nashville. It was later published in the local paper an error in the call was made. The point is 14 years later and the MHS coaches still know the rules. Perhaps, it is time the officials know the interpertation of the rules? Go Rebels!!!
  13. OMG..................we have gone into the dark ages. This thread has gone from talking about teen agers playing a football game to killing in the Civil war?! Do us a favor, exchange emails or phone numbers and take this crap elsewhere. High school athletics is about all we have left without large corporate dollars and the replay booth ruining sports. Go Rebels!!!
  14. Forget the coaching and officiating! The kids playing the game showed a tremendous amount of heart and talent. Congratulations to Whitehaven on a very successful season! If these two teams played four games, each would win 2 and the 5th would be another barn burner! Ease up high school football fans, Maryville is still a marvelous place to live and raise a family. Don't worry Rebel coaches, you will not get cussed out in public and the "Rebel Nation" will allow you men to come back and coach in 2013. Great season 2012 Rebels!!!
  15. If memory serves me correctly, was it your brother who QBd the Rebels over the 14 point favorite Brentwood Academy 27-0 in 1976? And you played and beat them again in1978 21-14? Please forum do not mess with me on Rebel football history!? Again, I did not write the script. I just pass it on.
  16. Still remember smoking cigars in locker room @ Dudley field after we beat Brentwood Academy for gold trophy no. 3 in 1978! Alcoa has tradition, DB has tradition, Brentwood has tradition, Riverdale has tradition........Maryville High is TRADITION!!! I did not write the book, I just published it!!!
  17. Oh Pepvol, you want to get in on this? From what I understand, your family, the Clendenens, the Smith's and our posse were all tied for the most MHS sports letters until we found my sister's wrestling letter! We need to take this battle to a different forum. This is not a challenge you want!!! You can buddy up with your leathernecks from DB, but my knowledge and wit of MHS you do not want!!! You still got your John Travolta dancing 3 piece????
  18. Hey Red Rebels. Could you have a class on photo shop, computer usage etc.? You seem very smart with a ton of extra time? Also, the shot of Siegel's campus appears to care about baseball? P.S. With all of your wisdom, can you feed a live video of the game back to the unlucky fans who can not attend the game?
  19. One other bit of information.....Not only did the Rebel Nation order up a clear warm fall evening, but DB will be fill the 1st qtr final opponent to compete on a perfect field condition. In years past, this could not be said. May the best team win. Clear the women and children from the streets, tape up those ankles, snap on the chin strap tightly! 7 short hrs. GO Rebels!!!
  20. The pub is Aubrey's! Exactly 7/10 mile from the "Black Hole" Also has Great food! The Rebel fans are excited to have you supportive folks make the trip. Good luck and travel safely!!!
  21. Actually, he is "Jarhead "! Betty & Veronica will be there though. Who does one see about being acknowledged on the sign the players run through???? Go Rebels!!!
  22. FYI 24 hours later after celebrating a marvelous game with this historic event. One item may need to be addressed. The large amount of announcements made during yesterday's game. I can assure you every single announcement was directed from upper management. Even the superintendent relayed an important announcement to be made. Lost articles, vehicles to be moved, safety concerns, health and advertisement announcements are just a part of today's way of doing business and putting on this kind of show for the entire country to enjoy! I do this same job on a different level of sports and I can assure you it can become a bit tedious! I understand the new and improved stadium has updated speakers which may be a little louder, but our announcer is only doing as he is told. He does a fine job and is a professional. The next game will not be as large of an event with less announcements. Another great game between these two class schools. I wish both teams well and perehaps this game will be on national television over at Alcoa next year?! As mentioned, I do not sit in the stands. But, if the speakers are too loud, one can contact the Athletic director and share your concerns with him.
  23. Really, one might make a trip to the "Black Hole" and they are concerned about the concession stand? Most make the trip to see some quality high school football. By the way, the best food in the stadium is in the press box for the media and assistants. Hope you still consider coming on down. Just stop at Aubrey's before or after the game and you will be fine. It is 1 mile from the stadium.
  24. He is GQ, but for us older guys its Ted B. Wilson. He is my coach and he is the Man that put MHS football on the map!!!
  25. Number 52 Nathan Miranda had at least 20 tackles!!!! West was strong. The offense was Maryville, but please give 52 his do!!!
